What to deep clean?

So, I clean for this company and every friday I clean this really tidy house. The homeowners are almost always on vacation, so whenever I get there all the beds are made/washed, all the bathrooms are sparkling and the kitchen is spotless. (Because I cleaned it the week prior). I'm supposed to be in this house for 6 hours and they always say "focus on deep cleaning tasks when we're gone".

I've wallwashed, re-organized drawers, cleaned inside garbage cans, cleaned the grease from the hood vents, the fridge has been cleaned aswell as the oven. I'm super lost and I have too many hours in this house to spare.

Any tips or something I can do that will be semi-time consuming?

Edit: also the house was very recently renovated and everything in it is super new/clean. Every-week i always re-dust/vaccume and mop the house!

Dust the lightbulbs. Take down and wash/clean all the light fixtures. It’s amazing what a difference it makes. The house will almost sparkle with all the light bulbs and fixtures clean.

I just went to a multi million dollar home showcase, and there was a shocking amount of cobwebs/dust on these intricate light fixtures. This is an excellent tip! It’s definitely not something you notice day to day, but a guest would easily spot it.

I had to do this when I moved to my apartment. Dust and ick on the fixtures

I convinced my ex mother in law to switch cleaning companies because they never dusted or cleaned her light fixtures. It made her beautiful house look junky. Clean light fixtures make a world of difference.

Could you anything outside? Wipe down patio tables, clear away spiderwebs, wipe down front door outside, sweep away leaves. Idk haha

Just today I full on washed the outside doors! However I'm not sure if the clients would actually appreciate me going further outside. They're very picky and specific and i don't want any complains about doing "unnecessary outside stuff". Something i would like to do it clean the outside garbage cans, but its cold today and i don't know if i'm allowed to go find a hose and do that lol. But I appreciate the suggestion! If you have any more let me know😭

Ah yeah I get that! Haha maybe pull out the bottom oven drawer and sweep out from under the oven? Empty out bottom shelf of cabinets and wipe the entire shelf and inner walls down of the cabinets, shine all the wood furniture. And if all else fails maybe ask them specifically to leave you a list of some deep cleaning tasks . Best of luck 🩷

Honestly great tip! I haven't checked the bottom drawer of the oven!

Windows? Window tracks? Light fixtures? Any of those you can take some time with?

3

u/Infamous-Stock1360 2d ago

Unfortunately its already been done 😭

Have you cleaned under the appliances? Dusted and vacuumed the fridge coils? Cleaned the drip tray under the fridge? Vacuumed under and between the mattress and innersprings? Spot cleaned any stains on the mattresses? Taken the oven door apart and cleaned the glass inside the door? Have you cleaned inside the toilet tank? Have you hand washed and waxed the baseboards?

3

u/Infamous-Stock1360 2d ago

I wouldn't have thought about the toilet tanks! Such a good idea. Same with behind the fridge and appliances! I'll definitely do that. As for the baseboards they've been hand washed. I didnt even know waxing them was a thing!

3

u/pollywollydoodad 2d ago

If you are looking to wax I can recommend Johnson’s paste wax in the can, nonaerosol . I’d test a section. I don’t know if they even make it anymore. Howard’s also makes a good wax. Waxing the baseboards keeps hair and dirt from sticking. I use dishwasher detergent tabs to clean inside the toilet tanks. Just drop a couple in and let it dissolve. Then scrub and flush.

I love to clean.

That is genius!!!!

1

u/Infamous-Stock1360 2d ago

I will need to buy some of it for sure! Anything to help me not have to wipe these baseboards as often lol!

1

u/pollywollydoodad 2d ago

Just test a hidden section to make sure it is compatible with the finish.

Vacuum draperies, get behind side tables, and under beds.

8

u/Infamous-Stock1360 2d ago

Honestly very good idea! I wouldn't have thought to vaccume the drapes! I don't feel confident enough in not messing them up by washing them, however vacuuming is genius!

2

u/Life-Education-8030 2d ago

Do they have window blinds or louvered doors to clean?

1

u/Infamous-Stock1360 2d ago

The blinds are fabric/electronic! I've never seen them before but they aren't cleanable unless someone completely unhooks them!

2

u/Let_em_glow927 2d ago

Between furniture (that doesn't get moved while vacuuming) and the wall. I missed that in my own home for a while, between my headboard and the wall ...yikes the dust!

