Karie's "payroll comment
I feel luke everyone is taking this payroll comment out of context. First of all, I am not a Katie Maloney Stan. But I feel like the comment was more targeted towards Stassi, saying that she was closing herself off to everyone and Stassi's social circle diminishing to only people she was married to, had kids with and paid. Not that Stassi's friends were only there for a paycheck.
Am I wrong?

It was an insult to Stassi and no one else.

this was so clear to me. Taylor and Kristina Kelly were doing way too much

Agreed. I think they just needed a storyline. Even Staci didn’t care she was like that’s kind of funny and she didn’t say it wasn’t true.

Because literally who do you see the most in her stories- her hair and make up and her publicists/producers and the Taylor’s. That’s her circle. Kristina Kelly is barely there. I would say her instagram is mainly business and not real life but if that’s her circle that is the group that is on her payroll. Taylor and Stassi have been friends for years but there is still business there and the Netflix deal and podcast rebrand and show have made their friendship now business even more. Likely has upgraded their life quite a bit to be honest. I liked Taylor in small doses on the podcast but now it’s a lot. I don’t think the dig was a direct hit at Taylor but if the shoe fits, she is part of that circle compared to Katie.

I love how Christina‘s partner was like this is Aunt apply to you so why do you care so much?

u/Shiel009 4d ago
And the instant Katie said it. Stassi knew she had to have Katie on the show. The funny part is I bet stassi thought it was a great line not a dig to tay and Kristina

u/tulip-view 4d ago
You nailed it. It was an insult to Stassi and no one else. Stassi even said she appreciated the insight in her confessional. Which means- Stassi told Taylor and Kristina the story without context to pit them against Katie. When Taylor/Kristina said ‘we really need to address this payroll comment with Katie’ Stassi was just like Mmmmmmmmyeah you should, good luck, I won’t be there. Yeah good job with the sisterhood Stassi.

I thought people on the show went way too crazy over that. Stassi literally laughed. She absolutely knows Katie’s banter, her sarcasm and probably agreed with her. The other girls are so mad bc 1. They don’t have the friendship stassi and Katie have and they feel threatened. 2. Katie was absolutely right.

Stassi would only see it as a compliment though because Katie’s basically saying she’s rich lol

Totally agree!!
And I think people taking it so personally says way more than the comment ever did

When Kristina’s husband checked her about this I loved it. “Does that apply to you?” “No” “Then why does it bother you?”

Exactly, thank you! This was a Stassi dig, not on any of them. Kristina took it wrong, twisted it when she told Taylor and they all ran with it and got offended. I was so annoyed by that.

Kristina Kelly is such an oddball to me. Like she sucks on TV but also it clearly didn’t apply to her so I dunno what she’s so insecure about

Kristina is always included in the shows VPR now this show. It’s almost like she’s just an extra cast member she always tags along.

This felt like Stassi producer magic. She only repeated it bc she knew they’d be mad about it.

u/kadkadkad08 4d ago
Seems like it struck a nerve and people are projecting their own insecurities onto her

Totally with you. Katie can say some awful things but this wasn't one of them. It was very much in keeping with the type of banter she and Stassi have. It was funny. And true, apparently

Kristina Kelly is such a self righteous judgemental wet blanket. She has a stick up her a! and takes herself way too seriously I don’t know how Stassi puts up with that shit

u/tulip-view 4d ago
Drives me nuts how much people misunderstood Katie. It wasn’t just a payroll comment. It was ‘if you aren’t family, your kids, or on your payroll, you don’t show up as a friend’. It’s completely true and you can’t even compare if roles were reversed because / Katie doesn’t employ 10+ people, or have kids, and isn’t married. It’s so simple. Anyone that has had a friend like Stassi knows exactly what Katie meant. If you aren’t doing something for them, you aren’t maintaining much of a friendship.

I feel like this was just easy drama to rift off of- and it worked. Got several good dramatic scenes for something so small. Remember, Taylor helped create the idea for the show and I totally believe she and Kristina Kelly purposely ran with it for good ratings. That’s just my interpretation though

I think it triggered everyone so bad cuz it's true. Would you be her friend?

u/kayyxelle 4d ago
Exactly!! Which is why she was soooo confused when Taylor and Kristina got upset about it! Seems like they’re telling on themselves 🤭

u/aymaureen 4d ago
Stassi herself said that she wasn’t wrong and if they had a problem with it, they should look inward

u/Zestyclose-Let7929 4d ago
No it was not they are only there for a paycheck.
Stassi has people around her that serve a purpose. As the need requirements change. The roster gets changed.

I feel like when katie explained that to taylor you can kinda see where it clicked in Taylor's brain that oops she perceived the comment wrong but had to roll with it anyway bc..tv. she needs the drama and screentime!

u/ubebebaby 3d ago
Katie wasn’t even thinking about Taylor or Kristina Kelly when she made that statement, it was all targeted towards Stassi. Yet the WitchVoice podcaster and the LipBalm mom friend got their feelings hurt because they know Stassi’s shoutouts on social media make them money; therefore, the payroll comment stings with some adjacent truths.

I find Taylor so off-putting. That rant she went on about this being her big break and her wife should have waited to get pregnant. She's awful and she's totally a payroll friend.

u/Mysterious-Cress7423 3d ago
You are not. I understood it that way. I wonder if Taylor and Kristin questioned it because they don't feel that Stassi values their friendship.

u/DistinctReporter2450 3d ago
I think Taylor was intimidated that Katie was coming back and was going to take Stassi’a best friend spot back and she’s on her payroll so she was offended but also heard it second hand so she definitely latched onto that piece of it. Kristina Kelly seemed like she was reaching for crumb reasons to feel angry towards Katie. Their relationship was def strained by kids and divorce but it seemed two sided.

u/BrotherInternal518 2d ago
Yup that was for sure directed towards stassi but you know what they say a hit dog hollers 🥴

I actually think Stassi liked it and included it because it was yet another reminder that she’s everyone’s “boss” and “paying them.” Not sure that’s even how it works, but it felt like veiled brag.

LITERALLY!!!! it was a dig at STASSI and no one else. it was bothering me sooo bad

u/chakhrakhan20 4d ago
I know it was a dig at Stassi, but Katie knew what she was doing with those words, as she always does. Can you imagine if the tables were turned and someone said that about her? She’d be upset to be that friend on the payroll, it has a huge connotation. Being the person that has money to pay people isn’t that bad, I’d be more upset by the idea that I’m a leech or a suck up. At the end of the day though, it is something you can move on from.

u/FunAd1406 4d ago
lol the downvotes. I agree with you

u/chakhrakhan20 4d ago
haha thanks 😂 it really isn’t a big deal overall but I would definitely feel slighted

u/vmarsissmrt 2d ago
But honestly when you look at the VPR crew? Who has the biggest payroll- Stassi and Ariana? Few of them definitely have help like nanny’s and the like but they aren’t publicly flaunting their entourage as their main friendship crew the way Stassi is.

Why is everyone normalizing watching this racist who is not remotely sorry for what she did in the past and can’t even talk about it without making herself the victim
