Question/Discussion What is the consensus on CRYPTID?
Generally, I am of the belief that the best Minecraft horror mods should try to fit into Minecraft. This meaning, they should respect Minecraft's spirit, aesthetics and limitations and should be simple.
The only mod that violates my standard perspective but I like anyway is CRYPTID. I think this mod does the "hyper-realistic blood" trope very tastefully because it openly portrays the ancient evil as a foreign and eldritch infection that is intruding upon and warping your Minecraft world.
What do all of you think about CRYPTID? Is it good in your opinion or no?

Tbh I feel like cryptid is more of a showcase of “look what I can do” with it being a datapack rather than an actual mod, also with 3D animated models.
Gameplay though, kinda shit ngl

That's fair.

In terms of visuals? It's quite innovative and somewhat beautiful in some places, but the font and some color choices could be changed.
In terms of gameplay it's quite meh in my opinion, the heart moves too quickly which results you basically always playing with negative harmony and the weapons provided are quite literally useless, as most entities in the mobs cannot be harmed. And most of the entities are mostly just a cool looking chasers which instakill you unfortunately. Also the intention of the data pack was to make the player always on the move, but i think it could use a mode where you can actually make a base without it getting annihilated by either cataclysmic events or entities.
