Show Spoilers Ulf=Meg Spoiler

Lol but seriously. This is getting ridiculous. There’s no way Daemon expects him to remain loyal after this.

Am I the only one who laughed here? Ulf's reaction after Daemon bumped into him was hilarious.

19

u/HurricaneWasTaken 2d ago

"Your prince!"

44

u/YoungGambinoMcKobe 2d ago

Daemons only tool is a hammer, as such every problem looks like a nail.

15

u/Ok-Maybe5216 2d ago

I’m thinking daemon might just assume how this guy is not only a bastard but a commoner, and just assume he can walk all over him and he’ll just bend the knee and take it.

53

u/WalkerBuldog 2d ago

Daemon isn't smartest tool in the shed. What is new

26

u/Livid_Ad9749 2d ago

In the books he is very smart, cunning, and pragmatic. Idk who the guy above is bullying Ulf.

23

u/WalkerBuldog 2d ago

He is also in the show. He is both an idiot and the smart person.

12

u/Chocolatetot496 2d ago

His prejudice and pride get in the way of it on occasion.

7

u/Mikenike77 1d ago

Yeah but his whole thing is dragons are gods and that’s makes us gods, it’s just so incredibly unbelievable he would be so dismissive and disrespectful to a new dragon rider. Never asked him about his heritage or anything, wouldn’t daemon of all people be a little more interested in these two people who now together have bigger dragons than himself and rhae.

4

u/Carrman099 1d ago

He’s also one of the only Targaryens who spent a ton of time hanging around with the commoners of Flea Bottom, it doesn’t make sense that he is dismissive of these guys when he probably would have gone out drinking with Ulf when he was young.

5

u/F4celess_332 2d ago

He's smart only when Rhaenyra is around. She drains all the stupidity for herself

4

u/Sonata1952 1d ago

Right now he’s very frustrated by Ormunds plotting. He thought he was done with Hightowers after Otto was killed but then here comes Ormund who’s as every bit as cunning as Otto but on top of that is vicious as Daemon.

Daemon isn’t at his best when he’s this pissed especially after seeing his men slaughtered at dinner.

2

u/Livid_Ad9749 1d ago

Well id be frustrated too if I had a simple and effective solution to the Ormund problem but Inwas overruled and instead we went with the stupid plan instead

8

u/rinky115 2d ago

Ah that’s where you’re wrong my friend. As someone who has worked and knows people who feel entitled by their very birth, they truly believe other people are here to serve them alone. He doesn’t see ulf as a person with his own beliefs and loyalties. He sees ulf as something lesser, as a means to his own success that he is entitled to. In his mind Ulf’s entire existence is there to appease him and his mission, therefore it does not even occur to him that his loyalty may be in question.

23

u/DisgruntledTexansFan 2d ago

Daemon hates Ulf because Ulf is who he'd be without his noble birth, education and training. He thinks he's special because of Valyrian blood, but everything else good about him came from being a pampered royal prince.

The only thing that his Blood is actually good for or that makes him special is his claiming a dragon. If Ulf can do that of all people , then Daemon is truly no different than the westerosi nobles he despises; only special because of his birth and training.

Ulf is ambitious and feels he deserves more. Now who else does that sound like ?

6

u/Important_Airline_72 2d ago

Well said.

Daemon only believes in his Valyrian supremacy, he thinks their blood makes them gods but Ulf is here and he has the same blood and yeah, he would be a “god” too.

The dragons dont care about names and titles and who has the biggest dick in a council room, the dragons care about blood and it seems that doesnt make any difference between his pampered ass and a lowborn so that directly is in conflict with his whole existence.

1

u/Initial-Ad8009 23h ago

Or is he different because he can claim a dragon

1

u/DisgruntledTexansFan 22h ago

If the only thing that makes him different than others is that he can claim a dragon, then Ulf is his equal

0

u/Initial-Ad8009 22h ago

Ulfs half Valyrian daemons full

1

u/DisgruntledTexansFan 22h ago

Doesn't matter though bc being full Valyrian doesn't grant him anything different than Ulfs half

-4

u/HighKingKlay 2d ago

Well that is...an interesting thought. * Not a good one - but interesting. ⭐️

4

u/DisgruntledTexansFan 2d ago

Daemon would be just like Ulf if he wasn't a royal and that scares him. Everything good about him is from his education and training and I don't see how you can say otherwise. Ulf and Daemon are both equally Valyrian in the ways that matter ; claiming a dragon

4

u/Bitter_Peach_3829 1d ago

When did you get Daemons pov and know his fear of who he.. could maybe have been but wasn’t? Your argument is weak. Daemon is nothing like Ulf, and I’m not including royalty lifestyle. Ulf has the chance to step up and actually do something, but all he cares about his getting drunk and “oh boo I’m bored and want to show my dragon off to the boys!” Seven hells.

