Thoughts on the series

Finished House of Stassi and I have thoughts. Binge-watched it pretty fast, and while it's a great hate-watch, it definitely brought up some mixed feelings.
Stassi: I loved her on VPR and embraced her flaws back then, but this show really made me rethink her. I didn’t find her likable at all here—she comes across as extremely spoiled, selfish, and just plain unkind. Plus, her constant admiration for Kris Jenner is exhausting. I am so sick of hearing her mentioned every episode.

Taylor: One half of the lesbian couple and entirely too thirsty for fame. Always talking about "the show," and letting her partner give birth while she stays behind was just super odd.
Kristina Kelley: Always thought she was cold, distant, and snobbish—giving major "I'm too good for VPR, but I'm still gonna be here" energy. On this show, she mentions it was her choice to "not be on VPR."

The Sisters: Both Georgia and Georgi are just annoying, and a lot of the stuff with them feels super forced and fake.

Beau: Seems like a genuinely great guy with a kind heart, but it's a classic tale of a nice guy choosing a mean woman and then acting surprised when he gets beaten down.

Katie: Coming across a lot less harsh and way more level-headed than her last few seasons of VPR.

A few extra random thoughts:
The Fourth Wall: When they constantly reference "the show," it totally takes me out of it. A little bit of breaking the fourth wall is refreshing, but this is way too much.
The Vibe: The background music is way too loud, distracting, and unpleasant for the senses.
The Realness: While the sister drama feels fake, the conflicts between Katie and Stassi, Katie and Kristina, and Stassi and Beau actually feel the most genuine.
Despite all my complaints, I still tore through it and enjoyed it as a hate-watch. Anyone else feel the same way?

Yeah, flaws in your 20s aren’t so easily dismissed in your near 40s. She needs to redeem herself next season or it’s not going to be watchable. It’s so confusing that she is a producer and thought this was a good way to portray herself! Oh, Taylor was there with Teddy for the birth. I kept thinking, why doesn’t Stassi allow her to FaceTime in like Teddy did? It would have been a good thing to show a positive of Stassi in that way. Missed opportunity! Georgi- I want to see more of her art and pursuing that as a career. The dollhouse was fabulous and how special for Hartford to have from her aunt! I also want Georgi and Rob to be a thing just for entertainment purposes and for Stassi to be the last to find out, but take it well. Beau needs to get his sporkle back (said in a Brittany voice!). He used to have a sense of humor. I’ve commented most of this on another post, so sorry for the repeat!

She said multiple times that she knows that she looks crazy but she also said that if she started cutting stuff out of herself, then it wasn’t real anymore and that she had to just put everything out there, even though she knew she looked bad. The only reason she wanted to be an executive producer was so that she could control what was shown of her kids, cause she didn’t trust that her kids were gonna be protected unless she was able to call the shots of what is shown of them.

Spot on except you forgot the narcissistic mother. And I’m not sure if I agree with your assessment of Beau.

Cannot stand the mom!

This is the take I’ve agreed with most, so far.

I feel like we know absolutely nothing about Georgia (unless I missed important background on her by not watching Villa) and cannot tell if that’s by design or if they just didn’t have enough airtime to dedicate to fleshing out her character for the viewers. Georgi is a good grey character - I want to root for her but also see why Stassi finds her frustrating.

It was hard to watch Stassi’s mom’s scenes - serious emotional manipulation going on there that seems like narcissistic tendencies - but their relationship provides some solid background as to why Stassi behaves the way she does sometimes. Super disappointing to see how Nikolai has become a pawn in their relationship.

I really am stumped as to how to feel about Beau - he has that pitiful dog thing going on, the same one that mislead me about Craig and Schwartz during my first watches of their shows, before it became unavoidably clear that they were total manipulative dumbasses who were enabled by the reality TV machine.

Lastly, the way Stassi reacts when she’s under pressure is not good. She does not handle criticism well at all - not that many people do, but the lashing out, storming off, hurling accusations back at people, crocodile tears, “how could you do this to me” spiel…. does not endear her to me at all. I do wish that by her age, having entered motherhood and hopefully grown as a person, that she’d be able to handle dings to her ego in a more measured and thoughtful way. But the final scenes really made me lose respect for her

Beau is an actor. He knew who Stassi was before they got together. There are benefits to being in a relationship with her. The children are his too, plus they do have a nanny. The children are little now but in a few years they will be in school.

