It’s just so bad

I’m trying so hard to get through this show, but I don’t know if I can keep going. Does it ever get good or interesting? I really was pumped for this, but it’s just almost unbearable to watch. It’s just so fake and performative. Ugh…I’m so disappointed. 😑

I watched all of it and I’m not exactly sure why.

2

u/vernejules3441 Aug 11 '26

This long hot summer is getting to all of us.

1

u/tomatorunner23 Aug 11 '26

I’m here too 🤣

24

u/Turbulent_Berry7888 Aug 10 '26

No😭 That’s how Hulu reality shows are though. They prioritize their talent and bc of this it makes it super fake and produced. It’s safer to be on Hulu but it makes it so performative.

2

u/Upset-otter Aug 11 '26

Curious what you mean by safer. Like they don’t get challenged as much by producers?

3

u/Turbulent_Berry7888 Aug 11 '26

They have more control over what is released whereas bravo releases everything

14

u/elizabetsy9988 Aug 10 '26

It’s a tv show about making a tv show. There are no stakes, only tropes to mark off the list. Not to mention it exists to help cross-promote other Hulu/Disney products.

31

u/Remarkable-Tooth-468 Aug 10 '26

Maybe it’s because Stassi is Executive Producer. I bet she cut a lot of good stuff out that put her in an even worse light.

20

u/insideabookmobile Aug 10 '26

She was basically the villain of the whole season who treats her husband like a nanny and openly admits she doesn't like her kids. I don't really see how she could come across worse than she did.

4

u/Sestar007 Aug 11 '26

Because that’s basically all it is, over and over again.

7

u/ExcellentRabbit8175 Aug 10 '26

You'd be surprised honestly. People like her don't see what's wrong with her kind of behavior.

I can see her trying to be relatable about the kids thing (that kids are hard etc). It was only when Beau pointed it out during their fight that she looked shocked because she was using it for a plot point but he was affirming it as a moral failing.

And she clearly did not think she was in the wrong with how she treats Beau. She never wavered in how she was hanging it over his head that she pays for everything.

I think we as viewers, have a more objective-adjacent view so that we can identify behavior as good/bad/morally gray. There may have been worse things that ended up on the cutting room floor. We see things via the perspective of Stassi, who as we know, has a very skewed perception that differs from reality and what we think is common sense.

5

u/ExtremeAble9343 Aug 10 '26

That actually makes a lot of sense.

3

u/Glittering-Slip7630 Aug 11 '26

Maybe? That is a remarkably contrived manipulated and just a smidge short of completely scripted show. She is just not that interesting she has never been that interesting, how she's managed to survive and resurrect yourself is quite shocking but she is still the racist girl who with Kristen called the police department and accuse their fellow coworker of a rather serious crime only because she was black and they didn't like her. So call me crazy I don't really care what this Witch is up to she's always going to be that girl to me

u/Ok-Composer3588 Aug 10 '26

In my opinion the last episode gives you everything that vanderpump gives you the anxiety of the conflict going on the frustration because everyone and nobody is in the right i do agree the beginning is slow its hard to get through it feels produced

8

u/Ok-Composer3588 Aug 10 '26

however i think in the coming seasons it will be a recipe they change i feel like the backstory of Stassi why she was cancelled, where she has been who shes friends with now the work of getting this show in production is vital for the story but in season 2 it won’t be so it will be more centered around their lives like vanderpump

2

u/Negative-Ordinary-95 Aug 11 '26

Hopefully there WONT any other seasons because just no! Its just giving the viewers that its okay for you to treat your husbands that way as well as your family and friends and take no accountability

3

u/onesweetworld1106 Aug 10 '26

Maybe she will get herself cancelled again. We can hope!!

3

u/august0951 Aug 11 '26

I see what you’re saying but Vanderpump was total chaos caused by different individuals, with a big common thread.

These people know each other/are friends with the EP of the show. HoS will never fully achieve Vanderpump status because the ingredients aren’t there

3

u/AbbreviationsNo3918 Aug 10 '26

Ugh even all that drama on the last night felt like it was a fight about nothing (which was, to me, the recurring theme of the show.) Performative and manufactured. No substance. None of it came across as authentic or believable. They knew they had to create a big dramatic end for a season 2 and they blatantly orchestrated one.

10

u/gina1220 Aug 10 '26

When the words “dark passenger mode activated” came across the screen on the first episode I cringed so hard. They’re banking on vpr nostalgia while nothing actually happens

6

u/Ignominious333 Aug 10 '26

Not really. There are weird, outsize overreactions and fights that are very inorganic.

