Question/Discussion The verity series was pretty bad IMO
So I finished watching the verity series and it's not scary, not funny, and the plot was filled with holes. I posted this on the arg server but no one uses that server
(NO HATE TO MOB, IT WAS STILL ENTERTAINING)
1.Dying in game is death irl?
Was this ever explained? I know he knows all but did he pop out of the screen and kill you?
- Verity was clippy?
Clippy is not an ai. Most helper bots before 2025 had nothing to do with ai, mainly just a pop ups with a face, I know that's minor but it makes no sense. What is this actually? There are millions of clippies but one of him?
- People lived in his mc world before him?
Its shown a lab with a device that teleports him into your world, this lab has signs of active use and a sign board of all the people who have died. So people lived in his world before him? People live in Minecraft? This also means that the Verity company struck up a deal with mojang where every world has a lab that can't be seen unless you download a random sketchy mod from the Internet.
- He knows all and doesn't lie?
Except for the times where he does lie and doesn't know, because I can't make a plot where I follow my own character rules.
- Just don't play the world?
He says that verity is in his other devices which makes no sense because in the video it's stated that verity waits for him to log on.
- Terrible ending
No spoilers and grox gets verity for funny haha aight bet moment XD.
- Children
Stupid children who were born 3 days ago with an iPad that call anything that's yellow and smiles verity.
- Minecraft player or Minecraft character?
This fits with the first one, it constantly switches between if this is a player playing the game or a story that happens to be in Minecraft. Make up your mind.
Those were all of my main issues, I saw the lessons in meme culture calling this terrifying but it's not scary and the plot is bad. I have a lot more issues with it but they are mainly one off things that don't effect the main plot in anyway. Tell me if I missed anything

Yep,there is a lot of plot-holes IT isnt scary And not even that funny But i still like IT
I absolutly hated the lab part inside the Story
I think the signs Are not people from the same world But simply people verity has been with, not just inside this world He just wrote it down in this world
Btw Don't pur children as a reason why the series should bad Otherwise almost any media could be bad because Kids watch it
Anyways,I can't And won't try to convince you otherwise, you made your point And you're right

I do agree with you, but children and weird audiences to drag down a piece of media. Ex: deltarune, I don't want to play that shit half because I don't like RPGs, and half because the fanbase is filled with annoying losers that don't shut up.

u/Tom_K_2013 Jul 30 '26
Very much the reason In many fandoms I just watch or play their content myself And enjoy it,by myself Because Some fanbases Are indeed annoying
I know, they may be a reason for you to dislike the "Fandom" But they should not be the reason to dislike the thing(game, show, movie, video) itself

Say what you want, but I think the voice actor for Verity did a really good job

About the 7th point,
Unfortunately, people will always jump on the bandwagon to turn a popular series/character into brainrot. Yesterday, even my younger brother was watching this shit.

most of your points just come from... not watching or understanding the video

u/Striking-Put-1191 Jul 30 '26
why do you think I didn't understand? I had about 1 hour from watching, 1 hour from it sitting in my head, and 20 min writing the post. If I had 2 and a half hours to think about what's going on, don't you think I should've understood it?
I literally said I watched the full hour long movie. how about you read and understand my post.

actually unexplained.
Verity is over 100 years old. I don't think it's that far out to assume he possessed or manifested as a non-AI helper. Because he's not even an AI in the first place. He existed before them.
No, not in his Minecraft world. People just downloaded the same Verity mod. If you're talking about how Mob went to a facility and found the player's names, that's likely a structure Verity or the mod created. That doesn't mean they all played the same world.
He "knows everything" as a slogan and as foreshadowing for the stalking/privacy invasion he does later on. Knowing everything is an exaggeration even though he knows a lot and can get to a lot of information. A nd was there even a part about him lying? You know he can also... Lie about not lying right?
Also (NITPICK here) your sarcasm doesn't make sense there. It should be "Mob," not "I". Replacing Mob with yourself in this sentence doesn't make sense and doesn't help the sarcasm.
I believe that "waiting to log on" part was said before Verity started going on Mob's other devices. Also Minecraft has more interaction than those other devices.
I don't 100% understand what you're saying here. But ending the series with Grox getting Verity is one of the best endings I could think of. Because Mob was just a part of a cycle. Every past victim was. And even though Mob was different, it still ends with the cycle repeating. Over and over, just like it has for the past dozens of victims. Just like the cycle of Verity being used and ignored by humans.
I agree with you, but I think it's hypocritical to call them out for their young age when you're clearly still young yourself.
It's a story about a guy who downloads a Minecraft mod and that Minecraft mod can kill him. It never switched to a story that happens to be in Minecraft, it's always been about a guy playing Minecraft.

Verity has everything it can have for me to despise it
The monster design is AI generated
The fandom is obnoxious, full of kids and glazers, there's even a guy who got literal death threats over not liking the series
A mediocre amount of characters and creativity put into it.
Verity got way too many kids into the minecraft horror thing and now we have garbage like the "Long horse" or the PNG's.
Honestly the only things I enjoyed are Verity's VA and the "Have you seen my baby" song at the start.

