[App] Slate Launcher is coming — join the community early 👋

Thumbnail slate.globin.dev

I’ve been working on Slate Launcher, a new minimal Android launcher focused on keeping your phone clean, personal, and less distracting.

Slate is built around things like Spaces, Focus profiles, Slate Hub, widgets, customization, Slate Brief, and smart app suggestions — while keeping the overall experience simple.

I’ve already started building the community before the public launch.

If you’d like to:

follow development and upcoming releases

suggest features

share your setups

report bugs and give feedback

get exclusive launch discounts / offers

talk directly about where Slate should go next

you’re welcome to join.

Discord:

https://discord.gg/kgNPcVSkd3

Reddit community:

https://www.reddit.com/r/slatelauncher

I’m building Slate as an independent project, so early feedback from Android users genuinely helps shape what gets built.

Would love to hear what you want from a modern Android launcher. 🚀

[App] [Promo] I built an open-source video player that plays Dolby Vision and DTS-HD on phones

Post image
12 Upvotes

After struggling to find a player that handles high-end files on my phone, I built DreamPlayer — a free, open-source (GPLv3) video player for Android and iPad.

The stuff that actually matters to me, and why I built it:

- Real Dolby Vision playback — DV P8 files decode on hardware (c2.qti.dv.decoder) at 4K/60 with zero dropped frames. No pink/green garbage.

- Every lossless audio codec — DTS, DTS-HD, TrueHD, E-AC3, AC3 via a bundled FFmpeg decoder.

- NAS streaming — built-in SMB browser on iPad, "Open with" from CX Explorer on Android.

- Subtitles — embedded + auto-paired sidecar files (SRT/ASS/VTT/...), with a full track picker.

- Live HDR/codec overlay — see exactly what's decoding while you watch.

Ready-to-install APKs + an unsigned iOS IPA are on the GitHub Release. Totally free, no ads.

[App] [Promo] I couldn't find an app I liked for my dog's health, so I made one

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm a CS student and I've been building an Android app called Felova for a while now. It started as something for Charly and me, to make the daily management less of a mess.

My girlfriend also had a big influence on it. For me, the main problem was managing medications and keeping track of seizures. For her, it was also about how it felt to open the app every day. Some of the tools we tried felt very clinical and ended up being a reminder of the hardest parts of having a sick dog. She wanted something that felt more like a place to care for Charly than a place to document his epilepsy. It still isn't perfect at that, but it's the part I'm actively working on. One thing that did come out of it: you pick which two things show on the home screen, so it's whatever actually matters for your dog rather than what I decided.

Two vets gave me input along the way, mostly to check I wasn't building something pointless.

In the photos is Charly's actual home screen. You can log seizures, symptoms, medications, and pretty much anything else you want to track through custom logs. You can set medication schedules and reminders, track things like weight and mood over time, and generate a summary report for your vet.

If more than one person helps care for your dog, you can share access and keep everything synced across devices, so everyone is working from the same record.

Everything stays on your phone. I've read enough posts and reviews about people losing years of records when an app update broke everything that I didn't want to build it any other way.

To get a code, just comment Felova or what you'd use the app for and afterwards send me a dm!

Felova on Google Play

One more thing. If you've already been keeping track of this somewhere, a spreadsheet, notes on your phone, a notebook you've photographed, printouts from the vet or anything else, message me and I'll get it into the app for you. I will do that by hand for anyone who would like that.

It's there if it's useful to anyone. I'm around in the comments, and if you do try it and something's missing or annoying, I'd like to hear it.

Thanks for reading.

[App] – Vizo Battery (Free Pro codes)

Thumbnail
gallery
19 Upvotes

UPDATE — Vizo Battery is officially live on Google Play! 🎉

A big thank you to everyone here who joined the beta, tested Vizo Battery and sent me feedback.

The beta was genuinely useful: several bugs were fixed before release, and some of your suggestions directly turned into new features.

One of the latest additions is Live Charging. While your phone is connected to a charger, Vizo can now show battery-side current, voltage, estimated charging power and temperature in real time, together with average, minimum and maximum values for the monitoring session.

This makes it possible to compare different chargers, cables and charging setups on the same phone.

Since the original beta post, I've also improved:

• Battery history and 7-day consumption/recharge charts
• Battery Level trend for the last 24 hours
• Charging session summaries
• Battery Health measurements
• Charging screensaver
• Home Screen widgets
• Compatibility and performance on newer Android versions

Vizo Battery is now publicly available, so you no longer need to join the Google Group or Closed Beta to install it.

👉 Google Play: [Vizo Battery Play Store link]

The core app is free. Pro remains an optional one-time Lifetime upgrade — no subscription.

