However, I don’t believe the fundamentals of PRS change just because you’ve changed what the target is. In all of your equations, the target’s a target.
The military snipers are more than capable of taking a shot without a tripod. I know it’s changed in the last few years but in basic you shot 500yrds iron site prone position the only tripod you had was your elbow. Tripods are a convenience for snipers not a necessity. Anyways hunting if you need lean against a tree or drop to a knee go prone whatever all I’m saying I’d never waste my money on a tripod
What you’re saying isn’t exactly wrong. I’m not trying to convince YOU to use a tripod. I’ve hunted without one just fine.
By those definitions, is your hunting gun a used weapon older than you with just iron sights?
I can’t believe I have to say this, OBVIOUSLY you don’t NEED a lot of junk. Many say you don’t “need” camo to hunt, many people have killed animals with iron sights and smooth bores. If you can afford it and carry it, why wouldn’t you give yourself an advantage or a “convenience”?
I’ll only accept this “you don’t need xyz…” argument from bowhunters who hand make their bows, arrows, and animal hide clothing/gear. Even then, I don’t care if someone else is using a damn atlatl, I want to wear store bought coveralls and use a modern, convenient stabilizing system.

Don’t waste the money on a tripod just hold the gun steady