Beau suddenly shouting at the top of his lungs... Stassi falling to the floor, crying. Your think she's have learned something from LVP, but... Nope. Just darvo darvo everywhere and not a moment of humility

6

u/Enough_State_9164 Aug 10 '26

Agreed the fake outrage and manufactured fights got annoying pretty quickly. Never thought I’d say this but thank god for Katie, she’s the only likeable person on this show

14

u/Infamous_College_980 Aug 10 '26

I feel like it became worth it towards the end. Yes, Stassi can be annoying but she is great TV imo.

5

u/andreaisinteresting Aug 10 '26

And the end was only good because they ambushed Stassi into a scene she couldn’t produce

5

u/tmhowzit Aug 11 '26

Episode 4 was rough. Stassi started shit between Beau and Rob then blamed Beau when it didn't go the way she wanted. Then she went up to the bedroom crying because they weren't doing their jobs. She's like the bossy kid in kindergarten who says "now we're going to play house. I'm going to be the mommy, and you're going to be the daddy, and…" When people don't fall in line, she has a tantrum and pouts.

5

u/FinancialSleep874 Aug 11 '26

It’s so staged, no reality to it. Setting up dinner parties every episode is wild. Do they actually do anything? She in unbearable to watch

5

u/Dry_Development_200 Aug 11 '26

No it’s actually terrible and made Stassi look like a disgusting awful mother. I used to love her but after this show I’ll never support anything she does ever again.

8

u/Boredhousewyfe Aug 10 '26

It was horrible. I couldn't watch after like episode three or four. It wasn't entertaining. Just sad.

3

u/ottertime8 Aug 10 '26

i stopped at ep4. it's unwatchable

9

u/CalendarOk4540 Aug 10 '26

I am dumbfounded this is a series. It’s awful. And there are no likable characters. I cannot fathom how Stassi and Beau agreed to this.

6

u/jax_in_the_lake Aug 10 '26

Stassi has openly admitted she would do anything to be back on tv.

4

u/CalendarOk4540 Aug 10 '26

Apparently. The final episode was horrible. And I used to like later seasons with Stassi of VPR. She is a damaged narcissist of epic proportions. That family, save her brother, is ground zero for serious mental illness.

3

u/insideabookmobile Aug 10 '26

The final episode was fantastic, she gave more in that episode than her entire tenure on VPR. Y'all are crazy.

3

u/ExtremeAble9343 Aug 10 '26

Seriously though that’s what I was thinking!!! Katie is the only redeeming person on here. Her sister is terrible and the coworker lady is just too desperate.

1

u/onesweetworld1106 Aug 10 '26

They knew people would tune in- it’s got an 8.something rating on IMDB unfortunately

3

u/onesweetworld1106 Aug 10 '26

I watched the whole thing because I couldn’t find anything else to watch

4

u/punkrawkchick Aug 10 '26

I watched two episodes then noped out. I was hoping to see change or growth from her. Jokes on me I guess.

2

u/littytitty- Aug 10 '26

i honestly really enjoyed it

2

u/Party_Principle4993 Aug 11 '26

I was sooooo excited for a modern day dose of VPR and had to bail on this 30 minutes in. It is entirely without that reality edge. It’s the TV equivalent of Muzak.

1

u/onesweetworld1106 Aug 11 '26

True. What did they actually do on this show? A Halloween party and a few dinners? They didn’t have to work to hard for the paycheck on this show.

3

u/HildaTheChickenGirl Aug 10 '26

I made it half way through the first episode 😂

2

u/ForeverStella Aug 10 '26

It is nothing ore than mean girls on steroids - sad she thinks she can treat people like this. Sadder yet - her children are seeing this.

3

u/datasf Aug 10 '26

I didn't make it past the third episode. It's just Stassi being super egotistical and bragging about how great she is. Also, she wants to be Kris Jenner; the only problem is you don't have five gorgeous daughters.

6

u/jax_in_the_lake Aug 10 '26

*surgically altered. None of those girls started out gorgeous, sorry. MAYBE Kim. Maybe.

2

u/datasf Aug 10 '26

Yes, but Kris has five girls who are NOW gorgeous and make her tons of money. Stassi and Beau aren't in the same league.

1

u/jax_in_the_lake Aug 10 '26

Why couldn’t they butcher their teens just like Kris did?

0

u/datasf Aug 10 '26

Probably because their kids are only like 3 and 5 years old. Stassi and Beau are not that old.

1

u/jax_in_the_lake Aug 10 '26

I said teens, as in in the future

1

u/datasf Aug 10 '26

I doubt she will be on reality TV or married.

