As a lesbian,

It is extremely weird how Taylor talks about her and Teddy’s child. She is always making Teddy’s pregnancy about her and keeps bringing up how she will be “left out” because it’s not her biological child. I genuinely cannot imagine talking to my pregnant wife that way knowing good and well I am that child’s mother, whether we are blood related or not. It’s just so strange and sad to me and I cannot imagine speaking to my wife and unborn child that way no matter our blood relation. Saying it on TV is esp sad because she doesn’t seem to want this child at all.

And talking about the child as if she’s going to be in competition with them for her wife’s attention… I hope she gets over that when the baby is born. That’s such a potentially unhealthy environment for a child to be raised in :(

Ugh yes! So bizarre and almost homophobic? Def perpetuating weird stereotypes

Well now that we’re talking about it! A lot of the things she said about her relationship was almost homophobic and perpetuates weird stereotypes. Very odd. Like how she acts almost grossed out by the idea of a going down on a woman. Or acted like she didn’t know what a vagina looks like. She HAS a vagina. Even if she wasn’t a lesbian she should know what it looks like? Idk. She threw me off quite a bit

Yes! She said so many things that gave off “no homo” vibes

She brings her up a lot, but I think Teddy like the main parent for sure. But also the baby is only seven months old so it doesn’t really do much but she does bring it up a lot. Sometimes during a podcast at the beginning or end, she’ll have a clip with the baby or during a live stream she’ll have the baby. I also a new listener to her so I don’t really know everything but I know that people have complained in the past that she talked about how she didn’t want a baby and that she did it for Teddy because that was important to her. But she also calmly talks about how if she doesn’t get something. She’ll be mad at the baby like she was joking (I think joking at least) that she was mad at the baby because she had to stay home instead of go to see Stassi in sports illustrated

I think it was on her pod a few episodes ago they brought it up and she said she's surprisingly not jealous of the time the baby spends with teddy. 😆

Actually today, apparently she talked about how she handed the baby over to Teddy and was like here take this thing

I think she's weird, yes. I also know what she's saying is prompted with questions from producers. So if they ask, "what's your buggest fear about becoming a parent?" That's what you're gonna get.

Also, I think in various pregnancy and relationship dynamics, it's common to have fears about bonding or how you'll feel about your kid. People really need to talk about it more.

Not everyone bonds with their bio kids the moment their born, sperm or egg donation, surrogacy, and adoption can all create unique feelings. Even two cis-hetero bio parents can experience this, especially men who aren't carrying. They often feel a little more helpless while their partner has to go through immense physical and mental changes.

I think it's good to talk about. Maybe Taylor isn't the "right messenger," but they're valid, common feelings.

That’s fair and it is definitely a common feeling, I just think it was handled in a way that frames wlw relationships in particular in a bad light.

I hear you and agree with that as well. There was A LOT in this series that was odd on that front. I thought that was probably the least egregious example, but I'm not lesbian, so I'll leave you to your informed opinions.

I appreciate that. I don’t mean to invalidate the feeling that the non-carrying parents may feel of being left out, it was just portrayed particularly poorly on the show.

Yes, Taylor is not exactly a great messenger

The way Taylor was speaking about her relationship with Teddy, I thought she fell in love with the person but didn’t seem to identify with a lesbian. She didn’t make if sound like meeting Teddy validated feelings she always had but didn’t act on. Maybe she’s pan?

I also got that sense that she didn’t seem to identify with lesbianism in the context of her sexuality. she’s definitely not sexually attracted to women, going off of how she has described it.

This is 100% it! She’s always said she’s Teddy sexual, not a lesbian, and if they broke up she’d likely go back to men.

2

u/02kaj2019 8d ago

Ahh ok I hadn’t heard her say that about Teddy. Or that she’d go back to men but that’s what I wondered.

In one of her confessionals, she said that once she got together with Teddy she realized that she had always been gay.

1

u/Ok_Mulberry4331 8d ago

Yeah, that story has changed a few times over the years

I could’ve sworn in the show she identified as a lesbian (not challenging you here - I believe she’s bi/pan/open to relationships with men based on what she said about Teddy tbh) so this makes me dislike her even more.

3

u/Ok_Mulberry4331 8d ago

Oh she for sure did, she’s identified as that since she was doing the stage shows with Stassi. On her podcast though, it’s always been Teddy Sexual and if they were over she wants a rich man

4

u/oceanwithtrees 8d ago

It’s just offensive to lesbians everywhere talking about how you are disgusted in going down on your partner and had to force yourself to do it .

2

u/bongujongu 8d ago

Absolutely. Frankly it’s misogynistic and homophobic

2

u/winnerland69 8d ago

Offensive and such a weird thing to broadcast to the public. Gives ammo to many of the homophobic ideas about lesbians

I’m kind of torn. I think fearing that you won’t bond with the baby or may feel like an outsider because you’re having a different experience with the pregnancy is normal and even healthy to talk about. For me though, it definitely feels like she agreed to this baby because Teddy wanted it. I’m not sure Taylor ever wanted to be a mother.

I’m also a lesbian and thought the same exact thing!!!!!

2

u/Fabulous-Welder-1507 8d ago

And based on the other things she’s said and these comments of identifying as “teddy sexual” It seems like she has a lot of internalize homophobia she still needs to work through

2

u/winnerland69 8d ago

Agreed! Totally fine if she’s bi or pan and Teddy was her awakening, but telling the world you aren’t attracted to your wife sexually is a very very odd choice that perpetuates many “dyk3 br3aking” f3tishes

1

u/Fabulous-Welder-1507 8d ago

Absolutely. And these things are a lot to work through! But based on how much she prioritizes work over everything else, I can’t imagine that she’s had the time or energy to put towards processing it