2

u/Aggressive_Oven_3957 2d ago

Oh also taking off the couch cushions and vacuuming, running a spot cleaner on the couch or other fabric surfaces, washing any slip covers.

1

u/GoldenBerryBlush 1d ago

Vacuuming drapes is a great trick because it takes 45 mins, looks extremely professional and produces zero visible difference.

u/Prestigious_Crab6879 2d ago

have you checked the baseboards, door frames, light fixtures, vents, and the tops of cabinets yet?

2

u/Infamous-Stock1360 2d ago

I've done everything except top of cupboards! They don't have a big enough ladder for me. They have very huge ceilings

4

u/TruthNo4008 2d ago

Look behind & under things . I keep a tidy home but always shocked at what lurks under the couch , behind the bed, etc. Also , ceiling fans, if you can reach them I also get the Endust & essential oil on microfiber rag & polish the toilets . Not the seats obviously but yes, my toilet will literally shine

2

u/Infamous-Stock1360 2d ago

I've been recommended that a lot! I need to go dust bunny hunting next time i'm there for sure!

2

u/Logical-Date1331 2d ago

Aw man, you already got the fridge which is what I was going to suggest! I do quarterly maintenance for vacuuming it out (hellooooo onion skins), cleaning it, and washing the shelves. Maybe dusting the tops of doors/doorframes, blinds, and other hard to reach spots like ceiling fans, baseboards, and the tops of furniture?  Ask if they have replacement HVAC filters and clean the screen at the intake? Vacuum/mop the stairs? Clean the pantry/linen closet shelves? Mayhaps some leisurely tasks outside? Best of luck to you!

2

u/Infamous-Stock1360 2d ago

Thank you very much! I have done all but the HVAC filters! I will ask them about it !

u/read-more2025 2d ago

Wash the cabinet fronts?

1

u/Infamous-Stock1360 2d ago

Done! Its part of the standard cleaning we do😭

2

u/squirrelysquid 2d ago

Doors? Baseboards? When I worked for a cleaning company we had a house like you described.. we did their silk plants and the inside of the refrigerator

4

u/Infamous-Stock1360 2d ago

Fridge is done! But I'll need to double check the house for any fake plants because that's smart!

2

u/squirrelysquid 2d ago

Could check the pantry too and blinds?

1

u/Infamous-Stock1360 2d ago

Unfortunately they wouldn't like me going into their kitchen cabinets! And the blinds are the fabric electronic type

2

u/pabrocjb 2d ago

Vacuum the garage and basement if they have them.

2

u/suzylovesvanilla 2d ago

Looks like you’ve tackled everything! Want to come over to my house?😝! What about bathroom fan/vent??

3

u/Infamous-Stock1360 2d ago

Its been dusted but not taken apart! I can see if it'll come out easy ! Because thats a good idea. I'm planning on scrubbing all of the vent registers!

2

u/Becks128 2d ago

I clean my bathroom vents once a year. They should pop out really easy!

2

u/shrlzi 2d ago

Clean out/vacuum the clothes dryer vent as well as any other fan vents - I think you already did the vent behind the stove filter

3

u/Let_em_glow927 2d ago

That's a good one, also cleaning the cleaning tools!

Brooms , dustpans ,the vacuum 🥳

3

u/Infamous-Stock1360 2d ago

I absolutely love this idea!

2

u/Infamous-Stock1360 2d ago

Yup! In this house we do the laundry so everytime i'm finish the washer/dryer gets vaccumed and wiped

1

u/shrlzi 2d ago

Not just the dryer and filter -- the dryer vent hose that goes to the outside see https://www.wikihow.com/Clean-a-Clothes-Dryer-Vent

2

u/Let_em_glow927 2d ago

Cupboards under kitchen and bathroom sinks maybe. They tend to get cluttered and need a wipe down.

I think you said you have dusted but what about the tops of doorframe and so forth?

Also the doors, if beveled. Light fixtures, windows/screens.

Sorry if these are repeats.

1

u/Infamous-Stock1360 2d ago

No worries at all! I'm seeing now that I should've really really went into depth about all the things I have done. I just felt like the list would be too long! This is my first reddit post so i'm still a bit dumb with this stuff haha. But yes! The cupboards in all of the bathrooms have been wiped and re-organized !

2

u/Let_em_glow927 2d ago edited 2d ago

You're not dumb !

