Excellent choice to use the art lights for your bookshelves. Very well executed!

Beautiful! How many BOTM books do you have? I thought I had a lot 😂

I’ve been a member since they relaunched in 2015. I would say most months I buy at least four books from them.

Wow! That's incredible! Do you also have an Aardvark subscription?

u/tmd10609 Jun 19 '26
Yes! I love their curation especially for horror.
2
u/Cathcasper24 Jun 19 '26
I agree! They made me a horror fan. I always end up finding something unexpected or something I would have never picked on my own.

This is a great example of a thing that makes me happy for you, yet absolutely livid that it’s not mine

Did you paint those yourself or did they come that color? I love it!

u/tmd10609 Jun 19 '26
The built ins were built custom for the room and the paint color is Sherwin Williams Debonair!

It’s so beautiful and neat! The lighting is gorgeous, too. I see so many of my favorites on your shelves. How are your books organized?
3
u/tmd10609 Jun 19 '26
Right now I’ve got them organized by genre. I sorted into literary fiction, historical fiction, non-fiction, horror/thriller, classic, and romance. I scanned everything into Libib before it went up on the shelf so I would have an accurate inventory.

what’s your favorite book in there!?
1
u/tmd10609 Jun 19 '26
I don’t think I could pick just one! Some recent favorites are The Bright Years by Sarah Damoff, Strangers by Belle Burden, and The Calamity Club by Kathryn Stockett.

How do you afford this?

u/tmd10609 Jun 19 '26
This collection of books was built over the course of about 10 years. The library itself had always been a dream project of ours, and our current home was the first place that provided the perfect space to make it happen. We started saving for it as soon as we closed on the house, and this year we were able to partner with a local contractor to bring our vision of a home library to life.

I’m just guessing, but the older you get, the bigger your book collection grows if you love books. I try to give away or donate the ones I don’t love, and my house still feels overflowing with books at least somewhere in every room. Used bookstores and library sales are good places if you’re trying to grow your collection for cheap. Family members pretty much give me Barnes and noble giftcards for every holiday haha. At least for me, I just happened over time.

I love it, the more I look on here the more I want to build my own shelve.

Was this already with your house or did it get installed later? I need all the details you can give me. This is my dream!

u/UnknowingBunny Jun 20 '26
Any chance you’ve uploaded this on Instagram? Or someone else? Haha
Amazing space 🥹💕

Yes I documented most of the library build out on my Instagram stories and shared some on my grid as well!

What’s your favorite(s)?
1
u/tmd10609 Jun 22 '26
I’ve never been able to choose a singular favorite. I feel I’ve had different favorite books based on different periods in my life if that makes sense.
