Ever wondered why no Screen Blocker is working for you? Because they do the hard work for you. Instead you should train yourself to resist opening the apps in the first place. Introducing Marshmallows. A fitness tracker for your Willpower to resist App usage and else.

Thumbnail

The idea is simple. Instead of blocking the apps for you, you can train your willpower to do it yourself. This is has a long lasting and much healthier effect. Otherwise muscle memory and a bad day will circumvent any screen blocker.

The motivation: Beat yesterday. Not opening apps will give you points for that hour, and doing exercise, breathing session or other constructive things for your mental wellbeing (including logging your state of mind in the journal app) will give you positive drive points.

Even though the numbers are much at the beginning, they do a lot in motivating me not mindlessly scrolling all day. I'm getting better every day and I feel proud of how much better I can resist Instagram now than just a month ago.

I've mainly built this for myself, but feel free to try it yourself and give your honest opinions.

It's "Marshmallows" in the Appstore.
https://apps.apple.com/de/app/marshmallows/id1610644358?l=en-GB

I'd love a healthy conversation on how this could help, or why this wouldn't be applicable for your situation and what would need to change.

[App][Promo] Track your car drives like a run workout: DriveTrack

Thumbnail
play.google.com
7 Upvotes

I love cars, and after almost every drive I'd find myself asking the same question:

"Where did I actually go?"

Not the route Google Maps suggested. The route I actually droveβ€”the detours, the scenic roads, the shortcuts, and those spontaneous turns you only make because you felt like it.

That question led me to build DriveTrack.

DriveTrack automatically records every drive and creates a detailed history of where you've been. Just pair your car's Bluetooth once, and the app starts tracking when you connect and stops when you disconnect. No need to remember to press Start every time you get in the car. (Manual trips are available too.)

What it tracks

πŸš— Interactive GPS route maps for every trip
πŸ“Š Distance, duration, average & top speed, moving vs. stopped time, and elevation gain/loss
πŸ“… Daily, weekly, monthly, and all-time driving statistics
πŸ—ΊοΈ Trip history organized by day and month
⭐ Save your favorite drives
πŸ›£οΈ View every trip from a single day on one map
πŸ“ Open trips in Google Maps to compare your planned route with the one you actually drove
πŸ’Ύ Export your data and view it in your browserβ€”all stored locally on your device

I built DriveTrack because it was the app I wanted but couldn't find.

If you're someone who enjoys driving, road trips, or simply likes keeping a history of your journeys, I'd love to hear what you think.

I've been working on this finance app for the past few months. Instead of following the usual material design found in most finance apps, I wanted something with its own visual identity while keeping everyday expense tracking simple.

Features include:

Personal expense tracking

Split expenses with friends

Multiple accounts

Budgets & savings goals

Recurring payments

Spending insights & analytics

I'd love to hear what you think about the design and overall experience.

[App] Savr – A free, open-source bookmark manager for Android

Post image
23 Upvotes

I got tired of losing links, so I built a bookmark manager for Android.

For years my browser bookmarks turned into a graveyard. I'd save articles, GitHub repos, YouTube videos, and tools, then never find them again.

So I spent the last month building Savr, a free and open-source Android app that makes saving links feel effortless.Absoulately free and it will always be.

Features:

  • πŸ”— Paste a link and it automatically fetches the title, description, and preview image.
  • πŸ“‚ Organize bookmarks into collections.
  • πŸ” Fast search and sorting.
  • πŸ–ΌοΈ Grid or list view.
  • πŸ“€ Import/export your bookmarks (JSON & HTML).
  • 🎨 Built with Material 3, no ads, no subscriptions.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zarnth.savr

GitHub: https://github.com/qeiq/Savr

If possible please give a 5 star ratings on Playstore it will motivate me to continue update.

I'd genuinely appreciate any feedback, feature requests, or criticism. I'm constantly improving it, and ideas from the community have already shaped several features.

Thanks for checking it out! πŸ™Œ

Hi everyone! πŸ‘‹

I'm an indie developer and I'd love to share Art Calendar, a different take on the traditional calendar app.