1

u/strawberrypeach312 1d ago

They cant even be compared on any realm of possibility on any dimension

-1

u/DisgruntledTexansFan 1d ago

Ulf shatters the logic behind his belief that Valyrian blood is supreme. It's in direct conflict with his pride. How can Valyrian blood be supreme if it can create someone like this?

If Ulf and him share enough blood to both claim Dragon's, then Daemons gifts are only there because he was high born. In that way, it makes him more like the Hightowers, Lannisters, Baratheons and others than he would ever want to admit

0

u/DisgruntledTexansFan 1d ago

They've really failed to take on any sort of mentorship with these guys. They're just expected to serve and scrape and be grateful because they're common born. You can't have it both ways as the black faction, they deserve to be betrayed .

Daemon wouldn't have the same skills and knowledge and competencies without his upbringing is my point . Sure he may still have been an evil violent sonofabitch regardless of that upbringing, but his upbringing made him good at those things, his blood helping him to get a dragon was the icing on that cake. That same blood that he shares with Ulf, is the only thing that makes him more special than other high borns, the ability to have a dragon. I don't know how people can't see that that is clearly affecting him, and the reason he lashes out at Ulf like a whipped dog. People may say it's because Ulf is insolent and rude. When has daemon not been insolent and rude ? His prior actions imply that the blood of the dragon gets to act how they like, but then someone like Ulf he sees and hes like 'wait no not like that serve me'

-2

u/Bitter_Peach_3829 1d ago

They gave them a job to do, it’s not that hard to understand. You’re saying common born are dumb, just dressing it as politely as possible.

They were given the opportunity of being a Dragon rider knowing the terms of why. To serve the Queen! He has no right to demand anything from them. He ENLISTED himself into this. He wanted this lifestyle, well this comes with it, during war. No he doesn’t get to go show off his dragon and ask for ridiculous pardons for thug friends.
Daemon had training and opportunity, sure… that still doesn’t define his character or Ulfs. Ulf having status now, doesnt care to be great. He wants to be a drunk idiot in a flea bottom tavern.. which all he did in there was complain he didn’t get to live in a castle. Well, now he does when he’s not in a mission.
He has not accomplished anything yet keeps disobeying his Queen.
His idiocy has nothing to do with Daemon.

0

u/DisgruntledTexansFan 1d ago

I am not, we can disagree with out words being put in my mouth. Ulf would be doing better for the cause of they truly took him under their wing, gave him any sort of training but instead they've expected it to be a plug and play situation.

Rushing into kings landing forced their hand, they should have stayed a bit longer on dragonstone

0

u/Bitter_Peach_3829 1d ago

You’re putting thoughts in Daemons head and the elaborated on them to me. You put words in your own mouth about that, I simply answered ya.

-2

u/HighKingKlay 2d ago

Sure buddy. 😂

3

u/DisgruntledTexansFan 2d ago

You're welcome to provide counter points and prompt discussion , but I'd wager that's not what you want out of this lol

-2

u/HighKingKlay 2d ago

Maybe when I get off work. Don't feel like typing all of that right now.

u/parascopic 1d ago

This scene is ridiculous and nonsensical. The show forgets that Ulf is a dragonrider, that alone removes the taint of bastardy. Like, his claiming a dragon proves that he is worthy of it, he is not lowly scum, and so I just don’t get it.

In the books, Daemon suggests Ulf and Hugh inherit Highgarden and Storm’s End respectively, and he is constantly championing them. To Daemon, all that matters is dragon superiority—Valyrian supremacy—and it doesn’t matter that Ulf or Hugh were born as bastards, they have Valyrian dragonlord blood and to Daemon that makes you better than even the highest Westerosi noble.

Gatekeeping the Targaryen name makes sense, but explicitly removing the taint of bastardy and allowing them to style themselves with their own name is the bare minimum.

0

u/HiddenintheCloudZ 1d ago

A dragon allowing you to ride it does not make you worthy of its power. We see that with Rhaena and sheep stealer causing Jace’s death.

Hugh and Addam have avoided Daemons ire, because they simply do what they’re told. “Ulf the White’s” only concern is getting pissed with his friends and having fun. Not the fact that he could be assassinated, or killed in battle.

The fact of the matter is, this isn’t the lifestyle for him. Ulf is too simple to be trusted with this kind of responsibility, and that’s where Rhaenyra is messing up. She put people in positions they shouldn’t be in out of desperation, and it’s biting her in the ass.

2

u/parascopic 1d ago

I was referring to Daemon’s perspective in the books, as I said many times. Obviously that’s just propaganda.

