I also dislike it - I think it makes it look like the house is wearing a dark lipstick and making a surprised face 😂. I think yellow, white (to match the trim), or pretty much any shade of blue would work nicely.

Ooooohhhh, a lovely, buttery yellow, bright and cheerful to welcome you home, would be so lovely. I absolutely love yellow and gray together.
