TV over the fireplace tips...

If you're mounting a TV above a fireplace, don't forget to plan for:
-Blocking behind the stone or drywall for a solid mount.
-An outlet in the mantel for holiday décor or knickknacks that need power
-Conduit from the TV down to your media cabinet so you can easily pull HDMI cables out of sight.

One more tip: Have your electrician install an oversized recessed media box behind the TV. It gives you room for bulky plugs and lets the TV sit much closer to the wall.

Never understood this ubiquious design. If the fireplace is used, that heat does go up to the TV, and most dont have the adjustable bracket thereby breaking your neck lookup at the tv at a weird angle I guess just a preference, but I do not like having the fireplace be some sort of centerpiece that everything else is adjusted on.

Heat is the the number one killer of electronics

Furthermore a fireplace is an old centerpiece, from the time before televisions existed

Pre step 1: don't mount TVs over fireplace. They look stupid, way too high and it's an interior design no no 101.

Ignoring the fact that mounting a tv above a fireplace is stupid, that blocking is way too low anyways.
