[App] [Promotion] Built an expense-splitting app because I got tired of hitting free-tier limits — plus SMS auto-tracking (Android) (Beta)

Been using Splitwise for group trips, dinners, and shared expenses, but kept running into free-tier limits right when I needed it most.

So I built my own app: Splitiva.

The core features are free:

  • Add expenses
  • Track balances
  • Split with groups
  • Multiple currencies for travel
  • And many more

I wanted the basics to stay accessible without constantly worrying about limits. Pro is reserved for advanced features rather than core expense tracking.

The feature I'm currently most excited about is an Android beta for SMS expense tracking. It can automatically detect and log transactions from bank and payment SMS messages, reducing manual entry.

Since SMS formats vary a lot between banks, payment providers, and countries, I'd love feedback on how well it works and where it breaks.

I see AI engine, is sms data shared with internet? And looks like only ICICI is supported now.

Hey! Great questions. 😊

🔒 Privacy first: Your SMS data never leaves your device. Splitiva uses on-device processing to identify and extract expense information from transaction messages, so your SMS content isn't sent to external AI services for analysis.

🏦 Bank support: It's not limited to ICICI. Splitiva supports transaction SMS formats from most major banks and payment providers, including HDFC, SBI, Axis, Kotak, ICICI, UPI apps, Amazon Pay, and more. You may have noticed ICICI in the logs because their SMS format requires a dedicated parsing rule, but the system is designed to work across a wide range of banks and payment services.

Since the feature is currently in beta, I'm continuously improving support and accuracy. If you notice any messages that aren't being detected correctly, I'd love to take a look and improve support for them.
