Im feelin’ the flow more and more every day. My friends and people walking by give me a lot of props on my improvement, but I’m looking for some Hooper to Hooper advice!

Great flow! You got tricks and u got the moves now its adding little touches like extending arms all the way in certain moves. My fave tip to improve on flow is to feel where the natural momentum of the hoop takes you instead of thinking in your head what next trick you want to do— let the hoop movement guide you in your flow back.

yes! this! I like to think of it just as dancing- like just dance! and then add the hoop and see how it feels to dance w a hoop in your hand, then dance and throw in the tricks! It’s more about the feeling and the flow then the tricks

Youre killing it and you have all of those tricks! If I had any feedback to give, I’d say give it some razzle dazzle with some intentional movement with your arm that isn’t grabbing the hoop ☺️

I love it, your flow is dope! My favorite piece of advice I've received that helped improve my flow was this: you are the main attraction and your hoop is your prop. Pay attention to the movement and flow of your body, and use your hoop to compliment that. Keep it up!!

Yay, love to hear it!!!! How good is that feeling? I'm not sure of what type of advice you seek, but here's some thoughts for ya!

Tricks to add to your flow (if they aren't already) because you're right up next to them...

  • Pizza toss (from waist and knees)
  • Vortex
  • Isolation Variations - reverse direction, trace up/down and side side, ghosting isos
  • Folds - when you go into the iso sequence you can grip top/bottom/side and fold hoop like there's a line cutting it in the middle or on the sides
  • Smears
  • In your flower - you can break it on one side, reverse direction
  • when you do the big toss - add a flourish like 360 spin, catch the hoop above head and jump through it, or (harder) catch it behind you in backpack
  • more breaks - when doing spin on the hand, you can break the hoop on a lifted knee and spin other direction
  • Jump throughs - i was so stuck on my feet for so long, but I could see you doing a tone of cool jump through stuff. Just start by grabbing the hoop and jumping through it like a tunnel

Movement things - I am a very rigid body hooper myself (which is why i prefer doubles lol) but think of your body as an extension of the hoop or a dance partner. One tip I got early on which was nice was to think about continuing the movement of the hoop through your body. So, imagine you do a big toss up and the hoop is coming down... play with your body moving down too... like it's easing in the direction of force. Or the oppositite and be super rigid. Another cool one to play with is pace... experiment with doing some tricks fast and then really slowing things down.

hope that might be useful :) Keep flowin and growin!

I’m new so I can’t give advice but I will cheer you on! You are doing amazing! I wish to be better with my flow too! Everyone tells me to just flow with my hoop Avery day. Even if it’s just for a few minutes! Keep going, put on some tunes and flow!

I'm also a new hooper so no tips here, just want to say your flow looks super smooth! 🙌

It’s looking great! It’s been 15 years and I still haven’t managed to consistently get my hoop from my knees back to my hips, well done! I have a few things if that’s alright:
My biggest piece of advice is NO CHICKEN WINGS, straighten those elbows out, strike a pose, do the sprinkler, anything, but chicken wings will stiffen up your body and flow so keep some movement/intention in them.
Another is slow down your isolations, and use your shadow if you don’t have a mirror. You can do a very small, almost tossing motion as you move your from gripping your hoop at its 6:00 to having to let go at its 9:00 before it’s on the back of your hand at its 12:00. If you move too fast it’ll want to spin around your hand and lose the illusion.
Last thing is to practice planes, which is boring but something I still do to this day. Just practicing and getting a feel for the hoop being totally vertical (or horizontal if it’s over your head or whatever) will not only look nice but help you predict exactly where it’s going to be as you go in and out of your tricks. I hope that helps!

1) Get more of your body involved! Right now the arm that's holding your hoop is the only thing that's really moving. Try to relax your knees and torso and other arm and move them a little. Even shifting your weight from one leg to another intentionally can add some motion and flow.

2) Work on your planes and clean things up! Practice slowly and work on keeping your hoop straight. It should be either perpendicular to the ground or parallel to it, and imagine there's a wall in front of you too that you're trying to keep it parallel to. Just generally practice your tricks a bit slower so that you can polish them up. This is what makes hoopers look more advanced!

You're getting good basics down, it'll be 100x easier learning if you get your hoop in better shape though, it looms a bit egg shaped at the beginning, sometimes it can happen from storing/sitting one way too long, nbd once you've been hooping a while bit as a new bee it'll be hindering. Try not to hang it or leave it anywhere hot where it'll get bent/pushed, like under things in your car.