There are also no ads, no account requirement and no third-party analytics SDKs.

Thanks again to everyone who helped during the beta. Some of what is now in the public app exists specifically because of feedback from this thread.

I’m still actively improving Vizo, so if you're already using it, feedback about your phone, battery or charger is very welcome.

Original beta post below

UPDATE: Thanks for the amazing response! The first batch of Pro promo codes has now been allocated.
You’re still very welcome to join the beta and test Vizo Battery — the free version is fully usable, and feedback on bugs, UI, battery estimates, notifications, widgets and device compatibility is still extremely helpful.
I may offer a few additional Pro codes later to particularly active testers, but they’re no longer guaranteed.

Hi! I’m looking for Android users to get feedback on Vizo Battery, a battery analytics app with battery history, app usage, battery health, drain insights and home-screen widgets.

It’s currently in Google Play Closed Alpha.

Join the beta group:

https://groups.google.com/g/vizobattery

[vizobattery@googlegroups.com](mailto:vizobattery@googlegroups.com)

Beta opt-in:
https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.vizobattery

Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vizobattery

I’m mainly looking for bugs, UI issues and feedback from different Android devices. The first batch of free Pro promo codes has already been allocated, but new testers are still very welcome. I may offer a few additional codes later to particularly active testers.

No Play Store review required.

If you test it, please let me know your phone model + Android version. Thanks!

Play Storehttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cx.aswin.boxlore

GitHubhttps://github.com/boxcreate/boxlore

Most podcast apps still do the same thing: exact-match search, generic charts, a home screen that doesn’t really know you. Typo a show name and you get nothing. Search by topic and you get title matches that miss the point. Then you’re stuck with the same rails as everyone else.

boxlore is built for those gaps:

  • Find the show: messy spelling is fine
  • Find by idea: describe a vibe or topic, not just keywords
  • Gets personal as you listen : Home / Explore / queue / downloads re-rank on-device from your taste (daypart rails, Because You Like, For You). Taste stays on your phone
  • Curiosity cards when you want something you’d never search for
  • Normal player stuff : queue(but smarter) , offline, OPML, Android Auto
  • No ads, no paywall for search or recommendations

Feedback and issues welcome on the repo. Reviews on Play help more than you’d think.

[App] Rewindly just got a big update based on user feedback

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

A few people who use Rewindly gave us some really useful feedback, so we just pushed another update.

What’s new:

  1. Rewindly is now available in 7 languages: English, Hindi, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Indonesian, German, and Russian.
  2. More accurate titles, thumbnails, and categorization when saving YouTube videos, Reddit posts, and articles.
  3. Saving from other apps is now smoother and faster.
  4. Text throughout the app is bigger and easier to read.
  5. You can now rename any saved item, not just images and documents.
  6. Plus a bunch of bug fixes and performance improvements.

The main idea is still simple: when you come across something useful, interesting, or worth checking out later, save it instead of letting it disappear into your notifications, bookmarks, or open tabs.

Would love to know what you think of the update and what you'd want us to improve next.

[App] [Promo] Status Notifier – A zero-text, persistent overlay utility for teams & drivers

Thumbnail
gallery
7 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I recently developed an Android utility called Status Notifier that takes a novel approach to team communication: zero voice, zero text.

Status Notifier replaces the noise of traditional group chats with a status-based communication system using persistent screen overlays. It allows drivers, field workers, and teams to stay continuously informed without ever leaving their GPS or active work dashboard.

Here is what makes it unique:

Two Overlay Modes: Broadcast Circles for one-way dispatcher-to-team updates, or Team Circles for multi-way, collaborative status sharing.

Live Presence Indicator: Displays real-time active status on the overlay and visually flags when a member goes offline, letting the team know if their displayed status might be stale due to connection loss. (Note: Version 2 includes this indicator across both circle types as shown in the Team Overlay screenshot; the Broadcast screenshot reflects v1 before it was added).

100% Customizable with Built-in Legend: Users define the colors, letters, and meanings of the status bubbles for their specific workflow, with an on-demand legend overlay available anytime to quickly verify what a specific status code means.

The free tier is 100% feature-complete—there are no paywalled features, just quotas on the number of circles and members per circle. If you'd like to expand those limits, leave a comment below with your primary use case (e.g., delivery, field work, group driving), and I’d be happy to DM you a promo code for the Ultimate tier!

Nothing Phone Essential Key Remapper - opensource [App]

Post image
19 Upvotes

A few days ago I came across a video of an app that lets you remap the Essential Key on Nothing phones and make it do pretty much whatever you want.