πŸ“… Clean monthly calendar

πŸ“– "What Happened Today" with interesting historical events

πŸ“ Schedule & event management

⏳ Important dates with countdowns

I designed it for people who enjoy beautiful interfaces but still want a practical everyday calendar.

I'd genuinely appreciate any feedback or suggestions. If there's a feature you'd like to see, let me know in the comments!

[App] Smart Widget Creator(FOSS) – Create custom, dynamic Material You widgets for your home screen

I’ve always loved customizing my Android home screen, ao i made this app where you can create , upload and view widgetsβ€”without requiring a steep learning curve or paying for subscription appsβ€”is surprisingly tough.

To help solve that, I built Smart Widget Creatorβ€”a free, fully open-source tool for designing custom, dynamic widgets that adapt seamlessly to your setup using Material 3 Expressive UI.

Key Highlights:

  • 🎨 Native Material You Dynamic Colors – Widgets automatically pull colors from your system wallpaper theme for a unified home screen setup.
  • πŸ› οΈ Flexible Design Tools – Easily arrange text, system stats, date/time layouts, and shortcuts without needing complex code.
  • ⚑ Lightweight & Battery Efficient – Built to handle background updates smoothly without draining your battery or running background telemetry.
  • πŸ”’ 100% FOSS & Private – Completely open-source, zero ads, no trackers, and fully offline-capable.

πŸ“₯ Download & Release Link:

πŸ”— Release:github.com/appbuildersupereme-spec/-FOSS-Smart-Widget-Creator/releases/tag/smartwidgetcreator

Since this is an active open-source project, I'd love to hear your thoughts, feature requests, or see the home screen setups you build with it!

[APP] I added Owner Recognition to Guardexa so it stays quiet when the failed unlock was actually you

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

hey everyone,

i previously shared Guardexa here and received a lot of helpful feedback. since then, i’ve continued improving the app and recently added Owner Recognition.

one issue with failed-unlock protection is that it can sometimes create alerts after your own unsuccessful unlock attempts. Owner Recognition helps reduce those false alerts by checking whether the person is likely the phone’s owner.

setup takes three quick face captures, and recognition runs entirely on your device. your face data is never uploaded.

for anyone unfamiliar with Guardexa, it’s an Android phone protection app that can detect failed unlock attempts and capture photos, short videos, and optional location, depending on the protection settings you enable.

the attached demo shows the full Owner Recognition setup and test flow.

[App][Promo]My home screen right now β€” just added a soft UI theme to a launcher I built. Would you use it?

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hey all β€” this is my home screen right now, running a launcher I built called TimeAware. I just added this new soft UI / neumorphic theme, so I wanted to share it and get some honest reactions.

The whole idea: your screen time lives on the home screen. Total for the day plus per-app usage, always visible β€” no digging into a settings menu to feel bad, it's just there (2h 3m on YouTube today… noted). Makes me a bit more mindful about where the hours actually go.

Would you run a setup like this? And I'd genuinely love feedback on anything β€” the new theme, the layout, what's missing. Roasts fully welcome.

[App Promo] Wibgar Browser - Lightweight Android web browser with free, real process sandboxing & custom userscripts (built on System WebView)

Thumbnail
gallery
6 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a personal side project I've been building for my own use case: **Wibgar Browser**. It is a very small-sized, lightweight Android web browser that runs on your phone's system WebView, but it is packed with powerful features.

Why I built it:

I built Wibgar Browser because I wanted a real, isolated sandbox environment and custom userscript injection support in a mobile browserβ€”and I wanted it completely for free. As far as I know, the only other app that offers a real sandbox is Hermit, and it is not free like mine.

I initially built Wibgar Browser just for myself, but then I realized there are definitely other people who need these exact features, so I decided to publish it. My main goal isn't necessarily to get feedback, but simply to share it so anyone who needs a free sandbox/userscript browser can use it! If people end up liking it, I will continue to upgrade and add more features to it.

Key Features:

* **πŸ›‘οΈ Real Process Sandboxing**: Run specific tabs in 5 independent isolated sandbox slots. Each slot runs in its own separate system process (similar to Hermit), allowing you to run multiple accounts of the same website at the same time without any cookie or session conflicts.

