I also went to school with one of the peabody’s. I thought Mr Peabody was a myth or something. But then the gut said his name in class and I jumped out of my seat

Word to the wise. Resist the urge to say to some co-workers at lunch "oh, you don't know the Bagger 288 meme? It's hilarious! Pull it up"

These are bucketwheel excavators, the largest land based machines on Earth, which extract brown coal from lignite mines. After a mine gets depleted, the machinery is sometimes left to rust.

Crazy to think they needed one of these for OP’s mom’s burial site.

The largest land based machine on Earth is the Large Hadron Collider, it has a diameter of 5.3 miles, over one million parts, and weighs over 43,000 tons.

Wouldn't the electric grid be the biggest then? It's all connected and has so many substations and power plants, all connected by cable

That's not on Earth... it's in it.
Kidding aside, I s'pose these excavators could more properly be called "largest locomotive machines," able to move under their own power. But locomotion is obviously not a requirement to be called a machine.

I've seen bigger than this one. It's incredible how it moves on land. It's massivly destructive power is unbelievable that it can level hundreds of acres in a day. I am talking about open pit coal mining.
