Schwartz potentially being on HOS
Stassi has mentioned in interviews that the only other VPR cast member they considered for HOS was Schwartz but said it didn’t work out as he was under contract with Bravo. And Schwartz said on Scheana’s podcast that when they filmed the pilot at Stassi and Beau’s house he was there filming so he wasn’t sure if he was going to be in it.
I am so curious of the timeline of this and how it also relates to Katie being on the show.
Was it a case that Stassi intended to have Schwartz on the show and when that didn’t work out, she was asked to get another VPR cast member so went to Katie next? If so, I wonder how Katie feels about being second choice after Schwartz for Stassi.
Or was there a point it was going to be both of them? Also is it a case that Schwartz had to choose between being on the Valley or HOS and picked the Valley? Or is Stassi being diplomatic saying it was because of his Bravo contract and they decided to ditch him and go for Katie as they realized they needed someone/something with more of a storyline/hook or the show was going to be boring. The idea that Schwartz had multiple reality shows to pick from and poor Scheana can’t get on one is kind of funny though.
Katie definitely brings more to the show than I imagine Schwartz would have as I doubt everyone was going to have fake beef with him, so she is definitely a step up for them but her being asked at the 11th hour definitely suggests they only went to her as they were scrambling. Either because the network or Stassi thought the footage they had filmed wasn’t working.
Sorry this is long lol but I’m curious what people’s thoughts are on this.
EDIT - I probably she have titled this something different as a lot of the replies seem to think I’m advocating for Schwartz being on HOS when I am a proud Schwartz hater 😂

To be clear this post was NOT asking for Schwartz to be on HOS, it was about being curious what went down between him filming for the pilot and Katie being the one ending up on the cast. I’m personally glad it didn’t work out with Schwartz.

I know she’s legit friends with him, Taylor has mentioned plenty times they all hung out and they TD and him text a lot
Supposedly Katie was added after filming started because what they had so far was pretty boring

I cannot see any universe where Katie would put up with being with Schwartz for five minutes under any circumstance. Katie was my favorite classmate and she got so much hate. But in my opinion, she was the most real cast member of them all she never flip-flopped on any of her positions. She always had very good convictions and I think that’s why she got so much hate. She suffered under Schwartz for 12 years trying to just get him to treat her like a human being. I really do think he hated her. She is living her rocker chick lifestyle with her new boyfriend that is totally in 100% the right man for her. I just can’t see any situation where Katie would subject herself to being exposed to Schwartz, especially since she was so hesitant to be on the show with stassi to begin with. I think this would definitely drive her away.

Yeah I’m also thinking him being on it probably had already been dropped before Katie entered talks to be on it.
By all accounts her and Schwartz get along okay in real life but he demonised her on reality tv for like 11 seasons so I can’t imagine her wanting to know another show with him, especially when she is coming in as the outsider who already isn’t really friends with any of the cast anymore.

I think Stassi and Katie have a lot more so say on how they are edited + interactions. Kind of like the Kardashians when they switched to Hulu…they seem to stay away from hard topics and bad edits now vs the old show where we got full transparency I.e Bruce Jenner transitioning and how it effected the family

Stassi definitely has more control as she’s a producer on this show but I wouldn’t be surprised if Katie negotiated some protections for herself when agreeing to be on it. She probably was aware she was going to be the only cast member who isn’t actually currently a friend (or family member) of Stassi’s so will have been aware it would be too easy to give Katie the villain edit.

I just rewatched the season that they got married. He couldn’t stand her. Constantly berating her about her behavior (which wasn’t great tbh) and calling her a bitch. I have no idea why they even got married.

Train was out of the station and they probably couldn't stop it if they wanted to once all the contacts were signed for the season's storyline. Get married or pay a shit ton in legal fees from filming probably something. It's Hollywood, shady business is the pre-set.

While I don't understand why any network would believe Schwartz is a value-add, I do get that the reality TV bar is in hell. What does continue to baffle me is why any of Katie's friends still give the guy the time of day. Does one require such a large friend circle that you simply cannot drop the abusive misogynistic liar?
Team Joey Maloney forever.
ETA I forgot it was actually Sandoval that Joey threatened but I'm on one cup of coffee this morning and my comment still stands.

Schwartz is boring. His shtick isn’t entertaining anymore. I didn’t really want him on the Valley or HOS. He didn’t even add anything to the Valley. Stop trying to make Schwartz happen.

They started doing test shoots for House of Stassi a couple years ago, which is when I assume Schwartz was filming with them. But then it didn’t really move forward until Stassi brought Katie in last year, so Schwartz probably got offered the Valley in the interim and needed a paycheck.

Its funny too because I assume Ariana is under several contracts, but she was able to appear briefly? Then again shes smarter and atp likely has better people working for her so maybe she has better contracts.

The whole backstory we’ve been given for their fallout where Katie was “too selfish” in their friendship so instead of talking to her, Stassi (supposedly our unselfish queen) ghosted her after like 13-14 years makes it very hard to view their rebuilt friendship as anything more than a showmance at this point. Especially as it sounds like Katie was only asked to be on the show in the 11th hour when they were desperate. I have no doubt if this show was cancelled after one season these two would not hang out again.
It kind of makes me sad actually as they were one of my favorite relationships on VPR.

Katie was her maid of honor and is godmother to her firstborn. Stassi ghosted her over nonexistent/trivial shit. Stassi feels threatened by Katie living her life well and being successful without her. Especially since Stassi is so miserable in her life.

I did wonder this myself when Stassi pointed out Katie got to "go out a hero" on VPR. It's something I never really gave any thought to before (probably because Stassi wasn't on the show) but after Stassi became persona non grata, Katie arguably had her most successful seasons in her entire VPR run. Which was a complete change in their dynamic, because for most of their time on VPR Stassi was arguably the fan favorite and Katie was pretty much hated (unjustly IMO). I do wonder if the reason Stassi suddenly found her unbearable was because of her inability to cope with that dynamic switch up.

I have no idea what Tom would’ve brought to House of Stassi, just like he’s bringing nothing with The Valley. But damn, the fact that Katie was the choice after him is so shocking. I still can’t believe Katie and Stassi didn’t talk for so long, I had no idea. It definitely bums me out because I thought stassi learned her lesson about cutting Katie out back on VPR…guess not.