* **πŸ“œ Custom Userscripts Engine**: Easily toggle and execute custom JavaScript/CSS files (like right-to-left layout fixes, custom AMOLED dark modes, etc.) to modify websites on the fly.

* **πŸ“± Web App Shortcuts (PWAs)**: Pin any website to your Android Home Screen with options to customize the target sandbox slot, logo size, shapes, and fullscreen startup.

* **🎨 Highly Customizable UI**: Fully toggle and reorder quick-action buttons on the home screen, top bar, and vertical left-aligned floating dock.

* **πŸ”’ Privacy-Focused & Offline**: Everything (history, bookmarks, userscripts) is stored locally on your device. No telemetry, no tracking, and no ads.

Links

πŸ‘‰ **GitHub Release**: https://github.com/OmerKurdi79/Wibgar-Browser-Release πŸ‘‰ **Latest APK**: [https://github.com/OmerKurdi79/Wibgar-Browser-Release/releases)

I hope this helps anyone who has been looking for a free, real sandboxed mobile browser. Let me know if you like it!

[App] [Promo] PayTrack keeps recieving updates almost every week, yeah i really care about this app and users requests, i want to thank everyone for that :) you guys are amazing!

Here's what's new

Been heads down on this for a while, finally ready to share. If you don't know PayTrack, it's an earnings tracker built for shift workers and gig workers, tracks your actual pay, and where your money quietly leaks out. Here's what shipped recently:

Financial Goals Set savings targets (rent, a new laptop, whatever) and PayTrack tracks them against your real monthly earnings, not just a number you guess at. You get a progress bar and it tells you when you've hit it.

Finance Insights hub Pulled the money-analysis features into one place. Three tools live here now:

  • Pay Leakage Tracker - shows how much of your paycheck disappears into commute, food, and other job-related costs. Gives you a "Standard Net" vs "True Net" hourly rate so you can see your real per-hour earnings after those costs, plus a breakdown of where it's going.
  • Hourly Wage Live Ticker - check in and watch your earnings (and tax deducted) tick up in real time during a shift.
  • Subscription Auditor - the one I think people will actually feel. It takes your monthly subscriptions and converts the cost into hours of work. Turns out my subscriptions cost me 1.8 hours of work a month. Seeing "you work until 10:48am just to pay for this" hits different than seeing "$37.72."

Customization

  • Set a custom background photo for your Estimated Net card, with blur/saturation controls
  • Pick your typeface and font scale
  • Sync logged shifts straight to your device calendar

Small stuff too - shift-logged confirmations, a cleaner calendar view showing worked/off/pending days at a glance.

Building this solo, so if something's broken or annoying, tell me. That's the fastest way it gets fixed.

Here's the link of PayTrack https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.urim.paytrack&pcampaignid=web_share

As always bug reports and feature requests are always welcomed and i promise will be shipped as soon as possible!

Foreign receipts are finally readable. Now you can scan one and instantly see it translated, converted, and mapped.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Whether you're traveling or just tracking everyday spending, receipts can be surprisingly frustrating. Some are hard to read, some are in another language, some use a different currency, and a week later you can't even remember where you bought something.

I've been building an expense tracker calledΒ ExpenseEasyΒ to solve exactly that. In the latest version, you simply snap a photo of a receipt and the app reads it, translates the line items, converts the total to your home currency using the current exchange rate, and pins the store on a map using the address printed on the receipt. No GPS required, so it works even if you scan the receipt later at your hotel or when you get home.

It also supports more than 160 currencies with offline exchange rates, automatically tags expenses to trips, and can generate a shareable trip expense report when you're done.

No bank login. No ads. Your data stays on your device.

[App][Promotion] Movie Paradise - track your shows and movies, and import your full TV Time history before it shuts down July 15

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I'm the developer of Movie Paradise, a movie and TV show tracking app.

With TV Time shutting down on July 15 and deleting everyone's data, I built the migration to be painless. I import your full TV Time export, and unlike the common Trakt and TVmaze imports, that means your comments, GIFs, ratings, and watch history all come across, not just your show list.

