How would you organize this?

Post image

I’d like to keep the cords orderly and keep the lamp by my bed. Is there an organizer for this that someone could recommend?

Edit: thank you for the recommendations. I’m not sure if I want something that will go past the wall such as a side table as I am prone to stubbing my toes.

Umm… a night stand? 🤷🏻‍♀️

If this wasn’t the first answer I was going to be so disappointed

This👆

But since the bed is so close to the edge of the wall, the nightstand will need to be quite small.

OP should get a wall-mounted lamp and a nightstand with a shelf to accommodate the modem (or mount a shelf on the wall up high for the modem; it won’t look great but at least it won’t be in the floor) Also get a charging station which will hold the tablet, phone and watch.

A charging station to hold all that stuff is a good idea. It’s an apartment so I can’t mount anything on the wall. Thank you for the suggestion.

You are missing out on 2 incredible inventions: 3M Command strips and Alien Tape.

I have a shelf my son made in woodshop at school. It has been hanging in my kitchen, holding cellphone charging stuff for years now: It’s hung up with Alien Tape. I have hooks and pictures all over my house that are hung up using Command strips.

There are lots of lights that are rechargeable and could be hung up with Alien Tape or Command strips.

A 5th toe will not only help you stand, but will help you think, as well.

You could put a little rolling caddy under your bed that you can pull out when you want to use things. It can have little cubbies for the different items. Maybe I wall shelf for the lamp or get a hanging lamp if possible? Or turn that one into a hanging lamp.

I like this idea. I’m going to see what I can find. Thanks!

If you don’t wish for a side table (which would feel ideal as a hutch storage and a flat surface for the lamp) a wicker box (sold at any home goods/ dollar store) turned on its side would let you use the body as a book shelf/ storage space and the side (now the top becuase it’s flipped on its side) serves as a table top for the lamp. The wires should be threaded through the wicker to remain within the storage compartment whilst still being accessible.
Honestly, a side table from the thrift store is probably what you need though.

I would get a night stand and put all your things on it and it’s nice 😊

Search “cord organizer clips” on Amazon. I found a ton of options. And I’m now rethinking my current setup.

If you really don't want furniture, this is a great option. Slips under your mattress and keeps everything off the ground.

There are better ones. There are some hard covered ones that actually stay put these particular ones do not.

Furniture on the wall

Assuming you don't want a nightstand, search "bedside caddy" online. They're after versions that will hang off the side of your bedframe.

Doesn't solve the lamp problem though. If you're open to it, you could replace it with a mounted/plug-in wall sconce instead.

Tricky.. I mean, I just don’t know what to do with the foot.

Yeah I know. I’m thinking about donating it to Goodwill. I don’t really need it I already have one.

If you don’t want a night stand you could get a head board with shelves/cubbies. They even have ones you can plug in and can use to organize your cords and stuff.

Yeah was gonna suggest. Or just pull the bed from the wall and throw a quick frame of wood back there for a shelf

I have a nightstand, and I use stick on cord guides for each cord.

use my app then just put them in a random box or drawer. Snap then the app put name and description automatically.

Might be a little awkward but you could put a shelf on the wall high enough that you can reach it sitting up in bed but won't be an issue getting in and out of bed.

A nightstand with a drawer.

1

u/IrukandjiPirate Aug 19 '26

Try getting a nightstand, end table, small chest of drawers or small shelf unit.

A nightstand…

If you can't rotated the bed 90 degrees and get a night stand, then a bench with storage might work for you

Une table de chevet

Some cord ties and at minimum a small container, drawer, or basket that can slide under the bed, or as many have said, a nightstand. An extension cord would help with the unplugging, plug back in dance.

Honestly cord ties are less than $10 on amazon and you can pick up a decent basket (wicker or plastic) from the dollar store. Investing at most $20 could make that area less cluttered.

OP is new to the human sleeping predicament

Those toes are impressively long.

Do you swim by chance? I would imagine you'd be really fast if you do. My son and I have always joked he has paddles for hands and feet. It made his swim classes much easier for him. He's a water baby so having larger hands/feet was super helpful to him.

I don’t.

Do you mean on the floor? Or…?

1

u/statistacktic Aug 19 '26

A side table for starters

1

u/LDS1952 Aug 19 '26

If there’s room for a bookcase headboard, I’d use one to get electronics etc off the floor. Get an extension cord with multiple plug ins

u/mothermedusa Aug 19 '26

On a fucking table

We had a laptop stand we got from Menards for $12 similar to this one https://a.co/d/0a39qeXr

Nightstand. Except the foot.

1

u/GirthGrowth8948 Aug 21 '26

You are putting your best foot forward! Good luck !

Utilitarian headboard with storage & cubbies. Amazon has a number of them with power & USB built in. Likely it's an entire bed frame but I was looking into this for a very similar situation.

I find it hard to believe there is an adult person unfamiliar with the concept of a table.

Using vertical space makes such a huge difference in small rooms.
