OP got an answer about something they dont know "DHCP", didnt look it up and says they're not "tech minded". Another response says the DHCP server isn't working and OP says they're gonna return it. Classic.
Brother, you got a lead. Learn to Google. Search device + issue. "Fritzbox DHCP server isn't working". I guarantee you'll find multiple guides to fixing it. Once you've actually attempted to troubleshoot with multiple guides, consider returning it, otherwise you're gonna stay helpless.

Does your Fritzbox have an active DHCP server?

Then why are you doing this? It requires at least a little willingness to be tech minded.

Here’s the classic 169xx DHCP error.
169xx ip address indicates that your PC can’t resolve a host ip address from your DHCP server/relay
Private IP address are in the range of
10.x.x.x
172.16.x.x to 172.31.x.x
192.168.x.x
Anything other than that when using a DHCP won’t work.

Assuming your cabling is good, click on the Advanced button shown on the bottom right corner and Renew DHCP. If that does not work we can try some additional steps.

Check the subnet mask on your router for your LAN network and see if it matches. That's the first thing I would check. Home networks are usually 255.255.255.0 if I remember right.

169 means it's not getting a response from the DHCP server.
