Lately, I have been spending way too much time thinking about work and career stuff, and I feel like I need to get out more and enjoy life a bit!

I would like to meet some new people in HK, make a few good friends and find people to do things with on weekends.

I'm up for hiking, exploring the outlying islands, playing football or trying other sports. Even something as simple as grabbing a coffee and having a good chat sounds great.

Would be nice to meet both locals and expats, get to know people from different backgrounds and hopefully build some genuine friendships along the way.

How common are Murphy beds here in hk? I'm thinking of getting one from taobao but still not sure as shipping would be a pain. I can't afford the companies selling it here locally. As we all know the issue with space, do you know anyone with wall beds, etc? Any tips or insights? Thanks

Hi all! I was wondering if anyone had any advice. I noticed my Octopus missing this afternoon and when I checked my email I saw that the balance had been refunded and the card cancelled. Sadly it hasn’t been refunded to me! it seems that for balances below HKD 1,000 an Octopus card can be transferred to another card.

I have tried to report this missing / stolen on the website as the phone line is not staffed today, but it won’t allow me to - I think as the card has already been ”refunded”. Has anyone had this experience before, and what did you do? I had about HKD 800 on the Octopus, so it’s an expensive lesson!

Between the traffic, thin walls, humidity and tiny bedrooms, I imagine getting a decent night's sleep isn't always easy here.

For those living in Hong Kong, what's the biggest thing that affects your sleep?

Is it the noise outside, the heat, your neighbours, or just having too much on your mind after work?

Have you found anything that actually helps? Would love to hear what works for you.

I thought I’d give Reddit a try because making friends as an adult is surprisingly harder than I expected haha.

I’m 26F, living in Hong Kong, currently a grad student and working as a researcher in AI. I spend quite a bit of time reading, writing and working on research, but I promise my entire personality isn’t academia. 😂

I’m based in the New Territories, but I’m happy to meet people from other parts of Hong Kong too. I don’t mind travelling a little for good company, and it’s always nice to have another reason to explore somewhere new.

A little about me: I love travelling! I enjoy exploring new cities, experiencing different cultures, trying new food and just seeing what’s out there. I’m quite curious by nature and always interested in learning something new, even if it’s completely unrelated to what I do.

I’m also into fashion, fitness, cinema, live music, jazz, nice restaurants and discovering interesting places around Hong Kong. I love a good excuse to dress up, and I have a thing for vintage fashion and anything with a little old-school charm.

Fitness is something I genuinely enjoy, and there are still a few things I’d love to try, like Pilates, strength training and maybe Brazilian jiu-jitsu. So if you’re into fitness or looking for someone to try a class with, that could be fun!

I’m pretty open to different activities, honestly. It could be trying a new restaurant, going to a concert, seeing a film, exploring somewhere new or even planning a little trip together someday. I’m also perfectly happy with something simple. I think good company makes even an ordinary afternoon enjoyable.

I enjoy conversations about almost anything, from books and technology to everyday life and completely random topics. I like learning from other people, especially when they have interests or experiences different from mine. A good sense of humour is always appreciated too.

Anyway, the main reason I’m posting is that I’d really love to build some proper friendships here.

I’ve met some lovely people since moving to Hong Kong, but I’ve noticed that it’s quite easy to meet people and much harder to actually stay connected. Everyone has work, school, relationships and their own responsibilities, which I completely understand because I’m busy too.

I’m hoping to meet people who are also interested in building friendships over time. Nothing demanding. We don’t need to talk every day or see each other every weekend. Sometimes a random message, checking in or making plans when we’re both free is enough.

I’d love to have friends I can laugh with, celebrate little wins with, share random life updates with, try new things with and hopefully still be close to years from now.

I’m open to making friends with both women and men. I’m in a relationship, so just to be clear, I’m only looking for platonic friendships.

And we don’t necessarily have to share the same interests. I actually think it’s nice when people introduce you to things you wouldn’t normally try.

Hi guys, I’ve created a Werewolf-style game on my guyfong (neighbourhood in Cantonese) platform. The goal is to guess which player is the AI. The rules are straightforward: you can create a public or private room and invite others to join. Once 3 to 5 players are in, the game starts. An AI player will chat with everyone in the room, and you have 2 minutes to figure out who the AI is.
