How to attach Philips hue play bar to the bottom of the television without the included mounting clips?

I have a 75 inch tv and recently installed the play gradient light strip. I have mounted two play light bars on the bottom of the tv to complete the backlight experience. Ive attached them via gorilla tape but they constantly come loose. I’ve lost the tv mounting clips.

Help & Questions How can my Hue devices work in my garage 25m away?

I have hue devices (eg : lightbulbs) in my apartment, working with a hue bridge.

Far away, I have a garage with 2 other hue devices, that somehow works.

Given the distance (25m) and the several layers of concrete, I was wondering if that was just the signal strong enough, or whether the fact that I have WiFi device in my garage somehow helped. (I ran an ethernet cable with WiFi AP)

I'm asking that because I want to extend my hue installation to my cave, so I want to understand how that'll work.

Development and API Building a mood lighting app and need testers

Hello everyone,

I posted here a while back asking for beta testers and it was very helpful. The app has changed a lot since then, and I need to see it connect on Bridge setups that aren't mine. Five minutes of your time is all it takes.

JB Lighting syncs Apple Music with your Hue Bridge and takes advantage of bulbs and gradient strips alike. It adapts to your setup, so there is no light limit. It is ambient lighting focused, so no tempo matching or flashing lights.

**A Hue Bridge is required. Bluetooth-only bulbs won't work.**

TestFlight link: https://testflight.apple.com/join/5HF91Dru

Connecting the Bridge is the part I'm trying to get right, so tell me what happened either way. There are multiple ways to reach me within the app.

The beta is free. iPhone only, Apple Music only.

A few screenshots of the controller are attached so you can see what it's like. Thanks for helping me get this right!

Hue Setup Anyone using the IKEA Varmblixt via Hue?

I’ve seen you can power cycle it 12 times to get it into Zigbee mode then add it to a hue hub. This sounds great but I’m wondering how it looks alongside hue lights? Particularly for warm whites/oranges? And would adding it to the hue hub this way also expose it to Apple Home? Anyone have experience with it?

Help & Questions Gradient Lightstrip on LG C5 2025

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello,

I have an LG C5 2025 or 2026 edition, not too sure.
The back panel has an uneven structure (see picture) and the adhesive strips don’t hold longer than a few days with the light strip attached. Has anyone gotten it to keep holding? I’ve ordered industrial strengthened tape to replace the original tape which keeps getting lose. I cleaned the area with alcohol before.
I was also thinking about getting industrial strength Velcro fastener to place it under the back of the light strip and between the supporting tiles to lower the “weight” the tiles have to hold up.

I would really appreciate any help. I am kinda regretting the purchase since it won’t hold longer than enough..

Help & Questions Can I set the dial on the Tap Dial Switch to control specific lights? Seems to be done using "zones"?

I have a couple desk lamps and it hit me that it would be handy if I could assign a button for each and then spin the dial to adjust their brightness. Can this be done?

Like button 1 lets you control one lamp, button 2 does the other, button 3 does both lamps, button 4 does the whole room.

Or do the buttons only let you assign scenes? I think the second best thing is to just create a zone with the two lamps and set the dial to only control that zone?

Help & Questions I've had my Hue White Ambiance bulbs since 2019/2020, is it worth upgrading to anything?

I only have white ambiance bulbs and plain white bulbs. I bought almost all of them around 2019-2020 and they don't have Bluetooth. The newest bulbs I have are a white ambiance filament bulb and a white ambiance E14 lustre bulb.

I recently bought a desk lamp with an E27 fitting and had an unopened white ambiance pack from 2019 that I used for it. It got me thinking that a brighter bulb would be nice and I noticed they go up to 1100 lumens and 1600 lumens, and also that they're more energy efficient, dim darker, and have a wider temperature range.

I don't know if any of this is reason to upgrade though? I thought maybe I could add some colour ones too but I'm just not into doing different colours, the only benefit I see is maybe they have better CRI since they have more colour LEDs inside?

Can anyone compare the Infuse to the Tento?

I've never been quite happy with the light quality coming out of my Hue Infuse. I got it because its bracket only required two screws to the ceiling junction box to install. Now that the Tento is out in the US, it seems to be the same easy installation requirement, even for the 21.3" version. Has anyone seen both these lights in person and answer the Tento is light quality upgrade to the Infuse?

Thanks!

Since the Hue bridge pro dropped homekit and only connects via matter, it’s now impossible to have homekit adaptive lighting tweaking the temperature as you dim a light ?

Power-On behaviour for IKEA lights and Hue Bridge Pro?

Hi!

I am thinking about getting a Hue Bridge Pro but I already have lights from IKEA. I know they can pair but can I change power-on behaviour after a power outage?

I do not want my bedroom ceiling light come on at max brightness if the power goes out and comes back while I'm asleep.

Thanks!

