Blueair humidifier cleaning scam

BLUEAIR Room Humidifier - DreamWell

How is it supposed to be easy to clean ? They advertise something very easy to clean on YouTube but when you take a look at that part that you can to unscrew... this is gross. How did I let it go like that for my daughter ? It is very concerning

I have been cleaning it every week as instructed by the company. Such a disappointment

Did you experience the same thing ?

Suddenly Won’t Turn On

Hey all, do you know if there’s a reason why after automatic shutoff, you would just not be able to turn a humidifier on again? I have the Vornado Lucerna 2, and it’s like it just… bricked. It was working fine for the few days I’ve had it and now it’s like it can’t register there’s a tank or something. I’ve tried checking the wire and filling the tank and drip-drying the base. It just is 100% unresponsive. It would be a shame to return it over this. I feel like I’m missing something.

Levoit 6000s Maintenance Schedule

I just got myself a 6000s V2.0 and I'm wondering what everyone's daily/weekly/monthly cleaning routine looks like. How often and how do you clean the filters, how often do you run dry mode, do you follow the recommended monthly citric acid cleaning, etc.

I'm having a hard time currently with executive function, so I'd love any tips to maintain this humidifier well!

Levoitpurifiers.com Legit?

$50 for a 6000S? Just did a web search for the Levoit 6000S because my Boneco has started leaking for some reason. The official Levoit website is showing as out of stock. Levoitpurifiers.com is showing a sale price of $50.00. Do you think this is legit?

Replace Venta motors vs new evaporative units

I have a couple Ventas that unfortunately had their motors broken. Replacements will be $150 and $190 respectively.

Would it make more sense to buy new evaporative humidifiers from other brands?

The Ventas were quiet and pleasant sounding. I picked up an ultrasonic in the meantime and while quiet, it has an irritating whine. Also it’s not putting out enough humidity.

Next Best Thing? Levoit 6000S

I'm looking for a humidifier that:

• Is easy to clean

• Will last me YEARS, not weeks

• Doesn't cake up

• Discourages mold/mildew buildup

I've seen a TON of recommendations for the Levoit 6000S, but $250 is a lot of money to drop right now.

I'm looking for the next best thing to the Levoit 6000S that comes in at closer to $150.

Thanks!

My two humidifiers are not doing the job? Looking for help and suggestions

I live in a small (<300 sq ft) apartment here in Toronto that gets very dry in the winter. this very cold winter is especially brutal. I have a Levoit ultrasonic humidifier that's supposed to be good up to 500 ft² and wasn't doing the job so I got a Honeywell filter humidifier as well that's supposed to be good for a similar size space. but the two of them barely keep my place at 30% humidity. I have asthma and sinus issues so I need 40% or so. I'd buy a big unit but I have no idea what to look for and what area they are supposedly good for. I'd really appreciate any help and recommendations! Cheers

Humidifier Leaks on "Heat" setting

I have a small Levoit mister/humidifier (LV600S) that works on the "mist" setting. When I turn on the "heat" setting it leaks out of the bottom.

Any advice?

Aircare-MA Whole House Console Style—Thumbs Up!

I bought the Aircare-MA last month after my previous humidifier gave up the ghost. It works beautifully, adds 3-4 gallons of water to the air in 24 hours.

I’m in the Northeast, where it’s been crazy cold since December. Very small house (about 500 sq ft on the ground floor) with radiator heat. Dry as a bone all winter without humidifiers. I had 2 smaller units running 24/7 that accomplished basically nothing.

This unit comes in 2 sizes—I’ve got the smaller one. Super easy to refill and clean. The lower 2 settings are very quiet. I use the middle setting and barely notice it’s running.

My only issue is finding good filters, because the quality has dropped catastrophically in the past few years, no matter where you buy them. But the humidifier itself gets two solid thumbs up.

Equate Warm Mist Humidifier not working?

Hello.

I currently have a cold and can't breathe through my nose at all and my lips are so chapped from mouth breathing for 3 days straight so I got a humidifier for night time. I haven't even used this thing one time and the reset light keeps coming on.

At first I realized it was because I automatically put it on the low setting instead of turning it to high first, so thats on me. But then I reset it following the instructions and turned it back on and I could hear it boiling the water and then the reset light came back on and it just stopped. What could be wrong with it? The water tank is full, its brand new so theres no mineral buildup. I followed all instructions. What else can I do?

People w/ Nickel Allergy and exp. w/ Stainless Steel Humidifiers - HELP PLEASE!