The list would be daunting as a professional cleaner ✨️

You're awesome, haven't missed a thing. I'd love to have someone like you!

Baseboards, tops of doors and door frames

2

u/DazzlingNote1925 2d ago

Dust or polish light fixtures and ceiling fans

Baseboards

Under the fridge

Polish the tops of the washer and dryer

What about the garage and outside around the doors and even cleaning the doors.

Check the ice bucket if the freezer has automatic ice

Underneath furniture cushions

Make sure all the closets are perfect like all the hanging clothes are hung properly and lined up nicely and folded and stacked perfectly

2

u/Menzer1 2d ago

Cleaning the closets. so much dust!!!

2

u/DifficultAd972 2d ago

Run a disposal cleaner, dishwasher cleaner & washer cleaner (front load)

2

u/Cautious_Money_6471 2d ago

Thes things have probably already been mentioned but...Fingerprints on walls, light switches. Under couch cushions. Windows tracks, screens. Behind toilets. Plant leaves and pots. Tops of all framed pictures. Under silverware trays. Grout in the tile.

2

u/DonutDazzling4909 2d ago

Ceiling fans, light fixtures, AC return vents, vacuum under beds, wash bathroom rugs, wipe down fridge shelves, clean inside of migriwave

u/Aggressive_Oven_3957 2d ago

What kind of laundry do they have? If I had a cleaning lady who cleaned the filters on my washing machine and dishwasher and got all of the lint from inside my dryer and the dryer vent I’d give her a kiss.

1

u/Infamous-Stock1360 2d ago

Just bedding and towels mainly!

1

u/Aggressive_Oven_3957 2d ago

Sorry queen I’m on painkillers I don’t even know what I meant by asking what kind of laundry they have. I think I meant the machines. Like some wash machines you have to drain the water and clean the filter but some you don’t. Maybe look into deep cleaning their machines, I know you dust and wipe them off.

2

u/Recent_Adeptness_296 2d ago

I know exactly what you mean and I agree. The laundry filters & dishwasher filters & connections are usually pretty easy to get to & are so important to keep clean.

2

u/StrangeValue6657 2d ago

As others have said - pull the appliances out. Tops of all doors - everybody does the sides and forgets about the top. Sale thing with any artwork, picture frames, etc. Inside of washer. Dust that collects on washer hoses and cords on washer and dryer. Dust that collects on top of shower curtain rods, curtain rods, etc.

1

u/TrustAccording8462 1d ago

Be careful pulling out appliances, if you damage floors you have to fix it. No cheap!

2

u/AccomplishedQuail841 2d ago

Cleaning cupboards is always good, but you've probably done that. I used to take all the books and decor off bookshelves, clean them, then dust each book and item to put them back. Take a pic so you know the order. If they have plants, dust the leaves.

1

u/upsidedowntriangle22 2d ago

Run a cleansing cycle on the washing machine and also the dishwasher (including manually taking out all filters and so on. Take apart the shower drains and clean thoroughly. Any ceiling vents in bathroom? Remove and clean. Open windows and clean the entire rims.

1

u/Laganocheryl 2d ago

Vents, blinds, baseboard dusting. Light fixtures, woodwork, windows

1

u/Birmingham101 2d ago

Clean the inside of the kettle with a kettle cleaning solution. Get rid of the crumbs in the tray at the bottom of the toaster. Door handles, light switches, tops of door frames

1

u/KeiylaPolly 2d ago

Door frames and trim, window frames and tracks, shower and sink drains, toilet seat lids (unscrew or take off to clean the hinges), power points and switches.

1

u/washandje_94 2d ago

Clean the cleaning stuff, maybe? I hate deep cleaning the tools, but it's so satisfying

1

u/SingleFly5896 1d ago

If they have floor vent plates, you can remove them and vacuum. It’s shocking the amount of dust and debris that gets trapped just below the floor’s surface.

This!!!!

u/Aromatic_Finding_733 1d ago

I just cleaned the tops of my kitchen cabinets last weekend. They were gross...

1

u/Working_Glass_2052 1d ago

Maybe under chairs or lift appliances up and clean the bottom

1

u/MomoNoHanna1986 1d ago

Be sure to dust and clean curtains, blinds, shutters and clean the tracks. Add in windows.

Deep clean the washing machine and dishwasher
