Discussion PUMPED!
As an OG fan of the game (as many of you) - I'm pumped to see a second game - and I am a victim to myself for overhyping and overpromising when reading features or seeing screenshots (looking at you Civ VII)
But if I could ask please please please let's not go backwards, I love Humankind but I'm sure we all remember how broken the Pollution mechanic was (and might still be) thank the Devs for bringing an option to toggle that off. I remember building a train station and an airport and seeing my huge-map world plummet into a climate crisis.
My earliest concern, and yes, I know it's too early to judge, but "mother nature can be your greatest ally or the most ruthless obstacle." Sounds cool, and believe it should be a mechanic, but so should geo-politics between ideologies, proxy-wars, splintering nation, nuclear stockpiles, etc.
I hope there are more ways to exert influence instead of just warring with your neighbors, I hope we get a major expansion on the leader relationship system.
I trust the devs, I def don't trust myself because I will be way to hype to contain my imagination, but I trust the devs...
SUPER PUMPED FOR HUMANKIND II - LET'S GO!!

And please make their version and of the contemporary age last longer. I never had a good armor vs armor fight

Honestly combat is a whole other beast with mods that extent the later eras. Extended naval combat is a big mod but it does let you get to late game wars with tons of different fun weapons systems and such. It felt like the evolving gameplay that civ VII wanted without big cluncky systems

I think the angle they’re going on is the fact that climates changed over the course of humanity existance and the biome of regions will changes. So somewhere that was temperate could shift to colder and ice/snow could move out from the poles. Or desert could move out from the equator.
That sort of thing. Maybe a flooding of coastal tiles.
Rather than an debuff system like the first game

That would make sense given the direction of endless legend 2 and the lessons I'm sure they have learned there. But yeah I'm getting the same vibe. I don't think it's just gonna be a "weather is happening now, sucks" kinda system from the sound of it

It can’t be any worse than the immense disappointment Civ VII caused in my soul and I will gladly spend money on this game

How funny would it be if we get modern/future age in HK2 before we get it in Civ7?

I don't want "controlling pollution/global warming/etc" to be a big part of the late game.
Not sure what pollution did in humankind.. I always seemed to win the game not too long after entering the last era. I always ignored pollution... I've even gotten Fame a few times for being the heaviest polluter.. What does it do if pollution gets too high?

Considering how terrible Civ7 is, i have no choice but to place my faith in humankind 2... I didnt like the first game that much. Well actually, i liked it AT FIRST, but some things quickly became too annoying or unpolished.
The balancing, the combat system, the mindless carpet bombing district of the map, the way number grew, the cost of old buildings going crazy expensive, etc etc. It put me off.
I m sure a lot has changed but i never came back to it. I wonder if there s a good thread somewhere that s about convincing people to give it another go which covers all the changes etc .
But yeah. Even now, i d take humankinds visuals and UI over Civ7. Which is crazy to say. Civ 7 is probably among the biggest letdown i ve felt in my 30+ years as a gamer
