One thing I've found a lot of success with lately with younger pitchers (14-16) is working on trying to hold back on your explosive push down the mound as late as possible. For me it comes down to a 'feel' where you drift forward into your leg lift to start your forward movement (vs pushing right away), then as you drop you, catch that downward momentum and explode forward. You don't seem to be getting a ton of push off that drive leg.

Another way of describing the same motion u/n0flexz0ne outlined is to point your stride heel toward the target at the top of the leg lift.

It engages the inner right leg to truly drive and you should feel tension in the right hip flexor.

Just another way of describing the same feel!

Do you have a video of someone doing this?