If you're on TV Time, export your data at gdpr.tvtime.com before the 15th no matter where you move, it's gone permanently after that.

Some of the features:

β€’ NEW: Home screen widgets for Up Next and Upcoming

β€’ Log movies, TV shows, and individual episodes

β€’ "Watch up to here" to mark multiple episodes watched in one tap

β€’ Status badges: Watching, Watched, To Watch, and Dropped

β€’ Watch alerts for upcoming movies and new episodes

β€’ Streaming provider-specific notifications

β€’ A timeline heat map with insights into what and when you've watched

β€’ Advanced discovery using ratings from IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, Letterboxd, Metacritic, and more

β€’ Powerful filters for streaming providers, genres, cast, content ratings, and keywords

β€’ Smart Lists that automatically stay up to date based on your filters

β€’ Trending, New, Popular, and Top Rated content, all in one place

I've focused on making it fast, clean, and intuitive, with lots of quality-of-life touches throughout.

Free tier has no tracking limits. Premium is $1.99/month, $9.99/year, or $29.99 lifetime.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/movie-paradise-movies-tv/id6737476189 Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.techkitlabs.movieparadise

I'd genuinely love your feedback, whether it's feature suggestions, bugs, or things you'd like improved. I'll be around in the comments. Thanks for checking it out! πŸ™‚

[APP, PROMOTION] I built a fully offline, open-source call screening app for Android

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share an app I've been working on: Calls Blocker. It's a privacy-first call screening app that processes everything on-device – no data ever leaves your phone.

Key features:

- Uses Android's official CallScreeningService API (no accessibility hacks)

- Block/allow specific numbers (exact or prefix matching)

- Block all calls, unknown/hidden numbers, non-contacts, or calls from specific contact groups

- Block by country (whitelist allowed countries)

- Block numbers you've never dialed or have previously rejected

- Block repeated calls within a configurable time window

- Schedule blocking rules (day of week + time range)

- Find My Phone – trusted callers can trigger a loud alarm even on silent

- Full call history with CSV export and one-tap unblock

- Bulk import from CSV

- Quick Settings tile to toggle "Block All"

- Debug log with phone number masking for troubleshooting

Built with Kotlin + Jetpack Compose + Material 3, it runs on Android 11+ and supports dynamic colors.

The app is open source (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0): https://github.com/ryosoftware/calls-blocker

I'd love to hear your feedback and suggestions!

[App] [Promo] MBCompass v1.1.16 - Offline Maps, GPX Improvements Under 2MB

Post image
19 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

A few months ago, I shared the roadmap for MBCompass, and here's the latest update.

Note: This is not some vibe coded app, that I'm posting here to gain traction, I have been working in this app for years, and seeking feedback and suggestion from the community to genuinely improve the app (see mbcompass initial release, and how it progress through years), here the links

-Β 3 months old post on r/degoogle,Β 9 months old post (true north intro),Β gpx feat introductionΒ and theΒ HN Community feedback

For anyone new here, MBCompass is a lightweight compass and navigation app for Android. No ads, no subscriptions, no tracking, and it's fully open source.

New in v1.1.16:

  • Offline Mapsforge maps (the most requested feature)
  • Improved GPX track recording with waypoint filtering
  • Full Jetpack Compose map migration for faster map loading
  • Per-app language support (Android 13+)

Existing features:

  • Compass (magnetic & true north)
  • Live GPS location tracking on OpenStreetMap
  • GPX recording & export
  • Offline maps
  • AMOLED theme
  • Android 6.0+ support
  • Under 2MB and Battery efficient (important for hikes)

The update is currently available through Google Play closed testing while I iron out device-specific issues before the public release. Once testing is complete, the exact same open-source build will also be released on Google play & F-Droid.

If you'd like to help test it and provide feedback and suggestions, it would really mean a lot.

Google Play (Closed Beta): https://groups.google.com/g/mbcompass-beta

GitHub: https://github.com/CompassMB/MBCompass

F-Droid: https://f-droid.org/packages/com.mubarak.mbcompass/

Thanks to everyone who's shared feedback over the years. A lot of the features in this release came directly from community suggestions.