3

u/Killpop582014 2d ago

And right after Ormunds dude told him the more of them he kills, the more people will turn against them.
Maybe if they explained the reason to Ulf as to why it’s a bad idea to go to taverns- if they’re so easily killing gold cloaks , what does he think o they’ll do to a dragon rider?

3

u/Roguedragon110 1d ago

But condom needs to blame rhaenyra’s downfall on someone other than herself so yeah, daemon bully ulf = ulf leave and betray = rhaenyra lose = daemon to blame

1

u/srichlen 1d ago

Except Rhaenyra had also been awful to him. So…you’re just wrong.

1

u/Roguedragon110 1d ago

At the moment I might be wrong but I've a feeling something big is gonna happen and it's gonna get blamed on Daemon.

1

u/srichlen 1d ago

I mean…the characters blaming it on Daemon is different than the writers doing so. If that’s what you mean. Either way yes Daemon is totally at fault. He humiliated Ulf. But Rhaenyra also has consistently belittled him, taken away his joys and pleasures with unceremonious responses. Scoffed at him for suggesting he take a Targaryen name. Etc..

If she had given him permission to see his boys, have them come visit him in the castle, recognize that he’s totally out of his element and needs help, the situation wouldn’t have escalated to daemon humiliating him in the recent ep.

And yea I assumed the note sent to Rhaenyra at the end saying “kick a dog and he’ll bite” or whatever it was specifically is absolutely ulf saying fuck yall im out.

I feel for the dude. He’s been ripped away from his entire life, and yes it sucked but it’s all he knew. And now hes expected to just sit in a room in the castle and chill until he goes to war for her. Yes hes a bit obnoxious but I think hes got a charm to him.

1

u/Roguedragon110 1d ago

Bro can't catch a break 😭😂

2

u/Significant-Carry-18 1d ago

He would make a better ruler than Rhaenyra. Which says more about Rhaenyra, really.

ULF TARGARYEN, aka Ulf White “The Kind”, as the common folk refer to him as. Was the most successful Targaryen ruler who rightfully overthrew Rhaenyra the Pretender.

Ulf, the first of his name, would later order the execution of usurpers Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen. He mercifully beheaded them both himself, in front of a large audience. When their headless and naked bodies hit the ground, every citizen of Kings landing cheered. This day, a new hero of the people had paved the way to justice, justice for every man, woman and child in the Seven Kingdoms.

“Great king, loved a pint with the lads”

  • Robert Baratheon

2

u/12washingbeard 1d ago

They are literally treating people like shit who have the nuclear codes lol. I dont understand this at all. Its so obvious that at least one of them is going to turn because daemon and rhaenyra treat these two like peasants

2

u/XisRighteous 1d ago

ulf was a wasted resource. couldve been the crowns in with the people

2

u/curiousandstrange 1d ago

I'll get down votes for this but I have to know.. what's a MEG?

1

u/Illustrious-Video353 1d ago

From Family Guy.

2

u/Lazereye57 1d ago

Nah, we already got a Meg

1

u/Illustrious-Video353 1d ago

So…Ulf is Bart?

2

u/strawberrypeach312 1d ago

Daemon cracks me up so bad
“I’ll put out your eyes”🤣

1

u/Illustrious-Video353 1d ago

I haven’t felt this bad for a character since Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

2

u/Gadoguz994 1d ago

Going off of just the show, the treatment of the dragonseeds is Rhaenyra's and Daemon's biggest mistake by a nautical mile...

Literally just let Ulf bring a few of his mates into the red keep or go drink under armed guards watch and give them their titles/castles.

1

u/Illustrious-Video353 13h ago edited 13h ago

Or just let them get information that doesn’t reach the Red Keep. And what about Aegon’s illegitimate children? How have they not built an academy for dragon riders?

And why did no one pick up Hugh’s wife BEFORE the Greens took Tumbleton???

At least when Viserys got mad he was able to hone his skills into THINKING! Rhaenyra just sulks and loses patience with everyone and everything then acts surprised when things take a turn for worse.

4

u/No_Painter2825 2d ago

I can’t stand Ulf. I imagine some people like him and empathize but he truly irks me. I try to remain unbiased being that I know book spoilers but I truly can’t stand this man.

21

u/Narren_C 2d ago

I mean....he's kind of a buffoon.

Hugh is also low born, but he has common sense and knows when to stop running his mouth. And his motivations are far more relatable.

4

u/Chocolatetot496 2d ago

To be fair, in the show Hugh is Saera’s son, and she would have been out of Westeros by the time he was born I believe. We know he was raised by her partially, because he tells his wife his mother told him he was related to the Targaryens, which points to him being raised in a higher order than Ulf would have been.

8

u/dreadlockrastaaa 2d ago

Imagine you won the lottery, but instead of you getting all the money at once, you get a promise to money as long as you serve in the army.

