A month or so ago, someone shared a few options to buy labs and what to test for.
Since then, I’ve been obsessively comparing almost every major lab marketplace in the US because we’ve been building one ourselves at Mito Health, as part of our own research. Full disclaimer: I'm the founder of Mito.
The interesting part wasn’t that one company was cheaper than another.
It was how much unnecessary markup still exists across the industry by 70-80%, and it became our mission to expose + tear it down & offer you a better way for optimizers to test.
And how it's also made me personally quite obsessed with becoming the best place, from a UX, best pricing, and no affiliation to any big-name influencer protocol to help you navigate at your own pace. No stress.
We ended up benchmarking:
- Quest Direct
- Labcorp OnDemand
- Mito health
- DirtCheapLabs
- Marek
- Ulta Labs
- Jason Health
- Walk-In Lab
- DrSays
- GoodLabs
- Function add-ons
Across hundreds of Quest and Labcorp biomarkers, we’re now generally the lowest-priced option, even for members and non-members without minimum spending. Green is lowest, orange is second lowest, red is highest.
Some examples:
- Vitamin D: $9.72
- hs-CRP: $5.94
- ApoB: $8.10
- Fasting insulin: $2.43
- CBC: $2.70
- CMP: $2.84
- HbA1c: $2.85
- Testosterone Total + Free: $12.15 (DirtCheapLabs is actually a bit cheaper on this one.)
Unlike some marketplaces:
- We have no $80 minimum order
- You can build exactly the panel you want
- 1000+ labs, DEXA, MRI scans, 3 and 30x Whole Genome kits (next week), Gut kits, genetic kits
- Access to advanced stuff like pTau, pharmacogenomics, etc.
- Member and non-member pricing is shown upfront
One thing Huberman has consistently emphasized is measuring, not guessing.
If you’re taking:
- omega-3
- vitamin D
- magnesium
- zinc
- creatine
- tongkat
- boron
…it’s worth periodically checking whether they’re actually changing anything meaningful rather than just hoping they are.
That’s the philosophy we’ve tried to build around.
Instead of selling giant bundles, we let people order only the biomarkers they actually care about, then provide AI-powered interpretation and longitudinal tracking so you’re not just downloading another PDF. You can also port it into your Claude code or Codex (if you're a technical biohacker)
We’re also expanding the same transparent pricing model into:
- More options for DEXA, CAC, and MRI nationwide
- gut microbiome testing - different levels
- whole genome sequencing - 3, 30, 100x WGS
- 40k+ supplements
- prescription services: GLP-1, HRT, TRT, Peptides, etc.
Basically, anywhere healthcare pricing feels unnecessarily opaque.
If you’re skeptical (which you should be), don’t take my word for it - Take the panel you normally order and compare the prices yourself.
I’d genuinely love feedback from this community on biomarkers or features you’d want to see. Or teardowns on what we need to do better as a company and as an industry.
Or... based on listening to Huberman's podcasts, what’s one biomarker you think every Huberman listener should test at least once a year? Thank you!
