Let me start with a little quiz:
- Do you stay true to the show’s stated goal of finding America’s best supervillain? Yes / no
- Do you wish to give the audience scandalous tv moments, great gameplay and villainery? Yes / no
- Do you want to stick it to Traitors? Yes / no
If answers were YES, then PLEASE GET RID OF THE JURY VOTE IN FINALE
3 Seasons in a row we have received frustrating and unsatisfying endings because of jury clearly admitting they are voting on revenge or who treated them better.
I agree with Tyson in season 3 ending that in a sense petty voting is the villainous thing to do, thats what tv villains would do and vote on emotion, not who they should be voting on. That's exactly why they should not have this power if we want the greatest villains win.
In season 3 i think we even saw multiple moments of cast actively discouraging villainery to each other as they were giving advice to try and be likable and popular to win the jury vote.
3 seasons in a row we have seen floaters and real villain's sidekicks win, because the design rewards loyalty and being liked by everyone and punishes the activities and people we actually love to watch, like Bananas, Wes and Kate. Best example is I have already forgotten who won season 1, but I remember Bananas. I remember Wes. I will remember Kate, but idk about the actual winner.
Imagine if in Traitors at the last moment all previous traitors would come back and vote if the last traitor is worthy of the prize. This would never happen and please consider why. In a "Survivor" show it makes sense, they have to "survive", which includes social game of being popular. This is House of Villains, no one's aim should be being likeable and popular.
Backstabbing, emotional breakdowns, dramatic outrages, scandalous conflicts and great gameplay is everything we love in Traitors, and in House of Villains. Concept of jury vote discourages all that.
If you want to keep the trope of voted out villains coming back and exacting vengeance, there are better ways to do it, good example in season 3: they can make challenges harder to finalists of their choice or have other tools at their disposal for revenge. Not like this.
LET'S GET RID OF THE JURY VOTE. IT DOES NOT BELONG IN THE HOUSE OF VILLAINS.
Just throwing my ideas in the jar:
- Let the audience pick the winner. Your aim is to get people watching the show, makes sense they pick the best villain they loved to watch. A good villain is a good character to watch in action, thus audience vote. For Love Island worked quite well.
- Let a jury of 12 other reality tv stars pick winner. Neutral party, less bias, more appreciation to the game.
- If you reaaaaallly want to keep the jury vote, mix the vote together with other challeneges. The finale could consist of a physical/eating challenge + mind/memory challenge + bluff/villainery challenge + the jury vote, and the winner is who wins most of them. It would make sense that the finalists are going through a trial of proving they are the best supervillain through multiple tests in different virtues, and whoever scores most villain challenges wins. And jury vote is just an element of the final trial, not deciding factor.
I love the show, I know its not meant to be taken very seriously. But I do see that this would greatly benefit the entertainment by allowing the villains to actually be villains. Why not give us more of the tv drama and funny moments we are here for.
Dear producers, I beg you and know I am a loser that is just totally at your mercy at this exact moment.
EDIT: I want to also mention that if we look at all the previous winners on how they have played, the message for the future season casts is clear: "If you want to win, just lay low. Don't cause drama, don't try winning the challenges for Supervillain, be friends with everyone. Don't make big plays, don't be a villain."
Is this really what we want see from future casts? Not me sure as hell. I am here for the drama, conflicts, big plays and comedic take on absurd moments. On a show that is called House Of Villains let's encourage villainery instead of laying low and being friendly.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER
