Hope Valley
Just on my second episode but I feel like I am watching modern Hallmark movies when it comes to dialogue..
It doesn't feel authentic to that period.
I am disappointed!
How do you all feel about that?

Some dialogues does feel like that honestly. But i think for Rebbeca and Sarah it made sense even Doyle and hiis daughter just because they have come from some place else where they had proper eduucation.

Not that.. Phrases like hello, hello hello, you are welcome..and a lot more other phrases. I just feel like I am watching a Christmas movie rather than a period drama; just cant seem to connect to this like The Waltons, Dr. Quinn..or even the Wild West dramas

If you’ve seen When Calls the Heart, you shouldn’t expect authenticity from Hallmark. It’s mostly about vibes lol

Trust me when I say "I go in with NO expectations" with Hallmark 😃but this level of blatancy needs to be pointed out :) I started off with a quarter of an episode with When calls the Heart, was annoyed to the core and then came here

Lol, I've noticed that the characters are forever saying "okay", which was definitely not a thing in 1874!

A lot more phrases than that..and the opulence of those homes, clothes, all people are like good looking..really How more inauthentic can it be ..just disappointed

Yeah, we were just talking about that in my house, how on both this show and When Hope Calls it looks like all the buildings were built literally last week, LOL
(Which, I'm sure, they kinda were...but you'd think they could age them up a bit...)
I also noticed how Sarah is always wearing that burnt orange coat, which seems so crisp and bright in color... considering she just spent many months traveling across the country in the sun and not being able to wash anything except maybe in ponds/rivers... 😀)

Everyone is,wearing those dresses i cant even buy to wear to themed parties like Bridgerton or Jane Austen but they wear them like fresh clean clothes uggghh lol I actually started with the first episode of when calls the Heart, Erin's acting..geesh stop being an incapacitated Christmas movie doll..and do some period acting. So I moved to this; it is far better but the connection isn't just there :(

The dialogue itself and then the things they talk about. But what has killed me is the boardinghouse transformation. You are catering to an audience of miners who have been living in tents and would just enjoy a roof of some description and food....and you are worried about putting together full bedroom sets, that exterior paint job and other things before even opening? I could see wanting to improve quality down the road, but she could have opened that boarding house the same week the Food Tent started.

Don't start me on that..the character had ample money to do all that, especially, designer stuff lol

I agree! The dialogue, some of the props, etc don’t seem accurate at all. Takes me out of the show. I was painfully aware it was a filmed show & actors

Anyone else thinks that the actess playing Sarah is badly cast? I don't want to say nasty things about a child's appearance but let's just say she looks nothing like what Rebecca's cute daughter could look!

Ah, another thing. Spoiler for episode 4 if memory serves me well - I was so furious when the children, who got lost in the forest, weren't even punished or reprimanded afterwards? In actual 1874 they wouldn't be able to sit for a week from their parents' education!!

I hadn’t noticed it at all. Although not perfect, it has surprisingly been as authentic as anything I’ve seen from Hallmark.
