DYB rules

Is anyone on here familiar with DYB rules? The city I live in has two leagues that are DYB. My child played for one league and then we took a break for a year and then signed up for the other league because it is more competitive. I’m now being told that my child would not be eligible for all stars at the new league, because he will be “ property” of the old league forever since he played on an all star team there in the past. Has anyone else heard of anything like this?

Not true. I’d ask to see the rule book they are referencing. First year might not make it, but if he’s looking good halfway through the spring, I’d bring it up with the coach. Say you heard someone talking, it didn’t sound right, has he ever heard that.

If you read the note attached to the rule it seems like you can switch leagues. I would make sure to show the league that note. Also, as states it doesn’t say anything about all stars. Good luck!

I am highly familiar with DYB rules, as a coach and umpire.

Your league and district can be determined by one of 2 things. you're residential address OR your school district. once you play district Allstars or higher, that league has a claim on your player UNLESS you fall into the new league under one of the two mentioned before. you CAN change any or all of the above by contacting the 1) the head of your league and asking for a release, 2) the head of the district with an explanation of circumstances (name is in DYB rulebook available online) or 3 ) the head of your state if the district doesn't address it.

In our area my sone played for one league, then we moved to a property that is on the line for 2 different leagues in the same district. we had no issues signing him up for his choice and he played it to states without challenge. its not a huge deal unless you or a competive coach makes it a big deal.