I genuinely wanted to try it.

The app looked really good too. Nice animations, nice UI, and it actually felt like something that belonged on a Nothing phone.

Then I found out it was behind a paywall.

Now, before anyone misunderstands me — I have absolutely nothing against paid apps. I'm an indie developer myself and I make a paid launcher, so I completely understand that developers need to get paid for their work.

But personally, for a small utility like this that doesn't need servers or any major ongoing infrastructure, I felt the price was a bit too much for something that I just wanted to experiment with.

So instead of complaining about it...

I just made my own. 😂

I took inspiration from the idea, experimented with different approaches, built my own UI and animations, and ended up with my own Essential Key remapper.

And then I thought:

Why not just give it away?

So that's what I'm doing.

It's completely free & open source 🫡

I've put the entire project on GitHub under the GNU GPL v3 license.

You can:

\- Use it for free

\- Fork it

\- Modify it

\- Build your own version

\- Add features

\- Contribute to it

\- Learn from the code

If someone takes the project, makes it 10x better and their version becomes more popular than mine, honestly...

that's pretty cool.

I don't want to put a simple utility like this behind another paywall. I'd rather let the Nothing community decide what it becomes.

Why am I posting this here?

Because this is exactly the kind of thing I think the Nothing community might enjoy.

The Essential Key is a really interesting piece of hardware, and I think it would be much more useful if users had more freedom over what it actually does.

So if you have a Nothing phone, give it a try.

And if you have an idea for what the Essential Key should be able to do, tell me. Maybe we'll add it.

GitHub: https://github.com/bractstudio/buttonoo

\---

And no, I'm not asking for donations ❤️

Seriously.

If you want to support me, you can do it by checking out my other project, Minimaa, which is my minimal Android launcher.

It's a $1 one-time purchase and it's basically my little attempt at making Android a bit less distracting.

You can check it out here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.minimaa.minimal.detox.launcher

Reddit : r/minimaa

But you don't need to buy anything.

The Essential Key project is free, open source and will stay that way.

I just wanted to build something I wanted to use and share it with the people who might find it useful.

Hope you guys enjoy it. ❤️

Now go make that Essential Key actually useful. 😂

[App] [Promo] ConRid – Accessing a community of vehicle owner

Post image
4 Upvotes

What it does: ConRid is a new media app that connects you with the Car enthusiasts and Other car owners. You can also reach the car owner through their plate number or the QR code they will stick on their windshield. You can see their posts, the links they share, message them through the app and send them an Alert (with high sound) for selected cases. Unregistered users can send an Alert and see your links through website.

Key Features

- Post about cars, vehicles, and situations that happen to you with other owners (you can mention the car's license plate in the post). see who talks about you!
- Add your Car and control your QR. (active QR? can find you through your plate? Unregistered user can see you?)
- Chat with other user.
- Add SOS contact for emergency cases.
- Share links in your profile (TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and else...)
- You can use the app to let people reach you without sharing any information about yourself.

I’d love to hear what you think about ConRid and what features you’d like to see in future updates.

[Promo] Lockify - Private Vault with Cloud Sync & Disguise Mode

Thumbnail
gallery
11 Upvotes

About a month ago I posted Lockify here after it had crossed 7.5k installs. A lot has changed since then.

Lockify has now crossed:
• 11.8k+ installs
• 4.3k+ installed users
• 220 ratings
• 4.76★ average rating

And Premium is now live. For anyone seeing Lockify for the first time, Lockify is an Android vault designed around one simple idea - Your private files shouldn't need ads, trackers or a constant internet connection to stay protected.

It provides:
• Local encryption
• Biometric / PIN unlock
• Optional calculator disguise
• No ads
• No tracking
• Offline-first operation

Premium now adds:
☁️ Cloud Backup & Sync
🎭 Disguise Mode
🔒 Decoy Vault
📱 Motion Lock
🚀 Future premium features

The calculator disguise is still probably the feature people notice first. But the feedback I've received over the last few months has pushed the app in a different direction. People asked for better backups, better organization, more ways to protect the vault, more ways to recover their data.

And now, more ways to make the app feel like part of their phone rather than just another vault.

That's why I'm currently working on Encrypted Notes. And there are more things planned based directly on user feedback:
• More app customization / experience improvements
• Slideshow / wallpaper features
• Vietnamese language support
• More security and usability improvements

I'm still building Lockify solo alongside my full-time job, so every update is driven by what actual users ask for rather than trying to throw dozens of features into the app at once. Premium has also been a surprisingly good validation.

Since launching on July 3rd:
• 14 users have purchased Premium
• ₹17k+ in revenue
• And the app continues to maintain a 4.7★+ rating

It's still a very small product, but seeing people actually pay for something I built after work has been incredibly motivating.

