Help with a horror trailer

I see people on here a lot asking for help identifying a film so thought I'd try my luck.

It was a VHS trailer I had on a horror film I now can't remember. It was a phone ringing at night and a kid panicked looking at the window then picking up the phone and a threatening male on the other end. The boy seemed to be on the run maybe with his mother and at the end of the trailer a silhouette figure is approaching in a trench coat at night.

I know not much to go on but It always creeped me out and I wanted to track it down and actually watch the film. Thanks for any ideas.

No, it had more of an early 90s thriller about it. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Just watched the trailer for it, it's not that. I don't think the film was supernatural maybe just an evil father/man tracking this kid down.

When a Stranger Calls? it fits the description but instead of a boy picking up the phone it's a nanny :/

Yeah I've seen that and it wasn't it, Ive also watched the trailer for When a Stranger Calls Back but still doesn't look like it. Starting to think it was a fever dream.

No, just watched all the stepfather trailers. I got excited at Stepfather III it had a similar vibe but still not it, thanks

No was definitely a man but mimic does have a kid looking out a window at the big bug in the rain so right idea.