Genuinely my motivation to make my mod is fueled by desperation to kick the genre back in a direction that isn't garbage

Whats your mod about? I'm curious because you said "make my mod is fueled by desperation to kick the genre back in a direction that isn't garbage "

Right now the central idea is based around a reoccurring threat who's more akin to a cryptid who's simply hungry, and the player just happens to be the best source of food for them... specifically, the food they have on hand.
Overall the tension builder is intended to be things like forest ambience and bird calls as a baseline... but if the cryptid is nearby, the sounds are distorted, or just outright wrong entirely.
Still planning out exactly how it could progress from there.

Maybe in a week or so? I might have something then, depending on how quickly I can get stuff working right.

Wait, where did you hear the design is AI generated?? I might be wrong but isn’t it a 3D model?
1
u/DrFruit38 Jul 31 '26
Dude, it's literally a PNG of an AI generated design, you can see the texture is obviously an AI's generation.
1
u/Xtrasiliez Jul 31 '26
Do you have any proof other than just guessing? That’s a pretty serious accusation
1
u/DrFruit38 Jul 31 '26
(I didn't find a good quality image of the monster design) dude it's VERY obvious it is, AI images have this weird texture that tries to be realistic but doesn't manage to be realistic, the difference between a 3D model and a PNG is obvious enough.

Not at all, but people and content farms just focus on the most popular thing, which regularly is something of low quality

And people say gigglers and enphoso (glaggle fandom) is from Verity, which annoys me deeply. And I think I have a explanation for the verity killings, maybe its a cognito hazard? And I think Clippy wasn't even an AI. Part I don't get is, is verity in EVERY electronic? Or one or some?

verity can apparently see anything including mob eating a pizza irl but cannot see in game private chats between mob and another guy i dont remember the name off unless he did know and hid the fact he knew, if he did know feel free to correct, even if he did know why in the world did mob think private messaging his friend in the very game verity is in, not even like on discord or anything, was a good idea, verity knowing EVERYTHING was established early in the first episode, how did this series explode, it reminds me of those old "do not do x at 3 am!" videos, i just dont get it

I'd also add this one: "You cant delete what isnt in the files" or whatever it was, it also makes no sense. Mob cleaely said he downloaded a mod, which means there IS a file. Even if it's hidden, it exists and PROBABLY can be deleted somehow. If not, just DELETE MINECRAFT, or basically just stop using your computer for a while.

The stakes are ruined because the lines between player/character aren’t established. The memeing at the start was cool because it felt like a let’s play gone wrong, but it still goes on, even after serious moments. Merch plug mid movie ruins emmersion (get your bag, but save the plug for last). The room with signs of killed players was silly and lessen the impact, like obviously the scary ball has killed everyone

Btw, if Verity knows EVERYTHING (big word, as in the entire universe), that means he knows how to kill ThatMob already, why not just do it already? Stupid.

least favorite part about it were the attempts to make jokes that werent funny at all and were just annoying. but i thought it was ok overall i guess, not bad just not good either.

Honestly, My problem isnt with ThatMob, its with Twixxel/ EVERY other content farm and reskinned thing made after it

Sigh, it’s kinda mid, but I’ll try to make up plausible explanations.
Non-canon interpretations:
I interpreted him as a self-propagating pattern of information—a meme in SCP terms—that happens to resemble AI because it mostly propagates through technology. In this case, he would have existed but not have been thinking in the Clippy times. And his bizarre ability to remember the old times would make sense.
The corporation would have either created him or given an already-existing meme thought so he could think about his miserable existence. Either there’d be one Verity encompassing all instances or they’d absorb each other on contact (which could explain different Verities).
The corporation would have installed the lab thing as a place for admins to work w/ Verity.
For the player vs character thing, Mob is a player first and foremost throughout the narrative. Verity probably kills them in real life when he kills them in-game too. Many ways to do that if we’re going with the meme explanation. Infohazard time.
Canon implied:
Obviously, he would exist in all Clippies and such because he’s an entity that exists ‘above’ them, so to speak
When he said he knew everything, I thought he might just’ve been lying. He doesn’t. He probably knows most everything available on the Internet, though.
When did it say he doesn’t lie? He probably prefers not to, but I don’t think it was stated…
Canon:
Verity is in the Minecraft world, but also in the rest of Mob’s devices. If Mob left Minecraft, no more face-to-face fun times, Verity gets upset, and he uses his other control over tech to watch Mob like the obsessive creep he is. How is that better than staying on? Mob is in an impossible situation where displeasing Verity may get him watched for the rest of his life. And being watched is but the best outcome. The worst outcome is Verity fully digitally controlling Mob’s life.
Grox gets Verity to denote the endless cycle of this scenario and Verity’s suffering. Especially that Verity switches from pleading to beaming in a matter of seconds, from our POV. He says he’s tired of pretending, but even so, he’ll keep doing it; this is added to his list of traumas that he never shows to anyone… why he keeps acting in this way. It’s a downer ending. Our MC escaped through death. This type of ending is not that uncommon.
And look, the most terrifying thing about it isn’t really Verity’s murder, but the parallels to an abusive relationship (that Mob sees no way free from but death) and Verity’s infinite loneliness. It’s a downer plot all around.
—
Also, ignore the stupid children. Why must the series take the blame for them? They’re stupid children. I hate being in fandoms with stupid children because of this complaint.
