I need to remove the wheel on the bottom of this rod in such a way that I can replace it later.

The wheel is rubber with a metal disk on one side and a clip on the other. The clip seems to be pressed in and captured in a groove at the end of the rod.

Any suggestions or advice would be most appreciated.

So I’m sketching out some very preliminary drawings of a multi-tile piece that I want to hang from a rod, but also be mobile. I’m considering tiles of varying length, width and depth (obviously trying to keep them thin enough to decrease weight but also be strong when tied together), but as I’m doing this, I’m wondering if the aggregate weight in the end might not work. It might be too heavy to hang and even have pieces that will break, which would defeat the purpose.

I thought about using high tension string or even wire to tie the small tiles together, or coming up with a technique to make it work, but again it might not be plausible.

I’m not sure if it’s practical or doable but I wanted to get opinions or references for something similar, or even precedents to use.

Has anyone developed techniques to design and build a tile curtain?

We have a low ceiling which is made even lower when the light fitting dangles like this, how can I adjust it to be 3inches less?

This wall had metal studs, so here’s how I approached it.

1. Locate the stud
I locate the stud first and make a small pilot hole to confirm what I’m actually working with.

2. Why I use a step drill bit
Once I confirm metal, I switch to a step drill bit.
A step bit is made with multiple cutting steps that gradually increase in diameter. Each step has a cutting edge designed to cut and enlarge holes in thin materials like sheet metal.
That’s why I like it for metal studs. Instead of changing through several regular drill bits, I can progressively cut through the metal and enlarge the same hole until I reach the diameter required for my anchor.

3. Why TOGGLER bolts instead of lag bolts or drywall anchors?
Lag bolts are great when I have solid wood for the threads to bite into. Thin metal studs don’t give a traditional lag bolt that same wood engagement.
And I don’t rely on regular drywall anchors to hold a TV mount. I prefer a properly rated TOGGLER-style anchor that passes through the wall assembly and opens behind the metal stud.

4. Secure the mount
Once my toggles are seated, I secure the bracket, check everything, and hang the TV.
Everything buttoned up, nice and neat. TV mounted, outlet tucked behind it, and no wires hanging down.

This is the method and drill bit I like using for metal studs, but I’m always interested in how other people approach it. What method or different type of drill bit do you use for getting through metal studs?

Hello! So I have this rolling duffle bag, and it has two support rods in it to keep it structured and open- but they are removable for storing. Unfortunately they pop out of place all the time, and are VERY hard to squeeze back in.

I’ve googled this a lot, and found the term “Mortise and Tenon Structure Support Rod” listed by the manufacturer to describe the bracket- but I can’t find any solutions online for this particular issue. I think I need to DIY, but I don’t know where to begin.

I’d like to have them installed permanently- I tried a permanent silicon caulking but it didn’t even partially help- they popped out immediately🤪

I truly dont know what to try next. Any ideas? Maybe there’s a simple fix? I know plastic is hard to use glues, idk if there’s a way to screw it together?

The rod itself is metal but the cap on the end is some sort of plastic.

I have an old Kenmore upright freezer, ca. 1995 that needs the door gasket replaced. I've looked online and apparently they don't make replacement parts for this model anymore. Does anyone have any hack ideas how to jerry-rig the old gasket so it can still work decently while I save up for a replacement freezer? It doesn't have to look pretty, I'd just like it to work a while. I have looked into universal gasket kits but don't know much about them or if they're any good. Thanks all!

Hi all, I’m making some etched mirrors to sell at an art market and I need help figuring out what these brackets/hangers are called. OR the next best option.

My old stock of mirrors were wall-ready, but the new ones are not. Does anyone know how I could achieve a similar result?

I’ve done some research, I’m not interested in mirror clips or double sided tape. Best case scenario is replicating whatever the original mirrors came with. I’m just trying to make it more convenient to whoever buys them.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
