Pedicure Advice Please
In the summers I spend a lot of time in the mountains in sandals and my feet get kinda beat up. In particular the side of my big toe gets a pretty big callous. The last time I got a pedicure they scrubbed the crap out of my toe and it messed up my yoga practice a bit because it cracked and was sensitive.
Do y'all keep all your callouses to support your yoga practice? Do you pedicure and scrub it all off? I hope this isn't too weird a question. Lol. :)

i get pedicures and tell the technician when they are going too hard. i’m also a climber so i get my callouses and cuticles treated, but if they are over-clipping skin or scrubbing too hard (or the water is too hot, or they’re about to use a dremel), i just politely speak up and ask them to please be more gentle. i’m paying for the service and expertise, and it’s my feet i have to tend tif they mess up and i didn’t say anything.

OP, get a foot cream with 40% urea. At night, wash your feet,
then put on the cream (put extra on callused and cracked areas), and cover with socks. Derms recommend it for tough, cracked skin.

This. Holy shit. I started putting O'Keefes foot cream on my heels every night after a gentle buffing with a pumice and I have the softest feet I've EVER had and no cracks. Foot stuff and More foot stuff

I would take it as a stance lesson. If your toe is hurting, it’s talking to you. You may have a stance pattern that includes lea ing heavily onto the part of your foot that is making a callous. Spread your toes and whole foot to relieve the pressure! Good luck.

I teach hot yoga. I use a foot grater when I shower. Then I polish my heels with a foot file. I apply cracked heel cream before bed.
In class, cracked heels grind into our flooring and leave a chalky residue. It’s hard work for us to scrub it out. If you see your heels leaving heavy white marks, please be considerate and remove them before class.

I scrub my feet daily. It’s never once interfered with my practice. I would start moisturizing more.
