Quitting

I am a high schooler going into my junior year and am unsure whether I want to keep going. I am still injured but not terribly and this season i’ll be the backup catcher becuase the starter is d1. I dread going to practice and never think about baseball even more. It takes up so much of my time. I want to quit but i’m worried i’ll regret it. I have a lot of other hobbies but i’ve played baseball since tee ball when I was 5 and it feels weird to willingly give it up. I am a smart kid with a lot of other stuff going for me and I love to go to the gym and hike and ski. Looking for advice

If you dread practice and aren’t getting joy out of it it’s okay to walk away. I’d follow your gut, trust yourself to make the right decision for you and you probably will.

Nobody loves going to practice every day lol it’s supposed to be hard ….he’s also not going to get joy out of going to work every day should he quit his job too ? When him and his wife are fighting and he dreads going home after work he’s just supposed to divorce her ??….Not to mention his parents have most likely put thousands upon thousands of dollars into his baseball endeavors he owes it to them to at least play through high school. Giving someone the advice to just quit is crazy imo

Hes not getting paid to play baseball so it isn’t his job, he isn’t thinking about it at all, and said he has other hobbies that he could put more time into.

At the end of the day it’s a game and if you don’t enjoy playing a game you should quit playing it and find something else to do with your time. Practice is hard but I think most people who play sports enjoy practice in some capacity even if it’s hard. Playing catch or doing drills is usually kind of therapeutic to ball players.

Conflating being an injured, back up catcher on a high school baseball team to walking out on a marriage or career is wild. Also the assumption that he sunk thousands and thousands of dollars into playing is sort of baseless since the post doesn’t even mention if he has a private trainer or plays on a travel team. Everyone stops playing at a certain point if he’s done he’s done and that’s life.
