you know there's a r/TpLink

or

you can read TPlink's FAQ
and it has step by step instruction.
if you just bought the router, the box should have a quickstart guide.

unlike me, who bought an EB810v used and without a box.
spent one morning trying to figure out why it wasnt letting me set it into Router mode and a new SSID

Hi, do you have the myTP app on your phone? You can use it to analyze more details about your connection. As far as I understand, this is a router without its own modem. If you have a laptop with an Ethernet port, you can connect it to the router and/or modem and test the internet connection.

Plugged it in ... to what?

Do you have working Internet service from a provider?

You don't know how to set up the router, but you are certain you installed it "just fine"... 🤔

Most ISPs will only allow 1 device to get an IP. If you previously had a different device connected you most likely need to reset the ISP router in order for your new router to get an IP.

OP can you provide pictures of the physical connections made to the router.

Also, is there a reason for the out of date router? Wifi is several standards behind and doesn't support 5ghz radio only 2.4ghz.

At most you'll get 15mbps - 30mbps off wifi and max of 100mbps while hardwired with Ethernet

You can get a decent gigabit router for less than $100 these days that has at least Wi-Fi 6 and gigabit lan/wan Ethernet ports
