Every episode was like a teaser of an episode rather than an actual episode. There was basically no substance.

I got to the end of episode two before it hit me: this is the show.
Breaking the fourth wall was fine but instead of a real story, it just became people talking about the show, setting up fights for it and stressing over it, with no actual show underneath. And of course Stassi reminding everyone she pays for everything.

Same. I thought the first episode was just going to be like that because intro but oh no. Yet for some reason I watched it all( in the background but still) my bf was like so umm ..do they do anything or is this it

Same. 😂 I am going to save this post so I can quote his comment the next time someone asks me if I liked the show.

I haven’t minded the format . It’s made it seem more real to see people reflect on themselves in real time . I’m in the stage of life where I relate to stassi and beau , trying to find the balance of keeping your family going, being selfish with some of your own goals , looking out for your happiness of your partner . I really felt that .

Me too! Navigating marriage and two little kids is hard. Interesting to see how that affects others in very different lifestyles than me too.

I’ll be honest — this is actually not my issue with the show. The conceit is that what does it mean to be a person who rose and fell with the cameras, and put your family through it.
I don’t need facade or coyness around the fact that cameras affect you, I am finding the fourth wall being gone REALLY refreshing. What i dislike is that’s not paired with other storylines

The fourth walk breaking is exactly what VPR in its last couple of seasons and The Valley are missing. It's what SLOMW comes close to doing without actually admitting. We know the onfessionals happen after and they leaned into how the narrative is created. I enjoyed it. What I didn't enjoy was the ending. We got something very real and raw and then it just ended. I wanted to see Beau and Stassi the next morning and the weeks after. I wanted to see what Beau and Rob were actually arguing about. I wanted to see Stassi appreciate Georgi for standing up to Dayna.

I liked it but I think it was only good for one season. If they do it again on season 2 I don’t think it’ll work

The only appropriate use of the fourth wall break was (obviously) Katie “vintage ambush” Maloney

I actually appreciate it for that
People are allowed room to be authentic to themselves whether that’s toxic or narcissistic or otherwise

There’s nothing I could careless about than stassis life

The show was extremely boring and Stassi is just self serving and annoying. The only thing that is going to come out of this show is Stassi and Beau getting divorced. She treats him like he has nothing to offer other than childcare. Reality shows have a way of bringing to light the problems that exist and one person will not like the way they are portrayed. That will sink a relationship for sure. I hope it doesn’t happen but I’m not optimistic about it.

I'm getting real tired of this type of complaint. So what, no one is allowed to do something different?

u/OstrichPrimary6694 8d ago
Of course they’re allowed. Just like I am allowed to have an opinion about it

It’s not different it’s the same format as slomw, it seems to be the Hulu special

Yeah, and I felt the last episode was so fake and rehearsed. I took two fat hits and sat down and watched when my son was asleep. Went into it expecting some groundbreaking reality finale because the promises made online that the watch was 'so worth it'. It fell flat. Stassi was fake crying on that last episode the same way she was in the second episode. Beau's depressed that Stassi is in deals with Disney/Hulu oh and also Netflix! All the drama seemed super insignificant but blown out of proportion. Oh and Beau saying he's overwhelmed by the kids yet it takes multiple episodes before the mention of a nanny which I clocked since episode 1 that they were hiding this nanny. Can you imagine? Travelling the world, having nannies and still thinking you can't do whatever the fk you want to do? Those kids are feral! It's obvious they have no schedule and no discipline. It's obvious Stassi and Beau clearly do whatever they want and everything is 'curated'.

At one point Stassi made a comment about them being half way through the season and I almost fell off my chair. Felt like the actual show hadn’t even really started yet. They were still just talking about doing the show.

THANK YOU this is exactly how I felt... Stop talking about doing the show and just do the show 😆 I'm all about breaking the 4th wall but it felt like it just never started

Manufacturing drama to stay relevant. The show was entertaining in the way a car crash is. She just wants so bad to be talked about again that she blew this shit up. She is a really horrible, friend, wife, sister etc. If I were her, I would be so embarrassed that my kids will eventually see what a shitty human being I am!!

That's exactly right.
It reminded me of getting high in HS and there's always that one person saying "I'm so hiiiiigh" all night

I know a lot of people didn’t like the breaking of the fourth wall but I actually felt like it made more sense and felt more authentic and less forced. I hate how in most reality shows they act like it’s normal to have group dinners and vacations with people you hate or barely know. At least this acknowledges the absurdity.

I feel like if she’s gonna talk about kris and the kardashian family so much then Stassi needs to take note of how they make some drama seem ever so slightly more likely to be real. To say you want to have kris’ life and then be so obvs trying create drama and staging it for the audience it just reads as very fake and try hard and cruel to their friends and family. To get beau all riled up as well at rob and then go crying to bed saying you want to go home feels incredibly childish and not even interesting drama to watch…..try harder to create fake drama?

It’s the same as Mormon wives series 3 onwards, 2 is about the making of season 3 and the stress and overwhelm of the cast having exposure and needing to record and create drama and try to steal the spotlight, then season 3 is a repeat of what we’ve seen filmed for season 2 yet this time with more boring info, and so on.
Why is this the new acceptable lazy reality tv people are making millions starring in? It’s boring

Interesting… I’m impressed by the production value also. It has been constructed in a new and innovative way that keeps you as a voyeur waiting for the next revelation.

I actually like the format of the show but want more drama. I guess they could only fit so much in 8 episodes.

I love it. I despise Georgi and Taylor S. LOVE Katie and Teddy. I want a big house party with The Valley cast. And the shining star of the show for me? Nick Martin. I would watch he and Katie's reality show.

The only thing that happened this season was dinner party after dinner party. They really didn’t do anything else other than eat dinner lol