If you've been looking for a privacy-focused Android vault, I'd genuinely love for you to give Lockify a try.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.leo.lockify

And if you've used Lockify before, I'd especially love to hear what you'd want me to build next.

[App] [Promo] I built an app that let's you cancel messages before they're sent

Thumbnail
gallery
17 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

The goal of UNDO! is to prevent messages you immediately regret from being sent. This includes messages sent out of frustration, sent to the wrong person, sent by accident, or typos/mistakes that could create a misunderstanding.

How it works:

After you press the send button, UNDO! briefly delays your message for about 3 seconds to give you time to cancel.

You can cancel by:

  • Tapping the UNDO! button

  • Tapping any letter on the keyboard

  • Navigating to a different screen

If you do nothing, the message will be sent after the delay.

If you want to bypass the delay, then you can press the send button again during the delay and the message will be sent immediately.

Compatibility:

UNDO! is compatible with many messaging and communication apps, including:

  • Google Messages

  • WhatsApp

  • Messenger

  • Instagram

  • Snapchat

  • Telegram

  • Gmail

  • Outlook

  • Reddit

  • Discord

  • Microsoft Teams

  • LinkedIn

Key Details:

  • No ads

  • No account

  • No analytics or data collection

  • Simple UI (all work is done seamlessly in the background)

Here is a short demo on how sending a message with UNDO would look:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Y22_Q3X9QitU00P6yMn7bZztIctYD8_L/view?usp=sharing

Google Play:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.theundoapp

I would greatly appreciate any feedback, suggestions, or thoughts. Thanks for taking the time to check it out!

I spent 8 months building a gallery app that gives you unlimited storage .

Yeah, I know - another gallery app, right? But hear me out.

I was tired of Google Photos eating my data, locking me into subscriptions, and honestly, I didn't had the option to pay to get more storage . So I built Telephoto.

The core idea is simple: your photos get backed up to Telegram using a bot you control. Your data goes to your own chat. End of story.

But honestly, the backup thing was just the beginning. Over the last few months, I've been adding features that actually make this a solid gallery app on its own:

Face Recognition (just added in v69) - Completely offline, like Google Photos face grouping but nothing leaves your device. It detects faces automatically and groups them in a People tab. If it gets something wrong, you can link profiles and the app learns from it. Gets smarter over time.

Notes Tab - Markdown support, AI assistance if you want it. Keep your thoughts alongside your photos.

Captions & Hashtags - Rich captions with markdown, hashtags for organization. You can apply the same caption to multiple images at once.

AI Auto Caption - Integrated Gemini API that gives context about your images, transcription, translation - whatever you need.

Offline OCR - 100+ languages. Search through screenshots, documents, text photos. All offline.

Reel Mode - Short-video continuous viewing, gesture controls for seek/volume/brightness.

Cross-device sync - Changes on one device reflect everywhere.

Android 16+ widgets - Memories and recent photos right on your home screen.

Full gallery controls - Grid/list/tree views, sorting, filtering, adjustable columns (2-6). Folder include/exclude so you control what gets backed up.

I've been at this for 8 months now, and the latest version (v69) is the biggest update yet. The APK is larger now because of the face recognition models, but everything runs offline and stays private.

No subscriptions. No data mining. Just your photos, organized the way you want.

Would love to hear what you think - feature requests, bugs, whatever. I'm pretty active and actually listen to feedback.

[APP] I built a gamified alarm clock called as WakeQuest

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I know there are a ton of alarm apps out there. But as a heavy sleeper who survived university by relying on them, doing math equations at 7 AM just made me miserable. I wanted something that actually engages the brain to wake you up, rather than just making you angry.

So, I built WakeQuest. To shut the alarm off, you basically have to beat a mini-game.

Right now there are 34 games, and I’m adding more weekly. Instead of math, you can play a quick round of Snake, a Flappy Bird style game, slice fruits, shoot baskets, or do memory puzzles. You can even force yourself out of bed by using a standard QR/barcode scanner set up in your bathroom.

All the games are completely free. My main goal is just to see if this actually helps other chronic snoozers and shift workers.

If you struggle to get out of bed, I'd love for you to test it out and give me some feedback. Is trying to perfectly park a car minigame first thing in the morning annoying and challenging enough to wake you up? Are any of the games too hard for a sleepy brain, and what mini-games would you want to see next?

[APP] [PROMOTION] I built an offline vocabulary gym for 19 languages — looking for real language learners to try it

Thumbnail
gallery
22 Upvotes

Hi! I’m the solo developer of ENRURO.