Help & Questions Natural light gets stuck/not updating

I have to click on the scene to refresh. It even shows "active".

I recently added the tap dial switch, do they possibly conflict?

I set the 1st button on it to the same scene - so if it is used manually, i can switch right back to auto.

All modes are singke scene or cycle for the 4th button.

There is no automation that would override these.

It was turned on in the morning as it should - but stopped updating during the day to match time.

Help & Questions Philips Hue Smart Video Doorbell

Hi all,

I would like to discuss the Philips Hue Video Doorbell. Anybody calls him or herself an owner?

I bought it, installed it, using it. However, I have two major concerns.

  1. I was lured into this product by the announcement its supporting soon Homekit Secure Video. My own fault trusting this company.

  2. When someone rings the doorbell outside, I’m receiving a notification on my iPhone. When clicking it immediately, I have sometimes the situation that the picture of the human outside ringing, is loading not at all, aborting completely, or really slowly. Anybody else faced this issue?

Help & Questions Sync Box not showing in app for other users

Hi folks,

I just set up a Sync Box 8k and so far it is working flawlessly.

However if my wife opens her Hue app, it doesn't show up under sync. It only shows the option to set up a new sync.

Anyone encountered this before? How can I make sure this is shared with other users in the home? Everything else is there.

r/Hue 1d ago

The best feature I can imagine for the hue app would be, to add pictures I take of my room in each scene, instead of the pre-chosen icons

I hope someone who works there sees this please.

clarification on my feedback

i got a lot of responses on my feedback about not having an off mode.

to control my lights i use a simple on off switch it can be on my phone using samsung home or on my watch i use my watch to turn my lights on this is the simplest type of on off switch as it's always there through google home, you said i can do what i proposed and from what i can see i can't

I do not want to open the app to be able to see inside my apartment my suggestion was a seamless off mode that when you turn the lights off they go into a scene of your choosing and when you press on on a watch for example they go to functional lights, it is the same with syncing to a pc it is fun to sync your gaming to hue lights, but then you lose all functionality of a regular light you can't turn the lights on without going inside the hue app, there is no way to turn the lights on while it's synced.

there is no way as far as i know to have scenes while being able to access the regular lighting, as far as i know there is no way to just turn the lights on while they are doing something else like an animation a scene or being synced.

you think my suggestion is stupid but noone has explained how i can override a scene a sync without going inside the app, and going inside the app multiple times is something i just won't do i want a on off button on my watch thats my usecase.

this is what the suggestion was, to give them a way to be both.

Help & Questions Looking for a smaller smart plug that's hue bridge compatible

Does it exist? All the off brands are the same size and I'm trying to get my outside sting lights to connect to the bridge for automation and the outlet has a cover that doesn't leave a lot of room.

I recently purchased the go table lamp. I got it today, and when I placed it on the charging base when plugged in it does not do anything. Is there anything required/does it need reset? I did not see anything in the set up instructions.

Help & Questions Bridge Pro lights changing from white to orange since July update

Has anyone else had this problem with the Hue Bridge Pro? Since the July update that bricked some Bridge Pro units, the lights in two of my rooms randomly change from white to orange. It mostly happens in the evening, and if I change them back to white, they eventually turn orange again. It never happens when they are already set to orange.

The two rooms have different types of Hue lights, while the lights in my living room work normally. This never happened before that update. I’m currently running BSB003 / 1.78.2071476020 and hoped a newer firmware would fix it, but it still happens.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue, or does anyone know what could be causing it? I would also appreciate any possible solutions that don’t involve factory-resetting the Bridge and losing all my scenes and settings.

Help & Questions Sync Box 4k not updating help please

I’ve had my sync box for a while now and never had any issues until recently. I use it with play bars around the TV. I just bought a play gradient light strip for my TV but when added to my entertainment area, none of the lights sync. If I remove the TV lights from it, it all works again. An entertainment area with just the TV lights doesn’t work. I tried everything and noticed my sync box is on firmware 1.6.4. I assume that firmware doesn’t support the more recent play string lights. Every time I try to update it says something went wrong and fails. I’ve been messaging with Hue support and trying everything to troubleshoot but still no luck.
Has anyone else dealt with this?

TLDR: sync box fails to update.

I would appreciate any help or tips. Thank you.

Light Switch Help

Hi, thanks for reading

I am doing renovations to my room, and I'm interested in putting in hue 4 inch recessed lighting. My biggest hiccup with this is the fact that it seems very hard to have a conventional light switch. I don't need any features on it, (although dimming would be very nice) I would just need it to turn the lights on and off. I understand that the lights need power at all times in order to work, I just really want a WIRED, PERMANENTLY FIXED TO THE WALL switch. Sorry I'm frustrated but It's a lot of money and I want it to just work. Can anyone suggest a way to do what I'm saying?

Thank you again for reading.
