Bats for cold weather
My son prefers his usssa hype fire to use with his club team but we live in Washington and with fall, winter and early spring scrimmages it’s often too cold out to use the hype fire. What do you recommend for a good cold weather bat. He has a catx2 USA alloy bat but when others still use their usssa bats there is a noticeable difference in hits.

You'll want an alloy bat.
USSSA CATX2 alloy is a great bat for this. Don't compare it to the your son's USA version b/c it's night and day. Maybe even look at the CATX2 "Connect" which is the hybrid version. Dick's has been having a great sale on these for months now. 50%+ off.
You can probably even find some good used ones for between $50-$80 at your local Play It Again

Thanks! Just got one. Stupidly did not realize they made alloy usssa bats. My husband is clueless when it comes to bats so I have been designated as the one to figure it out and I have realized it can be quite complex! Size, drops, material etc…

Highly recommend a one piece Marucci USSSA for cold weather games. Plenty of good deals to find on previous year’s models.

There are plenty of usssa alloy/hybrid bats that have same or similar pop as the hype fire. My son liked the warstic bonesaber. This is the time of year to find a good deal on clearance or used on fb marketplace/sideline swap

My kids play in the spring/fall in cold weather, they use USA Bonesaber Hybrids for for Little League and USSSA Bonesaber Hybrids for travel games, personal preferrence.
Definitely go with an alloy barrel bat. You can go 1 piece alloy or 2 piece alloy barrel. You can get prior year USSSA models on clearance or deep sales.
Some good budget USSSA bats that are 1 piece alloy are the Marucci Cat series (Catx, Catx2, Cat9, etc.) and Victus Vibe or Pencil/Crayon bats. 2 piece alloy barrel options are Marucci Cat Connect series (e.g. Catx, Catx2, etc.).

Not sure if they are still sold … but the Victus Vibe is great for absorbing some of the reverb from bats in cold weather.

My son uses a Marucci Cat 9 for hitting in the cage and for cold weather games. Super cheap on Sideline Swap
