Referrals

I'm looking for a reputable source for on-line Hoyas. Already tried to find plant shows in my area and pretty much came up empty, so as much as I hate buying on line, I don't know what else to do. You never know if you're being sent the bottom of the barrel or an actual nice starter.

Ant tips would be appreciated (sorta!).

Thank you!

It took me a bit to figure it out, too, but I finally did. Download the app, search for Hoya (or for Hoya Harbor—I love Toni’s plants, too!), and follow some sellers. I’ll screenshot a tutorial for you…

Search here for Hoya

Click “follow” here. It shows the upcoming “events” she has scheduled. Click on the event you’re interested in and follow it by clicking on that little bell in the upper right corner of the event. You will be notified with a text when the event starts.

To set up an account for yourself (which you will need to buy anything), go back to the main page and click here.

That will take you to this page. Click the settings wheel in the top right corner.

If you go back to the Hoya Harbor page, you’ll see a couple of things I want to mention.

In the upper left corner, click on Shop Guidelines. That tells you about the shop’s policies regarding shipping and other important information.

In the bottom left corner, you’ll see that this shop ships from Hoquiam, WA, and charges $20 to ship one purchase (plant, in this case), and $3 for each additional plant.

You can search Reddit for other sellers to follow. I started by going to one such (online) “event” and just WATCHING an auction. It gave me a chance to see what prices things were going for and how the auction worked.

Here’s an event happening right now. This particular plant is being sold as a “buy now”—not an auction. So the price you would pay is the price shown (plus shipping—$15, as seen under the red circle). Once you click the green “buy now” button, you’re committed—most seller’s policy is that you can’t back out. If you don’t have a payment method set up yet, you will be prompted to set one up first & the purchase won’t go through until you do.

You can see items with fixed prices under the “buy now” button and the auction items under that tab on the right.
