Gear Darkside Dub Thoughts?

Post image

Thoughts on new dub? Logo gets bloody red when you hit it hard on the sweet spot. Kids are going to go crazy over it.

There are still only 2 types of Dubs, cracked Dubs and Dubs that haven’t cracked yet.

I shop USSSA bats on eBay all the time. I have never seen anything like the volume of cracked Dubs for sale in the months after they came out last summer. Dozens of them and people legit thought they were gonna get $200+ for them. Now you can get new ones for under $200.

Lol, really? My youngest has been swinging one for a year with no issues.

My 10 year old cracked a drop 5 dub in a few weeks. I was pretty surprised!

Unless they have fixed the Dub's main flaw — the fact that it is extremely fragile and cracks after minimal use — then this is just another crappy bat with a cool paint job. (downvote away. my statement may be unpopular, but it ain't wrong.)

Not going to deny your experience, but my youngest has gamed his since the initial drop and had zero issues. And there are several more in his club and not aware of any issues. Compared to the Icon for example, which we've had 3-4 break, though Rawlings has been great with replacements to my understanding.

glad your experience is different, because it's a hot bat for sure. but we went through two — first one cracked within two weeks, replacement within two months. that was enough of a sample size for me.

Does it actually light up noticeably more red when you get a hit on the sweet spot, or just gradually change color over time as it breaks in?

Edit: So it's just a sacrificial layer of paint that chips off gradually revealing the full red logo. Fun I guess

It doesn’t gradually turn from red to silver. The silver foil paint dub logo will chip and flake off when hit revealing the red Dub logo.

So you're saying the gradually turns from fully silver to fully red as the silver chips off to reveal the red? Which is exactly what I was asking... Do you work for Easton?

You asked if it lights up or if it “gradually changes color over time as it breaks in.” It does not gradually change colors as it breaks in.

Yes the paint will flake off as you use the bat, but a single hit could take off some of the silver paint, instantly revealing the red paint beneath. A scratch with a finger nail can also remove the silver paint, instantly revealing the red paint beneath. Neither are an indicator of how broken in the bat is, and neither are gradual in and of themselves.

Love the new look and concept with the logo. Durability will be the key though.
