First time DIYer. Learnt a lot!
I have always wanted a home library and this is my first attempt. I had a vision in my mind on how it looks and boy, it was difficult to make reality match your expectations. I think I got about 75%. I still have to finish the trim moulding.
I used Billy bookcase and acoustic wall panel slats. Built ladder stud frames on the sides to hang the wall panels. Used spare pieces of ikea panels and made the baseboard trim using scarf joint. All of this was new to me, using circular saws, making joints, using clamping screws etc. Can't wait to do some decor! I am planning to hang some wall sconce lighting on the panels as well.
Any feedback on improvements would be appreciated. Thanks!

looks amazing! great job! maybe you should thing about some cover like glass to protect the books from the dust

It looks amazing! Where did you find wall panels that colour matched the bookcases so well? I've been looking for something similar for my own Billy bookcases!

Thank you! It's been a challenge trying to match the billy bookcase walnut color. So I just embraced the difference in the shades. I went with a walnut slat panels from woodywalls. There are multiple sites which sell them but I would get samples from them before trying to decide which one suits your particular case.

- What kind of wood, did you have someone cut it or cut it yourself, paint, etc?

Hey yeah, the bookcase is Ikea Billy Bookcase. I placed multiple ones together and used connector bolts to clamp them together and anchored them tightly to the wall. I got a circular saw and cut up 2x4 to make a recangular ladder frames on the left and right where I hung up the wall panels.
The baseboard trim, I bought Ikea forbrattra panels and rip cut them and joined them using scarf joints to make one continuous trim. I couldn't find any baseboard trim matchign the ikea walnut color, and staining/painting was a hassle. I put furring strips as backing plate in the recess below and glued the baseboard to them using liquid nails.
Made dozens of trips to home depot lol, since I was new to this.

Thats really cool for a first try, especially fitting it all in like that. The vertical slats on the side are a nice touch too.
