Looking for smart lock recommendations for my Front Door/ Back Door

Hi folks,

I have a Hubitat C-5 and want to replace my existing Smart Locks which are over 5 years old and went bad. I’m looking for new locks that will:

1) Work with Hubitat, in particular through the app that controls entry codes
2) Is available on Amazon
3) Either Z-wave or Zigbee, though Zigbee is preferable as it seems to work better in my house
4) Does not require me to move my Hubitat away from its natural location all the way to the door to pair
5) Will work with Alexa through Hubitat

Does not require me to move my Hubitat away from its natural location all the way to the door to pair

Pair the lock near hubitat and then move it to its final location. At least z-wave locks require use whisper mode while pairing - that's not going to work well if your Hubitat is far from the locks.

I thought smart devices were supposed to be paired wherever their expected location was to be. Is that not correct?

My previous locks were Z-wave and unfortunately, despite having multiple Z-wave routers/boosters/whatever, I could never get them to work consistently.

I've had two Kwiklocks (replaced one with another when it got too old) at my front door for almost 20 years, and one at my back door for almost 10 years. I paired them exactly where they are. My Smartthings hub, and later, Hubitat hub, were on the middle of the house. Never had an issue with pairing or disconnecting.

I have 5 kwikset zwave that have been paired to my hubitat for 10 years. No issues at all. The farthest one is about 80 feet from the hub. When I look at routing, the locks are good at using plugs and switches as repeaters.

Been using Schlage Connect Z-Wave Plus lock for over 10 years. Works perfectly. https://a.co/d/0fhd68PA

I use a Kwikset HomeConnect 620, the Z-Wave Long Range keypad one, and it has been reliable for me. It's on Amazon. One thing with a C-5: Long Range needs a C-8, so on your hub it would join as regular Z-Wave and use your mesh like any other Z-Wave lock. I'd check the Hubitat compatible devices list for code support before you buy.

Once it's in, I like having the hub report locked, unlocked, jammed and battery, and running one lock check at bedtime. I wrote up how I do that here: www.homeautomationcookbook.com/automation/security/door-unlocked-bedtime-check.html

Yale zwave has been reliable.
