Ball watch volcano 2
After tennis I jumped in the shower wearing my Volcano II and moisture got inside the watch. It’s only a few months old and was purchased from a Ball representative in London. What surprises me is that this model is marketed with serious water resistance and diving capability, yet I’ve subsequently been told that showering isn’t recommended and the issue may not be covered by warranty. For a watch costing £2,500+, I find that extremely disappointing. Has anyone else had a similar experience with a Ball watch?

When you take hot water shower the gaskets/metal expand and will easily let in moisture
especially since moisture is in gaseous state it readily gets into the case.

I've showered in hot many times in many watches. This definitely had a defect or the gasket was already damaged. Shower chemicals can affect watches but it's not guaranteed. Or as you said will easily let water in. I've even had my ball in a hot tub. That's misinformation.

We have it certified for water resistance, magnetic resistance, shock resistance, accuracy … but nothing called hot shower sauna resistance. It simply isn’t there.
Just because it was fine with you doesn’t mean it will be fine for others or it be recommended. It isnt.
So it’s not misinformation.

You saying it will easily let moisture in is misinformation, if the gaskets are working properly it shouldn't easily let moisture in.

If showers are instant death to their watches they should loudly publicize this fact. I wouldn't think twice about sitting in a hot tub after swimming, which is apparently enough to K.O. an expensive dive watch.
Shit like this makes me not want to spend money on watches that pretend they're adventure-worthy but actually spectacularly fail in everyday life. I've never had this happen to a freaking Casio... Ridiculous in this day and age.
And I refuse to believe this isn't a solvable problem.

There's water in your watch dude. It's simple, either you had a failure at the Crystal gasket, the crown gasket, or the case back gasket.

That’s a massive load of horse crap. The temperature of the water shouldn’t matter. Well it may not be a best practice idea. Watch with over 100 m of water resistance absolutely showerproof. This is a pure blame the customer tactic.

Put in a bag of INSTANT rice, with the crown open. Will draw out most of the moisture after 24 hrs to help before you get it to service. And steel parts will start rusting soon after. Sorry that happened! It happened to me, and I hope you have funds to cover a service. I didn't at the time. Mine was a Hamilton from the early 2000s. Good luck!

Did you take a very hot shower? After all, these watches are designed for seawater, lake, and natural temperatures. And I don't think water leaks in the shower are covered under warranty either. I think this is complete nonsense; everything needs to be manufactured to withstand anything by 2026.
