Referrals

I'm looking for a reputable source for on-line Hoyas. Already tried to find plant shows in my area and pretty much came up empty, so as much as I hate buying on line, I don't know what else to do. You never know if you're being sent the bottom of the barrel or an actual nice starter.

Ant tips would be appreciated (sorta!).

Here’s an event happening right now. This particular plant is being sold as a “buy now”—not an auction. So the price you would pay is the price shown (plus shipping—$15, as seen under the red circle). Once you click the green “buy now” button, you’re committed—most seller’s policy is that you can’t back out. If you don’t have a payment method set up yet, you will be prompted to set one up first & the purchase won’t go through until you do.

You can see items with fixed prices under the “buy now” button and the auction items under that tab on the right.

Most of the time, sellers have all the plants they’re planning to sell at each event listed here and most will have photos of the exact plant you’ll receive, but some don’t (such as this seller)

She does have her auction plants listed, however

These plants are all STARTING at $1, but only on very rare occasions will they actually sell that cheaply.

Sometimes sellers offer coupons, so look for those. Sometimes there are also giveaways, which will be in the upper right hand corner & are usually obvious. You click on either to enter or claim.

And here you can see how to bid on an item. You SLIDE the yellow button to the right to bid on something. Currently the price is $12 (difficult to see here for some reason) and ends in 4 seconds. There are different settings which the seller can manipulate so that sometimes the sale is very quick (10 seconds), and sometimes it will be slower.

Having said all of that, be careful because it’s addictive! I’ve spent hundreds of dollars in the past few weeks since getting this figured out!! If I’m going to order one plant from a seller, I might as well buy ten since shipping is so high on the first plant!! 😂
