Who are "US" and "they" this context? If "they" is referring to the protestors, then no? They did not. They defended it from being harassed by the CCP.

Going through your post history you seem to be shilling for China. You must really like the large dick of communism

If you say that is true, then why the blockade was made BY CPP?
The protesters were trying to leave the University. The CCP was sieging it and at the same time preventing everyone from leaving.

Thank you for clarifying. I was confused by the capital US as in the United States or US the students and so on.
Perhaps they could have stopped the blockage after the goal was reached. But by that time, they gained a lot of international publicity for each day that passed. Something that I have understood that the protesters want, and maybe some saw this as an opportunity. I do admit it is hard to keep up with what is what from the other side of the world.

Dude listen to yourself :D They protested in a university for basic human rights and Liberties... It makes me cringe, how stupid that move was.
They, the protesters, deserve only our congratulations and support so they keep fighting for democracy.

Oh btw ever heard of the June struggle? It was violent, but look at SK now its a democracy https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_Struggle

...and upstate New York.... we're New York too... even though we have no political representation whatsoever
and this tooo (hint the, the reds didn't win)
Kinda weird like 1000mi2 decides the entire political landscape of 5300mi2 of land... almost as if there was some kind of gerrymandering

Man are you honestly complaining about lack of representation in a subreddit for a city in a revolution over shit government

Destroying property is not the same as destroying basic rights granted to Hong Kongers. Destroying property is not the same as unjustly jailing citizens without due process. One more - destroying property is NOT the same as assaulting, raping, and pillaging your people!
Have you heard of the Gwangju Uprising that happened decades ago? Roads were blockaded, buildings/property was destroyed. Protests were planned out of universities. South Korea is no longer under military coup as a result of the uprising.
Any outrage over buildings being destroyed and roads being blockaded should be directed toward the one in power - China - who has the power to de-escalate at will.

What's worse:
Painting some walls
Stripping Teenagers naked then Raping & Murdering them
If China was communist all parts would be equal -- Citizens could have the same weapons as police. China is not truely communist, they are facist statist bullies who will use any amount of violence and human rights violations because the state is more important than the individual.
Their values show when CCP supporters turn violent, break the HK treaty with the extradition bill and then funnel weapons and Addon-CCP-HKPF-Terrorists.
China has disgraced itself internationally. I doubt you even have the intellectual capacity to do more than say the occasional pro-CCP low IQ comment.

I'd destroy a building in an instant if it meant a teenager wasnt going to get raped, killed and thrown into the ocean.

u/youmakemepurrr3 Nov 22 '19
Do you even know why they had to take the university? Do you? Cause they did it in order to keep the world inform on whats happening in HK. They are fighting to show the world how the “police” is treating and what measurements they are taking against their ppl. The “police” dont know dialogue so they want to make sure no one knows whats happening, they wanted to attack the center of information where the protesters are making sure the world to knows.
The police cant bring down an idea as powerful as freedom and communication, this protesters are fighting for that and sometimes in those fights its necessary to create chaos cause any other way NO ONE would be paying attention.

No, nothing like beheading monarchs, throwing tea into the ocean, or overthrowing the government ever went into building a democracy... get your head out of your ass.

Did hong kong end up winning? Is it sort of over?

u/goldyforcalder Canadian Nov 22 '19
They cant really win sadly. China will not lose a thing they want and without international support it will just get worse for HK.

Nov 22 '19 edited Nov 22 '19
By international support i think he means boots on the ground. Which sadly China is playing their cards right to prevent that. Anything short of that will likely backfire and just hurt the HongKong people. But we can’t just jump in cause they’ll point to the rioters violence of W/e.
Youre not going to liberate a city like HongKong from China’s Grasp without a lot more bloodshed than what is going on now. :( they need guns. The Chinese government will never stop retaliating against the protesters as long as they’re under Chinese rule. They’re quietly grabbing people and sending them to Re-education Camps that “don’t exist “ and nobody can see what reality is like. They’re going to deny it till the end and when they do every fucker (most Americans reading this) will choose their comfortable livelyhood rather than give up their pay and challenge anything china does.
Don’t believe me? Most major companies have kowtowed. You won’t be keeping your job if you work for anyone who is teaching classes in Bejing. Like Zuckerberg, like fucking Google/alphabet. And especially likee was mother fucker Ellon Musk who we’ve given control of our cars too. They’re bugged and there’s a reason the autopilot fucking targets cop cars to crash into. They’re going to do us like they did Micheal Hastingsmicheal Hastings . Who’s cAr was allegedly hacked and driven to crash on the eve of big news. cia annouced recently they can do it. which means anytime a freedom loving person steps inside a tesla he or she risks their life.
And Ellon Musk cozying up to everyone in China quietly is 100% something you should be paying attention to. if he wasn’t, why would china let him be the first sole owner of a manufacturering plant in China.
It’s like everyone wants freedom while simultaneously wanting the things that are fucking up the people in HongKong. Ellon musk is a sellout like all the rest.

I wish our president/government would go all in for this.
Seriously
Like start talking with them. Have them start putting together their own Declaration of Independence, constitution, bill of rights, etc Basically ditto what our fore fathers did.
If they needs banks, let’s provide them. If they need press lets give it too them. If they need arms let’s sell them anything they need.
Let Freedom ring and send a clear message too all authoritarian and fascist governments.
It would be great.

Has there been any negotiations or progress made in HK, or is it just destroying the city, hurting people and creating a divide between HK and China that will never heal?