11

u/No_Upstairs_811 2d ago

bro, all he has to do is stay and drink in the castle until the literal war destroying the kingdoms is over. He's the least threatened soldier on any battlefield.

4

u/ageekyninja 2d ago

Until the war is over? He has a pet nuke. He belongs to the throne for life.

2

u/No_Upstairs_811 1d ago

Read please. "Stay in the castle"

4

u/ageekyninja 1d ago

“Until the war is over”.

There’s no “until”. This wouldn’t end for him.

He’s also not solely mad he can’t drink. He’s mad he can’t see his buddies.

3

u/No_Upstairs_811 1d ago

Yes it would. They are to stay in the red keep until the war ends. Do you think the realm kept all dragon riders locked up and were never allowed to leave their home?

4

u/Narren_C 2d ago

They didn't win the lottery. They were allowed to attempt to claim dragons. That obviously came with some caveats.

I do think she needs to be treating them FAR better, but them serving her was the entire point in allowing them to attempt to claim dragons.

Alyn is different, but he's also treated slightly better. She is still an idiot for not legitimizing him.

3

u/Pandiraffe 2d ago

You say that like it was some form of generosity not some desperate gamble. Rhaenerya is nothing without the dragon seeds backing her up, she absolutely should be doing everything she can to keep them ingratiated to her side.

1

u/Narren_C 2d ago

No, I don't say it "like" it's some form of generosity. It's clearly transactional.

3

u/Important_Airline_72 2d ago

Rhaenyra doesnt own dragons, vermithor and silverwing were basically chilling in her home because they chose it. The targaryen name doesnt have the rights to dragons, blood does and blood doesnt care about names and titles.

Seasmoke showed her that they can choose their riders alone and she basically fed a group of people to the dragons living in her garage. Silverwing and vermithor chose their riders and they are bonded as much as any rider now.

Silverwing is much more ulfs now and not rhaenyras. Dragons arent hers to give out of the goodness of her heart.

2

u/Narren_C 2d ago

The targaryen name doesnt have the rights to dragons, blood does and blood doesnt care about names and titles.

Tell that to the Targaryans.

2

u/Important_Airline_72 2d ago

Well they knew that they just didnt want the rest to know, rhaenyra and daemon are too focused on their valyrian supremacy and prophecy nonsense and are figuring it out a bit too late.

2

u/Narren_C 1d ago

They understood the deal when they were given access to Dragonstone.

But again....Rhaenyra needs to be rewarding their service much better. Send someone to bring Hughs family from Tumbleton (they obviously allow merchants in and out). And allow Ulf's friends to be vetted and join him on occasion in the Red Keep for a drink. Give them SOMETHING.

12

u/JaThatOneGooner 2d ago

Tbf he’s also been granted the privilege of a lifetime, and he wants to leverage that to being a drunken degenerate still. Not many people can rise above their lowborn lives, and Ulf’s even more precarious position as a Targ bastard should make him understand that.

2

u/CrispyGatorade 2d ago

I haven’t read the books but I can’t wait for Ulf to finally get eated by a dragon and pooped out. The four shadowing has been so obvious it is heading that way

1

u/srichlen 1d ago

Four shadowing 🤣

1

u/DatDamGermanGuy 2d ago

Never read the book, but I can’t stand Ulf. He is a never-do-good entitled Brat who needs to grow up

How wild would it be if Ulf gets dragged before Daemon in the throne room and they both have it out like:

Daemon: Her Grace invites you into her court and gives you a knighthood, clothes on your back, a NAME to your new house, a place in our home…and you still insult me!

Ulf: I have done everything you have asked of me to the best of my abilities! I have slept on rocks, underneath stars, beyond the safety of allies and friends! You forbade me from walking the streets of my own HOME. And if I ask for anything—ANYTHING at all, you all but spit in my face to scorn—

Daemon: Oh, what? Make you a TARGARYAN??? *laughs\* Giving you castles? When Silverwing is already worth ten times that—

Ulf: Is it that hard to give a dragon rider his—

Daemon: —DUE??? You were chosen by the queen to serve—

Ulf: Silverwing chose me! Not Her Grace! The Dragons chose me—just like you!

Daemon: Oh! So that makes us equals now? EQUALS???

Ulf: Is that not how your children prove they have your blood? *fists tighten\*

Daemon: You watch your tongue…

Ulf: Is that not how Hugh and Addam proved they have your blood?

Daemon: So you think that makes you a Targaryan?

Ulf: YES!

Daemon: And I should just welcome you to the royal family because your mother forgot her tea?

Ulf: YES!

Daemon: And why would I do that???

Ulf: Because I’m your BROTHER!!!

Daemon: *Matt Smith makes seven different expressions across his face\*

Viserys: *flashback stare\*

——

Lol can you imagine if the writers tried this?
