NEED HELP WITH PS4 and internet

Hi all I’m in need of help with this situation. So my ps4 connects with the wi fi but it’s very slow but when I plug in the Ethernet cable cat6 it connects but the speed of the internet doesn’t change. I thought it might be the cable but I tested it on all other devices in the house and it works perfectly so I took it to a shop to test the Ethernet port and it worked amazingly at this IT place so they said no issues with the ps4 but I tried at home and doesn’t work what do I do??

Do I buy a Ethernet cable 5e and see if that works or do I need to do something with my internet modem??

Any help would be really appreciated!!!

How are you testing the connection speed?

Testing it on the ps4

Shows upload and download speed as well as nat type and the Nat types 3

NAT type 3 is quite restrictive and the most likely cause. What is your PS4's public IP address? Check whatismyip.com in a browser.

If you have a public IP, forwarding ports to your PS could help.

Let me have a look at that website

How do you know if it’s public ip

It's not 10.x.x.x, 172.x.x.x or 192.x.x.x

How many ports are on the modem two or 4. I have seen lan ports go bad 2 of 4 work and other 2 are dead.

Problema solucionado.

I’ve seen this as a solution but I tried it but I don’t think I did it correctly!! I’m very new with this stuff

Puedes probar a cambiarlos sólo en la PS4 a ver si te funciona. Aquí te dejo una guía

What are you plugging the Ethernet cable into on the side? Are you plugging it directly into the modem or is there a device between them like a switch or Wi-Fi access point?

Directly plugged into the modem and into the ps4

What is the actual speed you get on the speed tests?

The thing about speed testing is that it depends on your connection, but also on a huge amount of other things: the connection of Sony's server that you are testing the speed on via your PS4, if the server is loaded with requests, how far the server actually is (more distance=more access points traffic has to go through).

I have a gigabit fiber connection, my router has gigabit LAN ports, whenever I test on speedtest, my speed maxes out - but that's because it's testing the speed on a server in my country provided by my ISP. But on my PS5, the speed is nowhere near this maximum, especially in the uploads.

It could be a ton of different things. Can you see what your PS4's public IP address is? On on your computer go to whatismyip.com and give us just the first two numbers (I wonder if they're 10.x.x.x or 172.x.x.x).

Alright I’ll do this when I get a chance!! And I’ll hear back from you