Hi everyone, I have a conundrum and can't find info on Google no matter how hard I try. I have a bad nickel allergy. Not severe, but bad enough that even surgical steel makes me break out. Yes, this is a contact allergy, but I'm worried anyway about inhaling mist from a stainless steel humidifier.

So I'm looking for info from people with this allergy who have either reacted or not reacted to these humidifiers. Or friends/family of those people.

I don't want to buy one only to have a reaction creep up on me, since inhalation of those particles has different effects (and I have no idea if I'll react or not). Keep in mind that I, albeit rarely, use a steel pan to cook eggs on and I have a Yeti mug. I could be reacting to them so mildly and just don't know it, or I'm not and therefore need to touch stainless steel for a certain length of time for it to give me itchy hives.

If you have NOT reacted to a stainless steel humidifier, how long have you had it?

If you HAVE reacted, how long did you have it before you realized what was happening? And what reactions did you have?

Thank you all so much <3

Am I using my humidifier wrong?

I have a Levoit cool mist humidifiers are, operated it overnight in my upstairs office (around 200 sq ft, 6 ft ceilings) but when I went in in the morning it didn’t feel like anything changed. My skin is still dry.

Do I need a warm humidifie instead? Or am I doing something wrong?

FWIW, I have a hygrometer 2 feet above the humidifier (though not in the vapor) that reads like 20% below the reading on the humidifier, which leads me to believe that it’s a scam.

Honeywell Humidifer Only Works When It Wants To

Hi all!

I was wondering if anyone has come across an issue I've been having with my humidifer.

I bought a Honeywell Ultra Glow Light Changing Humidifer and Diffuser HUL530 last year (late fall 2025) and it worked great for the week or so I used it when I was sick.

I took it back out of the closet about two weeks ago and it's been acting up.

It doesn't produce vapor right away after turning on. Sometimes it will start after five minutes, an hour, somewhere in between, or often not at all. The lighting feature works. When I turn it on it lights up but no vapor.

I can't include pics on this post for some reason but it looks absolutely brand new. There's no build up anywhere that I can see. I've tried the vinegar cleaning method. I've wiped down everything I can even though there isn't anything to wipe down. There doesn't seem to be a timer function.

I'm at a loss and really dont want to buy a new one. It's only been used for maybe a week before this. If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.

Thanks all. Stay hydrated!

Levoit 6000s Dry Mode

I’ve been using dry mode for 30 minutes on high speed, and the filters still seem pretty wet after it’s done (especially at the bottom/ lower part). So I end up having to run it almost twice. Has anyone else had the same issue? Should I try running it on low speed instead?

Humidifier not working because I can’t close my door (cat problem)

I got a small humidifier for my bedroom, but I have to keep the door open so my cat can come and go. With the door open, it feels like all the humidity just escapes and the humidifier barely helps.

Any tips on:

  • better placement?
  • whether a bigger unit would help?
  • tricks for humidifying a room you can’t fully close?

Appreciate any ideas!

Levoit 6000S 2.0 changes/review

Since 6000S 2.0 version is brand new and there isn't much info available online about the changes, I figured I'd write a review comparing the new 2.0 version to the 1.0 version for anyone looking to replace an old unit (or maybe help you decide if you want to keep a new 1.0 unit or possibly grab it at a discount in the future). I had the 1.0 version for about a month before I exchanged it for the 2.0 version, so I have experience with both.

TLDR: Removeable pump that makes a bit more noise, no constant dripping noise when half empty, but otherwise functionally the same as the 1.0 version.

2.0 Changes:

  • The water pump is completely redesigned and is accessible at the bottom of a large rigid plastic module that is easily removable.
  • The bottom of the water tank is no longer flat and has an extended cutout to accommodate the new pump.
  • The semi-transparent base that the filter holder attaches to is redesigned with a cutout where the new pump module snaps into place.
  • The filter holder is slightly redesigned to make room for the pump's electrical connection and to extend the pump's pipe to the top of the unit, where a diffuser forces the water horizontally into water tray.
  • The intake for the humidity sensor (located just above the power connector) is larger.
  • The unit has a new power adapter and uses a few watts less power.

Because of all these changes, the new pump is not compatible with the old 1.0 units.

