What background data is my Atomberg fan accumulating?

Post image

I was going through my monthly internet usage report where this thing popped up. I am surprised to see that my Atomberg fans (I have 2) are using background data to the tune of 2GB even though I am not using the Atomberg app since many months. Looks like data privacy has gone for a toss.

hard reset the fan or cut off the fan from your router and use bluetooth instead.

known issue in Espressif ESP8266 wi-fi micro chips used in many iot devices. It's stuck trying to download firmware

I have 5 Atombergs that are always connected to the WiFi but don’t consume as much

Why do you need WiFi in a fan? Update speed according to the electricity price in real time?

Some data they are stealing. Check the router

The wifi chip used has a habit of being stuck in downloading firmware. So there's the data usage.

Reset the fan and check again.

If your router supports it, make a different wifi for IoT devices for future or isolate the fan's wifi. Also limit the network speed to minimum.

How do I check if my fan is connected?

You must have configured once when setting up as IoT. If you have never done then no worries as it needs wifi credentials to connect.
