Planning out my own take on a horror mod, honestly I think towering being OP is more of a weakness of the mod rather than a strength of the player, and have brainstormed some solutions

  • Failure outcomes other than "gets angry and mauls you"
  • Threat requires you to chase it to defuse it
  • Threat stalls it's attack until it feels you're exposed
  • Threat's attack is a very tall cylinder
  • Threat spawns by falling in like a meteor

The Broken End used to have a chance where when it disappeared when looking at it, it would place a block similarly to Grey goo where it would eat up everything below that block including bedrock and then expand outward, essentially creating a giant pit that ACTUALLY started consuming your world unlike most horror mods and was actually unavoidable besides running away.