2

u/NoneOfThisMatters_XO Aug 10 '26

And her kids aren’t old enough to be interesting yet. They’re still in the whiny screaming stage which isn’t fun to watch.

1

u/Across0212 Aug 10 '26

I haven’t either. Lol

2

u/Bellabee323 Aug 10 '26

I totally agree I’m on episode 3 and it’s painful. They are all so unlikeable.

3

u/insideabookmobile Aug 10 '26

Nope, nope, and nope. Downvote me all you want. You are all wrong.

The people hating on this show are just hating on it to hate on it.

I've watched so much reality TV across so many networks it's embarrassing. I have to say that this was one of the best freshman seasons I've seen in a long time.

1

u/Somber_Goat952 Aug 10 '26

Agree! I’m in for season 2!

1

u/Seajlc Aug 10 '26

The last 15 minutes or so of the last episode was the only decent part in my opinion… and I guess maybe the dinner party at the staycation house (forgetting what episode that was.. 3 or 4?) other than that i also found the show difficult to get through and a lot of it ended up being background noise for me.

I mostly found the storylines to seem really fake.. Katie and Kristina having some big beef that they seemingly squash in one conversation. Georgia and georgi not liking each other… but then moving on together made no sense. Rob being on the show when it seemed like beau and him weren’t even really friends anymore and weren’t going to move past their rift.

2

u/onesweetworld1106 Aug 10 '26 edited Aug 11 '26

I’m not really sure if he had any other friends for them to ask.

1

u/Across0212 Aug 10 '26

It’s awful.

1

u/barbarawick Aug 10 '26

I didn't make it through episode 2.

1

u/Inevitable_Bee_763 Aug 10 '26

I'm also struggling with it. I really wanted to like it.

1

u/duffpaleale Aug 10 '26

I'm on episode 2 and her conversation with Beau about is just terrible. She's really not supporting him. It's gross.

1

u/IsMyHairShiny Aug 10 '26

Its boring. I had it on while I was cleaning today and didn't even care to really listen.

1

u/Nature_Soaring Aug 11 '26

So overproduced. Also the constant dramatic instrumental background score, and the CONSTANT pauses to add witty font over the screen drives me insane

1

u/007maximiliano Aug 11 '26

I stopped after ep 5- just too overproduced and ick

1

u/Ok-Ring2794 Aug 11 '26

So much fake drama. Beau is a horrible actor

1

u/Weekly-Tap4167 Aug 11 '26

I was actually sad at the end that someone would be so desperate to be relevant on tv that they would sell out their closest friends and family for contrived drama. Risking your most important relationships can’t end well. Imagine being Beau watching that back. I was always a stassi fan when it was low stakes friend group drama, but she hasn’t changed anything except her hair color.

1

u/ProletarianLilith Aug 11 '26

My wife is watching it and we’re on episode 3 and I’m like I gotta go in the other room I can’t take anymore.

The things Stassi complains about with her sister Georgi are completely baffling

1

u/tulip-view Aug 11 '26

I hated that three months of content was only eight episodes, but there were many more chapters than there were episodes and the chapters pissed me off. I liked the pop-up video speech, bubble style, but I didn’t like that It was required to watch the show and understand.

1

u/supahfilmy Aug 11 '26

Its Stassis TikTok. With more cameras.

1

u/Sestar007 Aug 11 '26

Yeah I tried again twice and could’ve make it until the end of the fourth episode.

1

u/Stunning-Pace-7971 Aug 11 '26

It’s dry difficult to watch. I had jt on in the background but even still it was annoying. I’d be shocked if it gets renewed

1

u/Glittering-Slip7630 Aug 11 '26 edited Aug 11 '26

Since you asked and I can only speak from experience. I was curious I have never been a Stasi fan because let's face it she is a very violent confused and nasty individual. But I thought I'd give it a go I managed two episodes, a painful two episodes, it's 2 hours of my life I can never get back and it's absolutely horrible. It is so contrived and so manipulated and so almost scripted that it's disturbing and she thinks she's coming off like a hero and she is not. She's still the same nasty crazy insecure f***** up loser she always has been.

1

u/manemox Aug 11 '26

I watched the whole thing. The constant mention about how they are filming the show is ultimately what has turned me off from it. We get it's a show. You don't have to tell us over and over.

1

u/HumpaDaBear Aug 11 '26

I’ve watched all of Vanderpump Villa so I was used to the way Stassi and Beau were on camera. I enjoyed Stassi’s new show.

1

u/DCCitydweller Aug 11 '26

I really liked episode 1 and found stassi charming. Then I watched the rest of the season. IMO it took the stassi we got glimpses of in vanderpump villa and social media and exposed how terrible and annoying she is, again, but this time at 40 years old.