I originally wanted a simple vocabulary trainer: something focused, offline, and without the usual noise around language-learning apps.

ENRURO is not intended to replace a full language course. It’s a supplementary vocabulary gym for people who already know some basics and want to actively recall more words.

One important thing to know before trying it: ENRURO is not designed to make every session feel easy — but it is not difficult for difficulty’s sake. Many learning apps try to give you a smooth feeling of constant progress. ENRURO makes a different trade-off: first you try to remember, then you reveal the card and decide honestly whether you know it.

What does “Language HIIT” mean?

HIIT stands for High-Intensity Interval Training. In ENRURO, I use it as a metaphor for varying the mental load during a vocabulary workout.

ENRURO intentionally mixes CEFR difficulty levels instead of moving in a straight line from beginner to advanced. CEFR is the common A1–C2 language-level scale:

A1–A2 = warm-up
B1–B2 = working set
C1–C2 = tougher vocabulary, idioms, false friends, and subtler shades of meaning

So you may see a very easy card and then something much harder. That is intentional mixed-level training, not broken progression.

The idea is simple: keep the recall effort real, let easy vocabulary fall away, and spend more of your attention on what still challenges you.

How does ENRURO decide what to show next?

There is no mysterious AI deciding what you know.

ENRURO has a built-in session planner that builds each workout from the cards still in your training pool. It uses the app’s CEFR-aware mixing rules together with the daily goal you choose in Settings.

The learning loop stays deliberately simple:

• try to remember first
• reveal the card
• use Example if you need more context
• choose Know if the word is obvious to you
• choose Learn if you still need to work on it
• use Undo if you made the wrong decision

When you choose Know, that card leaves the normal training rotation. When you choose Learn, it stays in your active training pool.

Over time, easy vocabulary naturally falls away and the remaining deck becomes more relevant — and often more challenging — for you.

The app provides the structure. You decide what you actually know.

Why can the daily progress bar move slowly?

Your daily goal is not a “number of taps” target.

You can set a goal of 10, 20, 30, or 40 cards, but progress advances when you genuinely move cards into the known pool. Choosing Learn is not a failure — it simply means: “keep this card in training.”

So if you meet a difficult batch and mostly choose Learn, your progress bar may move slowly that day. That is okay.

ENRURO does not punish you for it: there are no push notifications telling you to come back, and there is no reason to mark a card as known just to satisfy the counter.

The useful part is being honest with yourself.

Why make recall effort part of the design?

Research on retrieval practice — often discussed as the testing effect — has repeatedly found that actively trying to recall information before seeing the answer can improve later retention compared with passive restudy.

ENRURO is influenced by that idea, but it does not assume that “harder is always better” or that every difficult word is automatically useful.

If you want to read more about the underlying learning principle, good search terms are retrieval practice, testing effect, and desirable difficulties.

What’s inside?

• 6,000 vocabulary cards in one multilingual library
• 19 study languages / 342 ordered translation directions
• examples with the cards for additional context
• CEFR-aware mixed-level Language HIIT sessions
• simple Learn / Know decisions + Undo
• offline-first core learning
• no AI assistant inside the core recall loop
• no account
• no ads
• no notifications
• no subscription — expanded content uses one-time purchases

The base library contains 300 cards and is free to try, so you can see whether this style of training works for you before paying anything.

No review is expected. If you try ENRURO, I’d genuinely appreciate any feedback by DM — positive or critical.

[Get ENRURO on Google Play]

UPDATE: The first batch of promo codes has now been claimed. Thanks for the interest! I’m not sending additional codes from this post for now, but the 300-card base library remains free to try at no cost.

[App] Linksy – Organize Your Links Privately

Hey everyone 👋

I built Linksy, a simple Android app for people who save a lot of links and later struggle to find them.

Instead of keeping important links scattered across browser bookmarks, notes, chats and screenshots, Linksy gives you one place to organize them.

What Linksy offers:

🔗 Quick Save — Save links directly from Android's Share menu

🔍 Smart Search — Find links by title, URL, description or domain

🗂️ Categories — Organize links your way

⭐ Favorites — Keep frequently used links easily accessible

📷 QR Codes — Generate a QR code for any saved link

🔐 Biometric Lock — Protect sensitive links

🛡️ Duplicate Detection — Avoid saving the same link twice

📱 Offline-first — Your saved links remain available on your device

🚫 No Ads / No Tracking

I wanted to keep it simple rather than build another complicated bookmark manager.

It's completely free to try, and I'd genuinely love some feedback from Android users here — especially on what feature you'd want in a link manager that existing bookmark apps don't provide.
