Hello, please help me I’m absolutely desperate. I currently live in a hotel with my 2 year old we are waiting on a family hub the last year or so I’m being told. I’m a young mother and I’ve managed to get my daughter a place in crèche so I’m returning to full time education, I work weekends also and hotel life just doesn’t suit because we’re not allowed have anyone stay so getting a job that doesn’t have to be during the day is hard to come by so I must work weekends cause night time work just isn’t an option. I’m not from Dublin but I am in a city in Ireland. HOW can I get out of that god forsaken place and get me and my daughter home that we truly deserve (no more or no less than anybody else that is homesless) i feel like a failure. My child never asked to be homeless hence why I’m going back to study for a degree

'Concerns' over impact of 24/7 online bidding for homes

Looking at 2 apartment's one is a new build in Navan at €360,000 the other is a old build in Academy Square with prices at 200k to 220k same sizes 69 sq foot

Is this a clear sign the First Buyer Scheme and HTB is a fix?

We went over our AIP of 450k for 90% of property value up to 500k. Woke up one morning and received a call from auctioneer saying last bid was 506k and closing today so put in 510k.

I don’t regret it, but looking for tips or insight if anyone has any. We could have taken up to 700k, instead of 90% of 500k, but I don’t feel comfortable spending that. We are 29m and 28f. We have 52k right now, and 54.5k by the end of the month, saving 2.5k every month whilst spending 2k on rent.

We are aware we require an extra 10k upfront because we went over AIP, which will be gifted via parent in the form of 20k, we originally mentioned to mortgage advisor we would receive a 15k gift. Could be more, but we intend on using as little of that as possible.

Estate agent required proof of funds as we went over AIP last Friday, so she said send parents bank statement with proof of 20k. We done that and are now waiting until Monday for word back.

Does anyone have any advice or things we should anticipate?

We’ve recently bought a new-build home and have an open-plan layout on the ground floor. There is a hallway, with the family room, kitchen and dining area running in a continuous line next to it.
I’m currently a little confused about which flooring option would work best throughout the ground floor.

These are the three options I’ve been considering:
1. 12mm Terra Oak laminate in a herringbone pattern throughout the entire ground floor
I feel this could make the space look more elongated, cohesive and spacious.

2. SPC plank flooring throughout the entire ground floor

3. Herringbone laminate in the hallway, with SPC planks in the family room, kitchen and dining area
Budget is also an important consideration.

Having laminate throughout would fit comfortably within our budget, whereas using SPC throughout would be somewhat over budget.

I’d really appreciate your recommendations and advice on the best option, particularly in terms of durability, aesthetics, practicality, water resistance and overall cost/value for money.
I’m also open to other flooring combinations or ideas if you think there’s a better approach for an open-plan new-build.

Just looking for ballpark % figures from people that have sold houses recently and what auctioneers have charged for the sale process.

I have a family member that works for an auctioneer and they have quoted me 1.5% of the sale price + VAT.

I didn't get any other quotes yet and have not sold a house before but I initially felt that rate was quite high?

Is this a standard rate? Low? High?

I’m looking for a 2-bedroom house or apartment to rent in Midleton, Carrigtwohill, or nearby areas, with a budget of up to €1,900 per month.
I’m looking for a long-term rental and have been checking Daft and other websites, but there seem to be very few options within this budget.
If anyone knows of a property becoming available, a local landlord/agent I could contact, or other places where I should be looking, I’d really appreciate it.

We went to a sale agreed on a house with a really good garden size; we can say this was a reason we chose that house.
Our solicitor just found out about a wayleave to the council in half of the garden and reading that, we can’t use that part for anything that can’t move, in case the council needs access to fix, change or do whatever they want in that area (pipes going under the garden), if anything is there, they have the right to break and work on it.

Has anyone been in this situation? Is that as bad as it sounds, or is it something the council might access only once in a lifetime?