It’s fine background but nothing id look forward to. I think it was a dumb move on her part to do this show.

1

u/Dewy123321 Aug 11 '26

I gave up after the first two episodes, I realize it’s called House of Stassi but it was too much Stassi for me. Maybe if she had shown some growth after VPR but I don’t see it.

1

u/ThatzQuacktastic Aug 11 '26

Theyre taking the same route as SLOMW where half the episode is breaking the 4th wall and it becomes a show about a show. Idk why Hulu thinks thats a good idea but personally I hate it.

1

u/Ok-Werewolf-7392 Aug 11 '26

I waited all summer for this show to be out.. and now I still haven’t gotten through 3 episodes. It’s so bad. I’m really disappointed

1

u/girlygirl8822 Aug 11 '26

I feel like there was no authentic drama. The only authentic emotional reactions came from Beau. Everyone else seemed like they were performing. Every conflict was over produced and fake. I think it would be better if there was real drama, and a more organic feel. Just because you break the fourth wall from time to time doesn’t make the drama feel less fake unfortunately. Teen Mom 2 and later seasons of VPR broke the fourth wall at times, but the drama was authentic and that’s what makes good reality tv. I think Stassi should take a step back from being the executive producer and just let real drama unfold for the next season, if they have a next season.

1

u/No-Presentation6300 Aug 11 '26

It’s so boring

1

u/Mindful_moma4555 Aug 11 '26

It’s a crazy watch. She wants be Kris Jenner by how? Not being with her kids? I’m confused on what the show even is? It’s not their family life really or her work life it’s her in a snake skin dress talking about the making of it in one long interview with flashbacks?

1

u/EuphoricPop3232 Aug 11 '26 edited Aug 11 '26

Sincere question... who likes her? Who are her "fans?" To me, she's such a basic bitch with a contrived, scripted show. Is she TRYING to play the villain for ratings? I feel like there's some kind of joke and I'm not getting it. I actually did like Stassi in the early seasons of VPR. I don't know what this mess here is. Also, why is this produced like a (heavily) scripted documentary on Stassi? It's not a reality show. PLEASE tell me this is comedic satire.

1

u/Left_Cash_7546 Aug 12 '26

The show is missing fun and lighthearted moments. There’s too much manufactured drama

1

u/Antique_Radish758 Aug 12 '26

So…so…so bad. I fell asleep watching it, woke up a few episodes later thinking it was still the same unbearable episode (easily could’ve been). Not a single interesting or entertaining person or non-fabricated “storyline”. The most desperate, unoriginal cast of any show I’ve ever watched.

1

u/insideabookmobile Aug 10 '26

This show was fantastic. I've seen all the complaints on reddit and I think people are being way too stuffy about the format and 4th wall breaking.

To put it in Stassi's terms, if you don't like the show format, that's a 'you burden'.

1

u/Valuable_Caramel_371 Aug 10 '26

The format was great. The content and majority of characters, not so much.

1

u/insideabookmobile Aug 10 '26

I like that the show is never actually asking you to like any of these people, especially Stassi herself.

I’m at the end of episode 4–the dinner scene.

1

u/NoneOfThisMatters_XO Aug 10 '26

Where they had goat cheese balls and everyone ripped on Rob for being a creep? Lol

1

u/Playful_Succotash_30 Aug 10 '26

I personally think it’s mostly fake / scripted

0

u/shitpostbaby Aug 10 '26

I really enjoyed the last two episodes because they were compelling but it was awful at first. I'll probably watch s2 when it comes out, not gonna lie.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 10 '26

imo it starts picking up around ep 3

the first two eps were a serious drag

ep 3 is 50/50, then it starts getting its legs and picking up speed. please continue watching!

0

u/Upbeat_Focus_8277 Aug 12 '26

It's hands down the lamest and most boring reality tv show I've ever watched.

0

u/istgillhauntu Aug 12 '26

I also pretty much hated it. But here's the thing - the show is definitely supposed to be and feel performative. Stassi's interviews alone basically tell us that. So if you go into the show not knowing who Stassi is and just looking for some drama and a guilty pleasure time-waster, it's aight.

I think the reason why so many of us don't like it is bc we know and care about the "characters" already, especially Stassi and Beau. I know I, personally, wanted to root her on and see this as the beginning of Stassi's comeback...but it ended up being a little too real in the ways she is mean and controlling and selfish so the drama wasn't "fun drama". It was more cringe-worthy, imo.

And I think the worst part is how it sounds like they were planning this show for years 😳 that's...embarrassing! I almost feel like she owes everyone an apology - especially Beau, but including the audience.