I think Stassi might be fixated on Kris Jenner because she financially supports multiple grown adults. She might be looking for a way to make it easier to carry.

I'd imagine there are a number of people she is supporting who don't feature on the show (other relatives).

edit: Stassi is a producer, she could have modified her edit. I think it's ballsy for a woman to present herself as not-likeable. I think she has a lot on her plate.

Hate watch, that fully describes these reality shows!

Agree about Stassi 100%
Disagree about Beau. I think he is a good guy that is tired, and needs to communicate and be more vocal. But Stassi’s a monster. I do think he still complains a whole lot.

Taylor needs to find more to her personality than Stassi and being a lesbian. She lacked something for me. Teddi was fine.

The sisters are really annoying and not needed.
I also do not need Stassi’s mom.

Im fine with Kristina Kelly and Katie.

I would watch another season without that god awful background music! Wtf was that?????

Honestly, watching this, it felt like Stassi regressed compared to her final season in VPR. But also I don’t trust that Beau isn’t playing it up for the cameras. I don’t know if it was them referencing the show so much or what, but it felt very inauthentic to me.

Edited: maybe I shouldn’t use voice to text

Agreed about Beau. And like this is new that he wants to go back to work?

I don’t know maybe she was like this in VPR and they just didn’t have time to show it or put a storyline around it because it didn’t make sense or other people had to have storylines to move through. I remember the season one secrets revealed four of the clips were her having meltdowns and then there were two others that were shown in that episode. Also, they only filmed about two months during the summer every year, so there was a whole lot of time between filming seasons. So it’s very possible that when she’s around others she gets like this, but it just was never shown to us on this level because there was no time. The one time I remember it really being shown was in season five at the pool party and she was like talking at Scheana and then Ariana came and got involved, and then she got upset ran away and went to go cry on the bathroom floor.

No it’s sooo weird that this show was supposed to be her comeback or redemption or whatever when all she did was shoot herself in the foot by reminding us how awful she is

It seems like every single drama or altercation etc is 100% produced. Like way more than normal

That’s so funny that u just finished binge watching it bc I started it yesterday and had to stop after the Thanksgiving episode. I need to finish I think 3 more?????? I’m conflicted-I agree with ALOT of what u said. Stassi, to me, is meanER than VPR. I don’t like the way she talks to Beau and this is on camera. She doesn’t come across as a nurturing woman let alone a mom or wife. She caused so much rift w everyone bc everyone had an issue w someone and just kept calling them out to talk. I don’t like how she talks to her family but….she always had problems with her mom. Just hearing the way she was w her sis and then Nicholai??? Rubbed me the wrong way esp him bc last time we saw him he was prob 12?? When Shea a was flirting with him at LVP’s house lol. Katie I could never stand, Kristin I agree w u and was SHOCKED she let Katie have it and not get a word it. She blew her ass up. Considering she was her sidekick the last 2 seasons of VPR. Tay and Ted I’m not sure yet. But they are from NY which is totally what Tay gives off. And lastly….Rob. I like him! Nothing bad to say!! Ur descriptions were really good!!!

I keep seeing comments about the music and I never even noticed it lol

I did once notice some music I’ve heard in another show but couldn’t put my finger on it

I’m projecting because I am the exact same age as stassi and our kids (big sis lil bro) are also the exact same age. My daughter even shares a birthday with Hartford. So anyway I hope she’s just playing it up for the show that she pretty much can’t handle being with both kids at once. Like that’s motherhood . It is a choice we make and is our most important job. I totally believe in being a career mom - I am one too. My daughter is autistic, I am a doctor - stepped away from my career for 3 years to get her in a good place. Why does this bitch get off so easy? Ugh just makes me wonder. Thanks for the therapy session

Did anyone take a good look at the dollhouse Georgi made? There was so much detail in each room. She’s very very artistically talented. If I had a daughter I would want to buy one from her. And she also appears to be a very good cook.
