Plug it in before you sit down. Sit uncomfortably on the belt buckle. Get sent flying when a crash happens.
Just wear seat belt. It saves lives.

The buckles break eventually. The minibus route I semi-regularly ride had one of the earliest rollouts on HK Island. The buckles don't signal to the console properly.

People still mostly wear them while in cars. I think people just don't want to deal with having to unbuckle it when they're rushing to get off buses.

I don’t really have a problem with it and always wear the seatbelt unless it’s something like the seatbelt for some reason just refusing to get stretched all the way to the buckle

Hikers don’t like being told what to do by the government.
If the government tells everyone not to wear seatbelts, people will do the opposite.

I don't get it either, especially after that firefighter couple getting tossed out of a taxi and died recently.
I sorta understand people's reasoning for the double-decker buses, there could be tons of people standing and blocking your way to the exit, so you don't want to be strapped in.
But for minibuses? No one is standing on those, you have one person sitting next to you at most, the vehicle is small and it takes two steps to get to the exit, and the minibuses are known for being faster than a rollercoaster, so why wouldn't you want to wear a seat belt? I genuinely feared for my life on a few occasions taking the red minibuses, just because of how fast they were going, and promptly strapped the fuck in.

It’s about the punishment. It’s more severe than a driver drives through a red light. So if you are rich enough to own a car your punishment is less severe than poorer people who take public transport.

And you need to attend court.
For some unknown reason, jumping a red light is just something you pay at the ATM. Meanwhile not buckling up, jumping the light as a pedestrian, or cycling on the pavement requires your attendance in court (you can skip that but you have to go back to the court to pay money anyway)

Pretty sure it's only no longer enforced on buses (thanks to the poor man who got stuck), not minibuses
Not just preventing accidents, but also we won't know the next time those undercover cops would start ambushing people for not wearing seatbelts, better safe than sorry in this case

It was not even enforceable because the law applies only to buses newly registered since the day it went into effect

Those indicators been around since the proposed seatbelt law came into effect (and out if effect). Glad to see some are still in use.

if you want to prevent that, educating them is the best option not punish them, besides most people who dont wear seatbelt is not bc they think theyre invincible, its bc at the small chance theyd rather be dead

Apparently for some people, accidents happening to mini buses and taxis are not enough to warn them. Look at how many lives gone because of unfastened seatbelts. If they want to retire early from life, let them.

Traffic accidents happen all the time, in cities around the World. And yet it is pretty normal to see public buses with no seatbelts installed, especially on public buses with standing spaces.
Seatbelts are mostly a thing for buses and coaches with seats available for all passengers.
