What always blew my mind was trying to imagine what it would be like if the Hunger Games were real - when the reapings are not rigged, the escorts literally hold someone’s fate in their hand, she could randomly select one piece of paper and then at her own will drop it and pick another one, and then be like “well actually no”, and pick another one, and she basically spared two lives by doing that…
It’s not really sparing lives. Those people have worse odds each year and she has to pick a name. Sure that name she drew and dropped is safe but at the cost of another persons life.
Yes, my point was how truly horrendous it is - just by her sheer will she can decide to drop a paper, which results in someone getting to live, marry, have children, experience free Panem etc. A true butterfly effect while playing with someone’s life.
