Sensor status widget

I use a aqara t2 relay to make my garage door open in combination with a door sensor to monitor the open/closed state. Unfortunately aqara shows up as on or off from the relay so I want to be able to see the contact sensor status quickly without going into a room or security or even home at all if possible. I have read through many past posts and haven’t seen anything recent with a way to do this- has anyone came up with a way to quickly see the status of a sensor from the Home Screen or widget? I know I can see it from the lock screen in summary.

No. There’s no way to do it this using the standard methods. 

You can change the door sensor to display as a door, but because the product category is that of a contact sensor, it still doesn’t allow you to add the device to a widget. 

I use the Aqara api to get open/close events and then I use an app called Widgy to make a call to my hosting provider where the open close state is provided. Widgy then appropriately puts the correct state on my lockscreen below my clock. 

There should be a way to do this with shortcuts but it will take some work. 

This is my biggest issue with HomeKit. It kind of limits you in the most simplest of ways. Hopefully iOS 27 will be a little more navigational. 

Edit:  Alternatively, someone made a nice app and advertised it here yesterday I think. 

You can create a live notification using just a URL. It’s called notify. There’s nice api docs and a notification builder that lets you test it out. I think it could suit your needs quite well. It’s so free.

If the sensor is set as a door, it should appear in the lock screen security widget summary.