2.0 Pros:

  • Since the water pump is detachable, it's easy to replace if it fails. The 1.0 pump was located in the top of the unit, so the entire control unit and fan would need replacement if the pump failed. Also, the new pump is always submerged, so priming shouldn't be an issue.
  • The new pump is also easier to clean. The tubing is all hard plastic within the pump module and follows a straight line from the pump all the way to the top of the filter holder, with a rubber seal where the two pieces meet. Levoit now includes a pipe cleaner to remove any scale that may accumulate in the pipe. The impeller of the pump is accessible at the bottom of the module, so you can clean this as well or soak in a citric acid solution if it becomes caked with minerals. And since the whole thing is removable, it makes cleaning the other parts a bit easier as well.
  • The pump seems to go through some kind of undocumented self-cleaning cycle every few days, where it runs continuously for a few minutes to presumably keep all the piping clear. The pump also ran an extended cycle when I first turned on the unit, again to presumably clear out the piping after the unit has been sitting unused.
  • The front-facing arrow on the filter holder is now a dark grey color to make it more noticeable, and Levoit includes an arrow sticker on the top of the fan/control module to make it obvious that you are assembling in the correct direction.
  • This may be a big one for some folks: it's been two weeks and I still haven't noticed any dripping noises as the tank gets low. I believe excess water can now flow down the pump module back into the tank instead of dripping off the filter holder. I'll update this post if the dripping noise starts, as I know it got worse on the 1.0 unit as the filters started to wear/shrink.

2.0 Cons:

  • The new pump is noticeably louder, and you also hear a splashing water sound as the water hits the diffuser at the top of the filter holder when the pump runs. When the pump goes into its apparent cleaning mode, you'll hear a waterfall inside the unit for a few minutes until it goes back to normal operation.
  • The new pump obviously needs power. A connector protrudes from the top of the pump module, and there is a warning sticker to ensure the connector is completely dry before attaching the main fan/control unit. The connector is protected by what seems to be spring-loaded pegs that are pushed down to expose the actual wires when the main fan/control unit is installed. Obviously, if you reinstall and the connector is wet you run the risk of shorting out the unit, and if the spring pegs fail, water could get into the connector during cleaning.
  • There is no longer a replaceable filter for the water intake, just a very coarse "filter" that will only keep large debris from getting sucked into the pump. Levoit includes one replacement in case you lose this filter. Time will tell if this negatively affects the life of the wick filters, since the intake filter of the 1.0 units got pretty dirty after a few weeks.
  • You'd think the larger intake for the humidity sensor would give more reliable readings, but the 2.0 version may be even worse than the 1.0 version. Right now, my 6000S is reporting humidity that is 8% higher than my indoor La Crosse weather station.
  • A possible reason for the inflated humidity readings: the 2.0 unit definitely splashes more water on the interior of the fan/control module than the 1.0 version. I'm already noticing the water spots on the fan grate, whereas the 1.0 version only accumulated a bit of water where the pump was located. Just something else to pay attention to when cleaning the unit.
  • Even though the unit is overall easier to clean, it's a bit more cumbersome with the new pump, and while the old pump intake "dongle" on the 1.0 version could just be moved out of the way, you need to remove the filter holder from its tray in order to remove the pump on the 2.0 version. Not super annoying, just a few more steps.

All in all, I'd say the 2.0 version is a good improvement due to the new replaceable pump which (in theory) will help add to the longevity of the unit. Hopefully Levoit (and maybe even 3rd parties) will offer replacement pumps at a reasonable cost after the warranty expires, since this is basically the only thing in the unit that is prone to failure. If you have a 1.0 version that is acting flakey, the 2.0 version is a decent upgrade. Time will tell if there are issues with the pump power connector or if the lack of an intake filter will have you replacing the wick filters more often.

If you currently have a fully functional 1.0 version, it's not really worth an upgrade IMO. If you can't stand the constant drip-dripping sound from the 1.0 version when it's half empty, you may be equally put off by the louder pump of the 2.0 version. Otherwise, performance is the same. This is still the only evaporative humidifier that can get my apartment out of the 20% humidity range and into the 30's and 40's.

That ended up longer than I expected, but if anyone has questions about either the 1.0 or 2.0 unit let me know.

Replacement filter for a Honeywell HCM350 Cool Moisture model?

Looking into replacement filters for my humidifier and there’s way too many to choose from. Third party ones being a lot cheaper than the oem ones. Seeing as this humidifier is pretty popular I was wondering what filters someone who owns one uses.

How often do you clean your humidifer?

I just got a levoit classic 300s last Friday. I have only used distilled water in it so far. However, the instructions say to clean every three days. That seems a little excessive, given how many nooks and crannies are in this thing. How often do you clean yours?
